Bible Verse Thursday - Give Thanks!

Happy Friday, everyone! After a busy week, I'm thankful to have some down time this weekend! This week's Bible Verse Thursday theme over at Christian Paper Crafts is 'Thankful for God's Love'. I have used the 'Give Thanks' set by Our Daily Bread designs for my sample. When I think about how much God loves us, it is hard to wrap my mind around what it really means! I pray daily for the Lord to soften my heart....that I could love others as much as He loves us. That is a big order, however, He created the heavens, the earth, and all that there is, so this should be small potatoes for Him, if I could only get my stiff-neck out of the way!

I wanted to make the most of the rich colors in this SEI designer paper, so I stamped the image in More Mustard, then overstamped the scripture verse in black. Once the circle was cut, I sponged Cajun Craze around the edge of the die.

Card 'Ingredients':
Stamps: Our Daily Bread designs 'Give Thanks';
Cardstock: SU More Mustard, Cajun Craze, and Whisper White;
Designer Paper: 'Homestead' by SEI;
Ink: Stazon Jet Black, SU More Mustard and Cajun Craze;
Accessories: Spellbinders Lacey Circles and Circle Nestabilities, Gemstones by Nestabling, May Arts Crocheted Lace and Satin Ribbon, CM Corner Rounder, Paper Piercer and Template, Sponge Dauber, Foam Tape, Bow Easy;
Size: 5-1/2 square.

Thanks for stopping by today! Hope you are enjoying your weekend! God Bless!

"The LORD is exalted; for he dwelleth on high: he hath filled Zion with judgment and righteousness.
And wisdom and knowledge shall be the stability of thy times, and strength of salvation: the fear of the LORD is his treasure." Isaiah 33:5-6

"Then Jesus beholding him loved him, and said unto him, One thing thou lackest: go thy way, sell whatsoever thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come, take up the cross, and follow me." Mark 10:21

There are many things here on earth we consider "treasures", however, the true treasure is found through Christ! Today's challenge theme is all about treasure, either the earthly or heavenly kind....things or people in your life that you treasure, words or scripture that you treasure, something you would find in a treasure chest such as gems, gold, pearls,etc. We can't wait to see your take on the challenge!!

Bible Verse Thursday Challenge - Planting Seeds

"For as the rain cometh down, and the snow from heaven, and returneth not thither, but watereth the earth, and maketh it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower, and bread to the eater: So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it. For ye shall go out with joy, and be led forth with peace: the mountains and the hills shall break forth before you into singing, and all the trees of the field shall clap their hands." Isaiah 55:10-12

As we Christians share in our faith, seeds are planted into the hearts and minds of others. It is our joyful duty to plant those seeds....it is up to the Lord whether they grow right away....or lay dormant for a time. We should never be frustrated when they "don't get it", because the Lord did say that His word will not return void. Hallelujah!!!

And so, this week's Bible Verse Thursday Challenge theme at Christian Paper Crafts is "Planting Seeds"! Create a card, layout, altered item, or gift using this theme in any way you choose. Choose your favorite verse which would be good advice (or good seeds, if you will) for a friend or loved one. Use an image of something you plant or what grows because of seeds....veggies, fruits, flowers, etc. Or, if you feel like going over the edge, use real seeds on your project! Let's see your creative take on the challenge....have fun!!

If you are not yet a memeber of Christian Paper Crafts, you can still play along with any of the challenges by linking your project to the Christian Paper Crafts Creative Blog.....HERE is a direct link to this week's Bible Verse Challenge. If you haven't had a chance yet to check out our wonderful community at Christian Paper Crafts, you have a chance to sign up as a "Blessed Believer" (general member) for free during Resurrection Week, April 20-27. Why is there normally a fee to become a member, you ask? While the Bible Studies and Daily Devotionals are free to the public, the community forums and galleries were changed to members only first of all to prevent spamming, plus to create a safe environment in which our members share private information through prayer requests and chat forums. Not only is Christian Paper Crafts is a wonderful place to fellowship with other Christians, but there is lots of paper crafting inspiration as well for those who love to bless others with hand made cards and gifts. Come on over and make yourself right at home!!!

Bible Verse Thursday Challenge #100! - Heart to Heart!

"Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean: wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow. Make me to hear joy and gladness; that the bones which thou hast broken may rejoice. Hide thy face from my sins, and blot out all mine iniquities. Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me." Psalm 51:7-10

For this week's Bible Verse Thursday Challenge over at Christian Paper Crafts, create a card, layout, or altered item "from the heart". Do you need to have a "heart to heart" conversation with a friend or loved one?....Begin that conversation with God's word and see where it leads. Or create something for someone dear to your heart. Another option for the challenge is to use hearts on your project, whether it be stamps, gems, designer paper, etc. Let's see those hearts.....literally, emotionally, or spiritually! Have fun and God Bless!

Bible Verse Thursday / Stamping in Time Challenge Combo!

Happy Thursday, everyone!! It's time again for a new Bible Verse Thursday Challenge over at Christian Paper Crafts AND a brand new Stamping In Time: On Assignment Challenge over at the Our Daily Bread designs blog! You know I can't resist challenge combos, so I have combined these two once again!

