"Loving Memories" Sneak Peek!

Hi everyone!  Happy Saturday!!  It's another hot one out today, so I'll be spending the day in my nice, cool stamp room....yay!!  Today I made a card for a few challenges at Splitcoast, using a new set by Our Daily Bread designs, called "Loving Memories" (which will be released tomorrow!).  The Cala Lily stamp from this set was stamped onto the olive cardstock with Versamark ink, for a subtle background, then the sentiment was stamped directly onto a doily cut with a Cheery Lynn Designs "French Pastry" doily die.  The crocheted flower was sent to me a couple of years ago by fellow "Breadstick", sweet Chris Olsen......thanks, Chris!!!

Blessings Flow!

Happy Monday, everyone!  I had so much fun cruising through Laura O'Donnell's gallery yesterday, since she is the Featured Stamper at Splitcoast, that I had to make a second card!  I chose this beautiful CAS (clean and simple) card to case (copy and share everything)!  The design of Laura's card was so simple, yet so clever, so I had to give it a try!  This week's Shining the Light Challenge at Our Daily Bread designs is to use three ODBD stamps on the front of your card, so I used "Large Scrapbook Words", "Blessings", and the "Butterfly Single".

The "Blessed" stamp from the "Large Scrapbook Words" set was inked in Tangerine Tango and stamped three times in a row for a gradient effect.  The sentiment from the "Blessings" set was inked in Stazon Jet Black and overstamped so that the words underneath could still be seen.  The "Butterfly Single" was stamped, then cut out with the custom "Butterfly Die"....check out all of the matching dies HERE for some of the stamped images at Our Daily Bread designs......no more fussy cutting....let the custom cutting dies do all of the work for you!!  The butterfly was colored using a Tangerine Tango marker (Stampin Up), then I used a Signo gel pen to create white markings to make it look like a Monarch Butterfly.  The center of the butterfly was glued directly to the card base, but each wing edge was popped up with foam tape to give extra dimension.

Card 'Ingrdients':
Stamps: Our Daily Bread designs 'Large Scrapbook Words', 'Blessings', and the 'Butterfly Single' stamp;
Cardstock: Stampin Up 'Confetti White;
Ink: Stazon Jet Black, Stampin up Tangerine Tango, Signo Gel Pen;
Accessories: Our Daily Bread designs custom 'Butterfly Die', corner rounder;
Size: 5-1/2 x 5-1/2.

I have also used the following challenges in the making of this card:
Craft Your Passion: Things With Wings;
Pause, Dreamy, Enjoy: Three Things (3 stamps);
Paper Playtime: Anything Goes Plus a Sentiment.

Thanks so much for stopping by!  Have a very blessed week!!!

Hello Sunshine!

Hi everyone!  What a glorious Sunday it has been!   After church, there was nothing to do but take a nap and then play in my stamp room!!!  This card is for my sister-in-law's birthday....it's in a couple of weeks, so I'm ahead for once...yay!!!  There were several challenges used for this card....the fun layout is credited to this week's Featured Stamper over at Splitcoast, the extremely talented Laura O'Donnell.....congrats, Laura!!  Her gallery was a blast to cruise.....I love her whimsical style, with lots of fun scenes (like I LOVE to make), plus tons of Clean and Simple (CAS) inspiration as well!  I chose this super cute card to re-create, using some chipboard flowers covered with Bo Bunny 'Hello Sunshine' designer paper and the 'Thank You Sentiments' set by Our Daily Bread designs.

I have also used the following challenges as well:
The Pile It On Challenge: Make your own embellishments;
Sugar Creek Hollow: Circles (flower centers and dew drops);
Card Positioning Systems: This week's sketch was so close to the card I just made, I had to submit to it!;
Dutch Dare: Summer Fun.

Card 'Ingredients':
Stamps: Our Daily Bread designs 'Thank You Sentiments';

Designer Paper: Bo Bunny 'Hello Sunshine';
Ink: Stampin Up Early Espresso (sponged edges), Island Indigo marker used to color one word of the sentiment at a time in order to stamp on a curve;

Special Blend

Happy Saturday, everyone!  Today I would like to share a fun birthday card I made this morning, while using several challenges.  The Inspiration Challenge over at Splitcoast is to choose an item from the My Sweet Muffin store (kid's stuff)......I chose this adorable tea set as my inspiration so that I could open up my new 6x6 pad of Bo Bunny "Little Miss" designer paper which I received in the mail yesterday! The "Special Blend" set by Our Daily Bread designs was a perfect match!!

