Play Ball!

Hi, everyone! My card today is for the Sketch Challenge over at Splitcoast....instead of the tag element, I created a home plate. Baseball season began yesterday here in Indy....it may snow here today but everyone is still in the mood for baseball!!  Since I don't have a cutting die, I cut and matted the home plate just with a paper cutter.  The sentiment is from Teamwork and the baseball is from the Baseball Stamp/Die Duo set from Divinity Designs LLC.  The umpire's brush was created with a cheap paintbrush which I dis-assembled; the wooden handle is designer paper from the Weathered Wood Collection.  The main panel was covered with an Adhesive Sheet; the home plate, umpire brush, and A2 Thin Pierced Frame were added, then the adhesive sheet was covered in Flower Soft to look like dirt.

Another Recycled Calendar Card

Hi, everyone!  Today I would like to share a quick card created for the Sketch Challenge over at Splitcoast.  I used a page from last year's sunset calendar for this card.  The scene was cut with a Pierced Rectangle Die from Divinity Designs LLC, a section was cut out of the center at an angle according to the Sketch Challenge layout, then matted onto a panel cut with the Matting Rectangle.  The sentiment is from MFT; my MISTI was used to line up the stamp and to make sure the inking of the stamp was complete. Brass brads were added before adhering to the card panel.

Be Fierce!

Hi, everyone!  This week's Sketch Challenge over at Splitcoast reminded me of a lion, so I dug out this 3D stamp which I bought from Gray Wolf Stamps at a stamp show many years ago. (I think they are out of business now, unfortunately.)  The lion was stamped four times and the layers were fussy cut and popped up with Foam Mounting Tape after being colored with markers. I didn't have a sentiment to match, so I cut out the individual letters and made my own sentiment.  This is for my teenage nephew who is into martial arts....this is very fitting for him. The dies used for this card are from Divinity Designs LLC: Oval Stitched Rows, Ovals, Pennant Flags, Double Stitched Pennant Flags, Double Stitched Rectangles, Pierced Rectangles, and Letter board. Black metal brads were added to the corners and a clear glaze pen was used on the eyes.

You're Purr-fect!

Hi, everyone!  Today I would like to share a birthday card created for my niece, using the My Favorite Things Color Challenge, along with Sketch Challenge #912 from Splitcoast.  I combined the kitty image and sentiment from 'Housecats' with the Happy Birthday Circle Die and gingham paper which is now retired.  The image was stamped on watercolor paper with Stazon Jet Black, water-colored, then fussy cut (since I forgot to order the dies). The following dies from Divinity Designs LLC were also used: Pierced Rectangles, Scalloped Rectangles, Matting Rectangle, A2 Portrait Card Base with Layer.

Hap-Bee Birthday!

Tropical Sunset

Hi, everyone! This week's Sketch Challenge 838 over at Splitcoast will be my last one on the sketch team for this term.  It was a blast creating samples each week but was a big time commitment since I also work full time.  Since the sketch was slimline sized, I chose to use goodies from Divinity Designs LLC to create this card for my honey.  Since it is hard to guess when we might be able to go on a cruise vacation again, due to the pandemic, I created this tropical card for him.  He loves wearing Hawaiian shirts on vacation, so I chose this fun pineapple design from the 'Cool and Casual' Paper Pad; the dark green paper is from the 'Rustic Christmas' Slimline Paper Pad.  The image is from 'Bon Voyage', stamped with Stazon Jet Black, then sponged with yellow, orange and pink.  Here are the dies I used: I Love You, Pierced Circles, Circles, Slimline Card Base, and Slimline Rectangles.

You're Moo-valous!

Hi, everyone!  I tend to go overboard when creating samples for the Sketch Challenges over at Splitcoast, but this week I was successful at creating a simple and quick design!  This designer paper pattern from the 'Weathered Wood Collection' by Divinity Designs LLC was absolutely PERFECT for the sketch.  I just had to use the 'Hogs and Kisses' sentiments and the cute cow from 'Farm Friends' Stamp/Die Duos set.  The panels were cut with the Squares Dies, sponged while still in the die to keep the white frame, matted with Cajun Craze, and popped up with foam tape. This card will go into my birthday card stash until I find the perfect recipient!

