Christian Paper Crafts Challenges Plus More!

Wow, I am way behind on my blogging this week, so I am posting three projects at once. I'll try to make it short and sweet....I promise!

This first card I made for the Wednesday Case Artist Challenge at Christian Paper Crafts....congrats to Becky Reed for being this week's artist! I chose this gorgeous card to re-create. I also used Jen's Color Monday Challenge of turquoise, kraft, white, and optional black.....this Basic Grey "Capella" paper had the perfect colors. The sentiment is from the "Light" set, the first of a new "Full of Grace" line by Our Daily Bread designs. I used a Bow Easy to tie the May Arts Satin Ribbon; the pearls are by Zva Creative; there are several layers of "Pearl" Glimmer Mist for a shimmery finish. Some other challenges which were included: Aud Sentiments Challenge: Anything Goes (with a sentiment); Delightful Sketches & Challenges: "Girly, Pearls, and Lace" (my lace is the doily lace punch, btw!); the Creative Card Crew challenge: Sparkle and Shine; the Sentimental Sundays challenge: Words to Inspire; and the Stampin' Sisters in Christ Challenge: Trust In Him.

My second card was created for my Bible Verse Thursday Challenge at Christian Paper Crafts.....this week's challenge is to use summer flowers plus a verse of your choice. I have also included the following challenges: Aud Sentiments Challenge: Anything Goes (with a sentiment); Charisma Cardz challenge: Hot, Hot, Hot (sunflowers bloom in the hottest part of summer); the Creative Card Crew challenge: Sparkle and Shine; Lexi's Creations challenge: Emboss It; and the Sentimental Sundays challenge: Words to Inspire. I used the ODBD set, "From Me To You", and cut out and popped up the words from the scripture verse; the sunflowers are Pre-cut 3d flowers by Ecstasy Crafts; the ribbon is by May Arts; I used the Cuttlebug large embossing folder, Polka Dots, to emboss the card; and used "Pearl" Glimmer Mist on the card base only.

My third project was made for the Scripture Saturday Challenge at Christian Paper Crafts. The challenge is to use the verse from Psalm 119:45 on your layout, card, altered item, etc. This eagle image is from a greeting card which I couldn't part with....the embossed eagle and scene was just too gorgeous! Mary's challenge today was the perfect opportunity to use this image. The verse was printed from my pc and cut out with a Spellbinders Ribbon Tags Trio die, added twill ribbon, paper piercing, and some Hero Arts Metallic Dots. I'm going to give this to hubby for his computer desk (since it was originally his card years ago!) This also qualifies for the Our Daily Bread designs' Shining the Light Challenge: "Texture It"....the entire scene is embossed beautifully; the Fun On Friday Challenge at Christian Paper Crafts: "No Coloring". Also, the Paper Cutz challenge is to use something metal; the Belli Challenge: Round and Metal (my forgotten embellies are the metallic dots I picked up in the clearance section at Archiver's months ago); and the Sentimental Sundays challenge: Words To Inspire.

Whew! I think that's it! Now.....back to my room....more projects to finish today!

Thanks so much for stopping by! Have a blessed weekend!!

Bible Verse Thursday, Stamping in Time, Shining the Light

Happy Thursday, everyone!! Here comes another challenge combo!

Today at
Christian Paper Crafts, the Bible Verse Thursday Challenge theme is "Harvest". Use any scripture verse relating to harvesting....OR use an image relating to Harvest time plus a scripture verse to go with it.

I have combined several sets from
Our Daily Bread designs for my sample today. The sparrow is from "He watches Me", the wheat is from "Our Daily Bread", and the scripture is from "Harvest Blessings". After stamping the wheat multiple times, I colored the background with sponge daubers, then stamped another row of wheat and the sparrow to pop up for dimension. The gold May Arts Ribbon was tied with a Bow Easy, topped with a Basic Grey button. The designer paper is Memory Box; instead of using pearls, I embellished with "Flame" dew drops instead. Though it is extremely camera shy, there are about six layers of "Irridescent Gold" Glimmer Mist.

Also today is the beginning of the next Our Daily Bread designs'
Stamping In Time: On Assignment Challenge, which will be open for two weeks. This week's guest hostess is Mary Marsh.....Mary has challenge us to use any ODBD bird image plus design your project around a season....I chose fall/autumn for my season. Remember, you must use ODBD stamps as your primary focal point to play in this challenge. Please see all of the details on how to win $ toward ODBD stamps on the ODBD blog post HERE.

Please visit these lovely ladies, who have shared samples for this challenge:
Fran
Betty

Chrissy
Mary

Also, I have combined Saturday's Shining The Light Challenge, to use an image repeatedly....the wheat stamp was used many times in the making of the wheat field! You still have one more day to play in this challenge, however, there will be a brand new Shining the Light Challenge first thing Saturday morning....with another chance to win!!