The doily image  and sentiment from the "Special Blend" set were stamped onto vanilla cardstock, then I cut the doily out.  I wanted to "stencil" the inside of the doily but not the outside lace, so I stamped the doily onto a piece of scratch paper (below), cut out the inside section with my craft knife, laid the mask over my vanilla piece, and sponged with pink ink and a sponge dauber.

Card 'Ingredients':
Stamps: Our Daily Bread designs 'Special Blend';
Cardstock: Stampin Up Old Olive and Very Vanilla;
Designer Paper: Bo Bunny 'Little Miss';
Ink: Stazon Timber Brown, Stampin Up Early Espresso (sponged edges), and Pink Pirouette;
Accessories: Zva Creative Pearls, Spellbinders Mega Scalloped Ovals and Romantic Rectangles dies, Craft Knife, Crocheted Lace, Paper Piercer and Template, 'Pearl' Glimmer Mist, sponge daubers, foam tape;
Size: 5-1/2 x 5-1/2.

Note: The three little tea cups were cut out from the designer paper....aren't they cute?! :)

I will also be submitting to the following challenges:
The layout design of my card is from this week's Sketch Challenge over at The Sweet Stop;
Daring Cardmakers: Anything Sweet (I love my tea sweet!!!!);
Paper Play: Use a Die;
Fab N Funky: Polka Dots;
Friday Free4All at Splitcoast: Paper Piercing.

Thanks so much for stopping by!  Have a very blessed weekend!!

Baby Shower Card and Gift for Baby Emma!

Happy Friday, everyone! Today I would like to share a baby-shower card and nameframe gift for a dear friend who is expecting a little girl next month.  In order to match the colors of the nursery, I had to dig into my retired stash of Stampin Up designer paper....I'm not sure what the name is...sorry!  The white picket fence was cut with the "Fence Die" by Our Daily Bread designs.  The "Nested Bird" and "Jasmine Frame" are die cuts by Memory Box. The scripture verse, which I thought was perfect for a baby card, is from Our Daily Bread designs "Scripture Series 2".

I will be submitting this card to the following challenges:
Splitcoast Friday Free4All: Paper Piercing...yay, my fave embellishment!;
Dutch Dare: Summer Fun;
Paper Play: Use A Die;
Paper Playtime: Anything Goes & a sentiment;
Pile It On: Let's Get Outdoors;
CAS-usual Fridays: Pretty In Pink.

This is the matching nameframe which will hang in Emma's nursery.  I used the same "Fence Die", along with the "Spring Border" die by Memory Box.  The border was cut out twice with the designer paper, for the greenery layer, then I also cut out a pink and yellow layer, snipped the flower blossoms, and glued them over the green layer....this wasn't difficult, but took a little while!  Since this frame depth did not have enough space for chipboard or popped up elements, I traced some chipboard letters onto the designer paper, then cut them out, sponged the edges, then adhered them directly to the main panel.

I will be submitting this frame for the following challenges:
Splitcoast Friday Free4All: Paper Piercing;
Dutch Dare: Summer Fun;
Papertake Weekly: Bingo: Punches, Glitter, and Blooms;
Crafty Cardmakers: No cards, tags, or ATC's;
Fab n Funky: Polka Dots.

Thanks so much for stopping by!  Have a very blessed weekend!!!

Our Daily Bread designs "For The Love...." Hop!!

Hello, everyone, and Happy Thursday to you! Welcome to Our Daily Bread Design's Alumni Team's bi-monthly "For the Love" Blog Hop. This week the Alumni team along with some of the ODBD designers are featuring a hop "For the Love of ODBD Good Steward sets"! Check out each link and leave a comment. If you get lost along the way, check the ODBD blog for full list of links. One of the posts is a "hop hot spot" and a name will be drawn from that list of comments to win a $15 ODBD store gift certificate. So, all you have to do is hop along and see all the creations and leave a little love! You have until Wednesday, July 4th at 6 pm EDT to complete the hop. Enjoy all the awesome inspiration using For the Love of ODBD Good Steward sets!

If you have hopped here from sweet Grace's amazing blog, you are in the right place. If not, please head over to the ODBD Blog and start from the beginning....we don't want you to miss a thing!