The Simple Things In Life

Hi, everyone!  This week's Sketch Challenge over at Splitcoast is another "double dare"......simply create a card with this layout on the front....OR try a 'Die Cut Gate Fold' with a Belly Band, which is what I did!  Check out the tutorial HERE.  I saw some pretty Prima butterfly paper in my stash which hasn't seen the light of day for several years so I chose it for my panel layers, along with some Bordering Blue cardstock from my beloved retired Stampin Up stash.  The butterfly sentiment panel was cut with the mat from the Fancy Fritillary Dies (by Divinity Designs LLC); the sentiment is from 'Little Things'.  The shape was cut from white, sponged with yellow and peach, dotted with a white gel pen, then layered onto a mat which I traced and cut out by hand.  Blue pearls were added for a simple embellishment.  Other dies used from Divinity Designs LLC: Leafy Edged Borders Dies, Pierced Rectangles, and Belly Band.

From the Bottom of my Heart

Hi, everyone!  I'm loving the CAS (clean and simple) Sketch Challenge this week over at Splitcoast!  A perfect way to share a sneak peek of some new goodies from Divinity Designs LLC (available January 1st).  The four designer paper patterns are all from the 'Happy Hearts' Paper Pad; the sentiment is from 'Thank You' clear stamps, cut out with the largest of the Sentiment Strips 2 Dies.  The large Thank You was cut out with the 'Thank You' Dies and the tiny hearts are from the 'Heart Clay Sprinkles'.....part of the Shaker Supplies line.  The paper strips were adhered together and cut out with the largest of the Pierced Rectangles Dies.  Paper Piercing and 'Faux Stitching' was used since I am NOT good at sewing on paper....eek, what a nightmare! lol!!  The panel was framed with the Matting Rectangle Die and the pink card base was cut out with the A2 Portrait Card Base with Layer Dies.

Snowbirds

Hi, everyone!  For my card today, I have combined Splitcoast's Color Challenge (Sea Foam, Pear, Peacock) with the Sketch Challenge.  The cute birdies and sentiment are from the Snowbirds Stamp/Die Duos set by Divinity Designs LLC.  The snowflake panel and mat are from the Snowflake Sky Dies set; the foliage is from the 'Pinecones and Pine Branches' Dies set. Other dies used are the Sentiment Strips with Layers Dies, Matting Rectangle, and A2 Portrait Card Base with Layer Dies.  Though the camera does not show it, the snowflake background and sentiment panel are white shimmer paper....looks really pretty in the real.

Dunnuh...Dunnuh...Dunnuh....Shark!!

Hi, everyone!  This week's Sketch Challenge over at Splitcoast gives us all a chance to show how creative our imagination can be!  At first glance, I flipped the sketch upward and thought of a space ship.....THEN I showed it to my hubby and he said, "Well, it's a shark!" I laughed out loud and told him he was a genius and that I was going to do it.....not sure how, but I was gonna make it happen!!  So, using various dies and stamps, masking and sponging, the scene slowly came to life!  Here is a list of items used to create this silly scene:

Stamps: the tiny cake is from 'Recipe Card Icons' from Divinity Designs; the 'Palm Trees' are from DMD; the sentiment is from 'Twice the Wishes' by My Favorite Things.  Dies: from Divinity Designs LLC, Pierced Rectangles, Circles, Matting Rectangle, A2 Portrait Card Base with Layer; the nostrils are actually commas cut from the Alphabet Caps Dies.

The teeth were fussy cut after cutting a circle within another circle, then cutting the teeth from the inside opening with scissors.  The waves on the sentiment panel were cut with scalloped scissors.

Thanks so much for looking!