I have also used the following challenges in the making of this card:
Jennipher's Sketch Tuesday Challenge at Christian Paper Crafts;
Gingersnap Creations: 3-dimensional;
The Pink Elephant: Ribbon and sparkles;
Stamptacular Sunday: Buttons and Bows;
All Sorts Challenge: paper piercing or paper piecing;
Creative Card Crew: sparkle and shine;

Aud Sentiments Challenge: "Anything goes" sentiment.

Before I sign off here, just wanted to remind you that you still have until September 1st to submit your projects and articles for the next online issue of Christian Paper Crafts Magazine. Submit your projects here and your articles here. Can't wait to see your submissions!!

Another Triple Threat!

This card I made for my dear friends and mentors, Frank and Irene Miesse from Springfield, Ohio, who are celebrating their 60th Anniversary! Some gift ideas for 60th Anniversary are diamonds or white roses....since I couldn't be there to give them either in person, I included gemstones and roses on their card instead!

This week's Shabby Tea Room Challenge is to use this gorgeous photo for your inspiration.....this was just the inspiration I needed to get started!

Card details:
Stamps: Our Daily Bread designs' "Love" set;
Cardstock: Prism Metallic, SU Whisper White and Always Artichoke;
Accessories: Gemstones and Paper Roses by Zva Creative, May Arts Ribbon, Bow Easy, Oval Nestabilities, "Dazzling Diamonds" Glimmer Mist, Scor-Buddy, EK Success Dotted Scallop Border Punch.

This week's Bible Verse Thursday Challenge theme at Christian Paper Crafts is "It's About Time". Use any verse which mentions anything related to time, the passing of time, or days or nights, etc.....OR.....use any theme that is time related, plus a scripture verse of your choice. I have also used Jennipher's Sketch Tuesday Challenge, plus the following challenges:
Etsy Inspired Challenge #100!: I chose the coral butterfly pendant from the Cathy Walters store...some gorgeous stuff there!;
Stamp Something: I used the flowers and colors from the photo for my inspiration;
One Stop Craft Challenge: Summer Fun;
Fab 'n Funky: Use your favorite colors;
Little Red Wagon: Summer;
Stampin B's: Create a Scene.

Card Details:
I have used the "Don't Worry" set from Our Daily Bread designs.....this is one scripture that has always reminded me not to worry about anything....worrying is nothing but a waste of time and energy! The designer paper is SEI "Mimosa", the ribbon is by May Arts, the bow was tied using a Bow Easy, the pearls are Zva Creative and there are several layers of "Pearl" Glimmer Mist
even though it is camera shy! Using SEI chalk inks, I inked direct to paper with a peachy/coral color until the color was saturated....waited a few moments for it to dry, then dabbed my finger in pink chalk ink and highlighted the coral here and there. Once that was dry, I stamped the flowers and butterfly over the colors with Stazon Jet Black ink, cut them out and popped them up on the panel which was framed with one of the new frame sets by Our Daily Bread designs, "Flower Frames 2". These frame sets were designed for "Scripture Collection 1" and "Scripture Collection 2", which both have larger sized scripture verses, but I thought the larger frame was perfect for a scene instead!! The frame and mat were cut by hand.

My last sample today shows one of the August releases by Our Daily Bread designs, called "Happy Fall". Though I didn't use it here, there is a custom die cut for the sunflower image in this set! Did you know that ODBD now has cutting dies? Check them out here.....there will be more next month too!!!

I wanted to try the "Faux Tile" technique again.....I used my new Scor-Buddy (coming soon to the ODBD store...in just a few days!) to score the squares, stamped the sunflowers, colored them and sponged around them, then embossed the entire panel with Ranger Clear Embossing Powder. The tag is Spellbinders Ribbon Tags Trio and I used gingham ribbon and "Flame" Dew Drops to finish.

I used the following challenges in the making of this card:
Our Creative Corner: Embossing;
Card Positioning Systems Sketch which I flipped on the side;
A Crafty Little Place: One tag (my tag is the Ribbon Tag from Spellbinders).

Thanks so much for stopping by today! I'm headed out shortly to the Cincinnati Stampaway USA craft show.....if anyone is going, make sure to stop by the Our Daily Bread designs booth and say hi!

Have a blessed weekend, everyone!!!

Pink Blessings and Treat Box

Here are a couple of Splitcoast's "Dare To Get Dirty" projects from last week, though I'm a bit late showing them here. By the way, I was able to complete all 33 challenges, combined into 11 projects, and actually won a six month subscription extension to the Fan Club at Splitcoast....yay!!! I love these special challenges each July....winning makes them even better!!!

My first project highlights one of the sentiments from
"Harvest Blessings", new this month from Our Daily Bread designs. (I left off the word "Harvest" from the sentiment!) The paper is some of my fave....Memory Box "Jubilee" , the flowers are 3D Pre-cut Flowers by Ecstasy Crafts....see the Product Review I wrote for Our Daily Bread designs' blog HERE. Other card "ingredients": Bow Easy, May Arts Satin Ribbon, Basic Grey Opaline Pearls, Spellbinders Circle Nesties and Fancy Tags, and lots of "Dazzling Diamonds" Glimmer Mist!!