For my first sample today, I have used one of my favorite ODBD stamps, the "Prayer of St. Francis".  These beautiful words have always been profound for me.....to be a blessing to others in a world of negativity and darkness is all I have ever wanted to do.

The shaped card base was cut out with Spellbinders Romantic Rectangles using my Spellbinders Grand Calibur, then I cut another panel from the Bo Bunny "Ambrosia" designer paper collection to adhere to the top in order to cover up the fold. (Click HERE for a tutorial on how to cut a shaped card using cutting dies.) The "Prayer of St. Francis" was stamped directly onto the designer paper.  The "2-step Butterfly" outline was stamped onto the same "Ambrosia' paper, then cut out using the custom "Grunge Butterfly Die". The edges of the designer paper and butterfly were sponged in tangerine to bring out the accent color in the paper. My original plan was to embellish this very heavily, but after adding the lace, I decided it was beautiful on its own.

I will be submitting this card to the following challenges:
Paper Play: Die Cuts;
Paper Playtime: Anything Goes Plus a Sentiment.

For my next sample, I used another powerful set, "Mother Teresa"!  More words of wisdom here....I love this set!!!

Since I still had the Bo Bunny "Ambrosia" paper pad on my desk, I decided to use it for my second sample! The colors are so vivid and rich and beautiful!!  I chose dark teal cardstock, and pink and lavender ink to compliment the colors in the designer paper.  The flower shaped panel was cut from the Spellbinders "Blossom Tags and Accents" die set, the pearls are from Want2Scrap, the lace is Prima, and thanks to the dark cardstock, you can actually see the 'Pearl' Glimmer Mist I sprayed over the finished card!!

I will be submitting this for the following challenges:
Sketch Challenge 390 at Splitcoast Stampers;
Paper Play: Die Cuts;
Paper Playtime: Anything Goes Plus a Sentiment.

Now....back to the hop!!!! Your next stop is with "card-making-machine", Lori!!! Hold onto your socks, folks, because Lori has made not one, not two, but three amazing samples for your viewing pleasure today!!!!

Thanks for hanging out with me and the other Breadsticks today! Happy Hopping and God bless!

Penguin's Birthday Blessings on the Beach!

Hi everyone! Today I have a fun birthday card to share with you! This little penguin from "Polar Pals" has always been one of my fave Stampin Up images....isn't he adorable? I used paper-piecing on the sun and palm tree (by stamping on designer paper, cutting out and adhering over the stamped cardstock pieces). The sand was created by tearing and sponging; the water was sponged over a piece of scratch paper; the clouds were sponged over a punched scalloped circle.

I will be submitting this for the following challenges:
Splitcoast Color Challenge CC380: Tangerine, Chocolate, and Artichoke;
Paper Playtime: Anything Goes plus a Sentiment;
Stampin Sisters in Christ: Reflection of Me (I LOVE the sun!);
Raise The Bar: Hello Summer!.

Card details:
Stamps: Stampin Up 'Polar Pals' and 'Itty Bitty Backgrounds', Our Daily Bread designs 'Happy Birthday', and the palm tree and sun are from a Target $1 spot clear stamp set 'Fun and Sun Collection';

Designer Paper: SEI 'Sunny Day' (for paper-pieced sun and palm tree);

Clean And Simple Thank You

Hi everyone! Today's card is another try at "Clean and Simple"....I used to be totally frightened at the thought of so much empty space and I would fill up every square inch.....and then some!!! Thanks to Splitcoast and Blogland, I have found so much inspiration from studying other stampers' work....I am grateful to all of the CAS artists out there who have helped me to de-clutter!!

Once I had a plan for my card, I knew that I wanted to sponge around the stamped image, so I created two different masks (below) out of scratch paper. One I cut around the outside, just inside the stamped line (this helps your sponging to come right to the edge of the stamped image with no white spaces); The second image I cut out the insides of the basket handles with my craft knife, so that I could cleanly sponge the blue in there too without ruining the coloring of the handles. **Tip: since the basket handles are very thin, before cutting them out, I placed some scotch tape on the backside of the paper to strengthen it, so that the thin strips of paper would not tear while I was sponging over them. Clear as mud?!