"I Love Mew" Double Dutch Fold

Hi, everyone!  This week's Sketch Challenge over at Splitcoast was designed around the fun fold known as the Double Dutch Fold.  I have never tried one of these before...it took a little while longer to decorate the extra panels but I love how it turned out!  This is a birthday card for my little niece who just turned one.  The stamps on the front are from the 'Purr-fect' set by My Favorite Things, the sentiments on the inside are from 'Cocktail Mixer' by Newton's Nook.  All of the dies shown are from Divinity Designs LLC: Grass Lawn, Clouds and Raindrops, Double Stitched Squares, Squares, and Double Stitched Rectangles. The small images were colored with markers and the kitty was sponged with wisteria and gray inks using reverse masking. (Before sponging the kitty, her nose and ears were colored with a pink marker, then coated with a clear glaze pen.)  The clouds in the background were sponged over a template created with the same cloud die set.

This is a view of the inside, with the flaps open.

Birthday Cocktail

Hi, everyone!  This week' Sketch Challenge over at Splitcoast was absolutely perfect for creating a birthday card for my hubby.  His card request this year was for me to make a 'Bahama Mama' card (his fave tropical drink when we go on vacation!)  I had been searching for a fun stamp set to buy and found this 'Cocktail Mixer' set by Newton's Nook.  The image was stamped with Stazon Jet Black; everything except for the liquid was colored with markers, then sealed with a clear glaze pen; after the glaze was dry, I used sponges and inks to color in the cocktail.  The background panel was sponged with the same colors: Marigold Morning, Tangerine Tango, and Real Red.  The palm tree dies are from Top Dog Dies, who went out of business several years ago.  The water and clouds were also colored with sponges.  The small strip of designer paper is from the 'Weathered Wood' Paper Collection by Divinity Designs LLC.  Here are the additional items from Divinity Designs LLC: Pierced Rectangles Dies, Matting Rectangle Die, Pierced Circles Dies, Circles Dies, A2 Portrait Card Base with Layer Dies.

Warm Winter Wishes

Hi, everyone!  We have another fun Sketch Challenge for you this week over at Splitcoast!!  For my sample, I have used the 'Snowman and Friends' set by Divinity Designs LLC, along with the following items: Rustic Christmas Slimline Paper Pad and custom dies: Pierced Circles, Pierced Rectangles, Matting Rectangle, A2 Portrait Card Base with Layer, Icicle Border and Treat Tags.  I took a piece of wide burlap ribbon, cut the stitching off of both sides, then cut it in half length-wise.  (Call me silly, but I enjoy pulling the outer strings to cause the frayed edges!) Some irridescent white sequins and Stickles were added for a little sparkle.

Seek Me With All Your Heart

Hi, everyone! For this week's Sketch Challenge over at Splitcoast, we get 'imaginary' bonus points for creating a pocket card.....I haven't made one of these in over a decade!!!  For my sample, the card base is an upside down A2 card, with a flap scored and folded down for the front.  Only the edges are adhered inside so that you can insert the inner panel/tag.  For my card, I used the Birch Background Die from Divinity Designs LLC, cut it down to size with the Pierced Rectangles Dies, then used a paper cutter to separate the pieces for the front and the folded flap.  A white gel pen highlighted all of the embossed parts which are usually stenciled with ink. It took a while to color them all, but I like how it turned out.  For the small sentiment on the front and the inside tag, I used the 'Seek Me' set.  Other dies used: Pierced Circles, Circles, Large Banners, and A2 Portrait Card Base with Layer. Another white banner panel was adhered to the back of the tag for a birthday sentiment and personal message.

Life Is Better With You

Hi, everyone!  This week's Sketch Challenge over at Splitcoast is a slimline design.  I had my heart set on the Floral Background Die from Divinity Designs LLC, but it didn't quite fit on their slimline dies, so I cut my own white card base and added pieces and parts to make it work.  The designer paper is from the 'Watercolor' Paper Pad; the sentiment is from 'Fur-ever Friends' Stamp/Die Duos set, and I used the Pierced Rectangles Dies to cut a black panel, cut it in half and added scraps of the paper to each end.  For the circle element, I chose a black sheer bow, tied with a Bow Easy.  I may go back and add some pearls later.....I'm undecided at the moment.