This little treat box was made from a recycle Scotch Tape box, which was dis-assembled, decorated with Basic Grey "Wassail" designer paper, a sentiment from the Our Daily Bread designs' set "Peace and Joy" , Hero Arts Metallic Dots, and retired SU True Thyme ribbon. Once the box was taken apart, I used a Nestie circle to cut out the hole, since I didn't have a far-reaching punch.

Thanks so much for stopping by today!! Have a blessed weekend!!!!

Bible Verse Thursday and Stamping in Time with ODBD

Wow, it's Thursday again already!!! Time for another Bible Verse Thursday Challenge at Christian Paper Crafts. This week's challenge theme is "Reaping and Sowing". Most of us have heard the saying, "You reap what you sow." , which comes from Galatians 6:7

"Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap."

Even non-Christians believe this, but call it "Karma".....or "what goes around comes around". No matter if you believe the Bible or not, the principles are still the truth. If you sow goodness, you will reap goodness.......if you sow wickedness or bad attitudes, the same will be returned to you. Another perspective to reaping and sowing......if you ever feel that you are not getting the respect you deserve, or the support you need, or any kind words from anyone, or even money, and so on.......stop and think.....have you sowed any of those things to someone else lately? Whatever you are lacking.....odds are that you haven't been doing your part. After all, what we do should never be about
"me", but should always be about them! So get out there and sow some blessings!!

Okay, back to the Bible Verse Thursday Challenge......
the challenge is to use a verse about anything that is sown or reaped (use your imagination).......or an image of the same theme along with a scripture verse. I can't wait to see what you come up with!!

For my challenge sample, I have used a new set by Our Daily Bread designs, called "Happy Fall", along with Basic Grey "Max and Whiskers" designer paper, Basic Grey pearls, and May Arts Satin Ribbon.

*************************************************************************************

Today also brings a brand new Stamping In Time: On Assignment Challenge on the Our Daily Bread designs' blog. The assignment: use any ODBD stamps; the challenge: use your favorite "go-to" sketch/layout. When I'm in a hurry, this is what I use.....it's a simple design, but it works!!! I have also used the ODBD Shining the Light Challenge, to use ribbon, a charm, and only one other embellishment....except for flowers, unless your charm is a flower. Betty's Color Challenge over at Splitcoast this week is to use Riding Hood Red, Blushing Bride, and Early Expresso....I don't have any of the new SU colors yet, so I chose this Basic Grey "Bittersweet" designer paper which fit perfectly! Also, the Ways to Use It Challenge is to "Stick It".....my take on the challenge is paper piercing....I "stick it" to nearly every card I make!!!!

If you'd like to play along, please check out the details HERE with instructions on how to win $ toward ODBD stamps!!! Check out some gorgeous challenge Stamping in Time samples below:

Fran
Sabrina

The "ingredients" for my SNT card are a scripture verse from Scripture Collections 2 by Our Daily Bread designs, along with Basic Grey "Bittersweet" designer paper, Zva Creative Pearls, a Martha Stewart Doily Lace Border Punch, corner rounder, Bow Easy, May Arts Satin Ribbon, and lots of Pearl Glimmer Mist.

Thanks so much for stopping by today!!! Many blessings to you!!!!

Our Daily Bread designs New Release/Blog Hop

Wow, can you believe that July is gone and August is here? I sure hate to see summer go by so fast, but I'm happy to see that Our Daily Bread designs has SIX new sets to release this month, plus custom made cutting dies for two of ODBD's stamped images!!!! Please see the New Release Post on the ODBD blog for all of the juicy details and to see all of the new sets!!! I usually display all of the new sets here, but since there are six sets plus the new dies, my post would be a novel!!!!

My sample today was made with the new "Don't Worry" set.....I absolutely LOVE this chicory flower image and the realistic butterfly is gorgeous too!! Using masking, I stamped the chicory image repeatedly on this tri-fold card, cut the flower outlines on the top of the two outside panels and punched the center panel with a Martha Stewart picket fence punch. The flowers were colored with Stampin Up markers, the apricot background was colored with a sponge dauber. The butterfly was sponged first with apricot, then highlighted with a Ruby Red marker and a white gel pen. This was a bit time consuming, but I will definitely make another one like it!!

Now.....the moment you've been waiting for....on to the Blog Hop!! If you have hopped here from Grace's blog, you are in the right place. If not, please start at the ODBD blog to start at the beginning and get all of the deets on how to win $15.00 toward ODBD stamps!!! There will be three lucky hoppers to win. You have until 8 PM EST on August 2nd to complete the hop.

Your next hopping point is Kathy's blog......oh my goodness...wait until you see her creation......break out the drool bib!!!

Thanks so much for stopping by today!!! Good luck on the hop and have a blessed week!!!!