I will be submitting to the following challenges:
Our Daily Bread designs Shining The Light Challenge: Summertime;
Splitcoast's Featured Stamper this week is Emily Keaton......yay, Emily!!  Her gallery has so many different styles.....there were several CAS cards I sketched out which I will definitely be case-ing, but I finally decided on this beautiful card.....I love the simple design, plus she uses scoring a lot, which I thought was very cool, so I used my little friend, the Scor-buddy, to help with that...oops, I forgot to round the top corner!
Crafty Pad: Food Challenge;
Stampin Sisters In Christ: Reflection of yourself.....I love summer and picnics, I love to eat, and as far as card-making goes, I love tedious work such as using my craft knife and using masking;
Raise The Bar: Hello Summer.

Card 'Ingredients':
Stamps: Our Daily Bread designs 'Thank You';
Cardstock: Stampin Up 'Confetti White';
Ink: Stazon Jet Black, Stampin Up markers: Real Red, Creamy Caramel, Lucky Limeade, Really Rust, and a Bashful Blue Ink Pad for sponging;
Accessories: Scor-buddy scoring tool, scratch paper for masking, craft knife, and sponge dauber;
Size: A2.

Thanks for stopping by!  Have a blessed day!!

Clean and Simple Sailboat

Hi everyone!  It's time to share another "manly" card! Masculine cards can be difficult at times, but luckily this one went together pretty quickly...yay! Fab-n-Funky: Father's Day;
Pink Elephant: Masculine;
Stampin Sisters In Christ: Action (Sailing);

Crazy For Cajun Craze and Shaped Cards!

Oh, how I love to make shaped cards!  They have so much more "character" than square or A2 cards, don't you agree?

This scene from "With Deepest Sympathy" by Our Daily Bread designs was stamped and colored while the cardstock was still in the Labels 8 cutting die, for the appearance of being matted without adding another layer.  Though this is a sympathy set, I love to use it often for masculine cards....I know I've said it many times, but Our Daily Bread designs entire stamp line is sooooo versatile!!!

I will be submitting to the following challenges:
Splitcoast Color Challenge#379: Cajun Craze, Cherry Cobbler, Baja Breeze, and Lucky Limeade;
Craft Your Passion: Anything Goes;
Paper Playtime: Die Cuts plus Vacation;
Pink Elephant: Masculine;
Papertake Weekly: 3-2-1: 3 pieces of linen thread, two pieces of cardstock, and 1 piece of designer paper;
Stampin Sisters in Christ: image only on front of card;
Crafty Pad: Lets Hear it for the Boys.

Card 'Ingredients':
Stamps: Our Daily Bread designs 'With Deepest Sympathy';
Cardstock: Stampin up Cajun Craze and Whisper White;
Designer Paper: Basic Grey 'Pyrus';
Ink: Stazon Jet Black, Stampin Up Ink Pads and Markers;
Accessories: Spellbinders Grand Calibur Die Cut Machine, Spellbinders Labels 8 dies, Stampin Up Linen Thread, Paper Piercer (for freehand piercing), sponge daubers, foam tape;

I have used a couple of challenges in the making of this card.  This week's Featured Stamper over at Splitcoast is Stephanie aka Booga3....I have several cards on my list to case from her amazing gallery, but my card today is cased from this adorable card.  I loved the simple layout of it!

Inspiration Challenge and More!

Happy Saturday, everyone! I'm so happy to have no plans today away from home, so that I can play in my stamp room! There are several challenges I have participated in during the making of this card. The Inspiration Challenge over at Splitcoast is to choose an item from the Artful Whimsy store.....I chose this pendant instantly, since I have a stamp with the exact sentiment, from the Our Daily Bread designs "Sentiments Collection"!!

The Pink Elephant Challenge: Vibrant Colors;
Sugar Creek Hollow: Make your own designer paper;
Perfect Sentiments: All about love and lacy elements (hopefully love for a friend counts for the challenge);
Our Creative Corner: use a Tim Holtz technique....I used tearing and distressing....on a tag.

To create the patterned butterfly, I inked up the Brocade Background stamp, "kissed" the 2-Step Butterfly stamp onto the inked background to pick up the design, stamped it onto vanilla cardstock, then cut it out with the custom "Grunge Butterfly Die".
.

Card 'Ingredients':
Stamps: Our Daily Bread designs 'Plain Tag', 'Sentiments Collection', 'Brocade Background', '2-Step Butterflies' from the 'God's Love' set;
Cardstock: Stampin Up Very Vanilla;
Ink: Stazon Fuschia Pink, Stazon Timber Brown, and Ranger 'Antique Linen' Distress Ink;