Here are the deets for the Bible Verse Thursday Challenge:

"It is of the LORD's mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness. The LORD is my portion, saith my soul; therefore will I hope in him." Lamentations 3:22-24

This week's Bible Verse Thursday Challenge theme is "Measure Up"! While creating your card, layout, altered item, or gift, think of different ways that we use "measurements"...we measure time (day, night, calendars, clocks, etc.), we measure ingredients while cooking, we measure our material when sewing, etc. Perhaps you could use a scripture which speaks of measurements...."my cup runneth over", or "the Lord is my portion", etc. We can't wait to see your take on the challenge! I have also incorporated last week's Wednesday Case Artist challenge...I couldn't pass up the opportunity to case one of sweet Lynn Ray's beautiful cards.....I chose this gorgeous card to re-create. Also, this week's Shining the Light Challenge at ODBD is all about new life/flowers/easter, etc......couldn't resist but incorporate it too!!!

Here is the "ingredients list" for my "Measure Up" sample:
Stamps: Our Daily Bread designs "Scripture Collection 5"
Cardstock: SU Marina Mist, Whisper White
Designer Paper: Memory Box "Minuet"
Ink: SU Marina Mist
Accessories: Flower Soft Card Topper, Ultrafine Flower Soft Raspberry Fizz and Sage, Original Flower Soft Baby Blue, Zva Creative Pearls, "Pearl" Glimmer Mist, May Arts Crocheted Lace and Satin Ribbon, Bow Easy, Paper Piercer and template

Our Daily Bread designs' 3rd Anniversary Blog Hop!

Welcome to Our Daily Bread designs' 3rd Anniversary New Release Blog Hop!!!! What a total blessing it is to be a part of such a wonderful company and an amazing team of Christian ladies! An extra blessing is to be able to choose a scripture verse to be made into a rubber stamp for the Scripture Collection sets on each anniversary!! Check out all of the Anniversary New Releases HERE. The verse I chose this year is Psalm 85:11 "Faithfulness springs forth from the earth, and righteousness looks down from heaven." Each of the "Breadsticks" from the design team, challenge team, and scrapbook team chose a verse.....these make up the new anniversary sets of Scripture Collection 5, Scripture Collection 6, and Scripture Collection 7. Plus, there is an awesome new border set, called "Fancy Labels" , which I have also used on my sample.

The Fancy Label was stamped twice in Cool Caribbean, cut out the center oval of one, sponged the edges, and popped it up in the center over the 2nd Fancy Label, which was cut out with Spellbinders Labels 17. The designer paper is Prima "Madeline", the Offray ribbon (which my mother-in-law picked up at a yard sale!) was tied with a Bow Easy. Paper piercing, Basic Grey Opaline Pearls, and lots of "Pearl" Glimmer Mist was added for the finishing touches.

I have used my new verse for the Bible Verse Thursday Challenge over at Christian Paper Crafts, for which the theme is "Heaven and Earth". I have also used Gloria's Sketch Tuesday Challenge for the layout of this card;
The Color Challenge at Splitcoast this week is Soft Suede, Baja Breeze, and Crumb Cake...what a beautiful combo!;

Bible Verse Thursday Challenge - Rise & Shine!

Happy Thursday, everyone!!! Time for another Bible Verse Thursday Challenge over at Christian Paper Crafts. To give you a sneak peek of what's to come (on the 15th) for this month's Design Team Delights theme of "He Is Risen", this week's BVT challenge theme is "Rise & Shine"! Every spring, many Christians are getting ready to celebrate Resurrection Day (or Easter, for some)....where we focus on our Lord's ultimate sacrifice and gift for us. Not only did He die for our personal salvation, but according to God's law, this was the only way that we could be re-married to Him. I can only image how beautiful the marriage ceremony will be!!

Now, back to the challenge...there are MANY ways to approach this theme....please feel free to think outside of the box. Here are some options for this challenge (and remember, cards, layouts, altered items, etc are all welcome!):
Create a project focusing on Jesus, the cross, scriptures about His death, burial, or resurrection, our salvation;
On the less serious side, you could focus on other things that rise, like the sun, or the tide, or breads/pastries, etc.;
Now on the "shine" side of the challenge, use something shiny, or sunshine, or what happens when it's sunny, etc. Get the picture? Stretch the challenge any way you like, just let us know what your inspiration was.

I have also used the following challenges in the making of this card:
Gloria's done it again this week for
Sketch Tuesday at CPC.....see her awesome sketch to the left;
Mary's
Color Monday Challenge at CPC ...the inspiration photo is full of beautiful blues and browns;
CCEE Challenge: swirls (there are swirls on the designer paper);
Pals Paper Arts: Color Challenge of Baja Breeze, Soft Suede and Crumb Cake.

Thanks so much for stopping by today!!! God Bless!!!!

Bible Verse Thursday Challenge and ODBD Sneak Peek!!

Happy Thursday, everyone!!! Time for another Bible Verse Thursday Challenge at Christian Paper Crafts! This week's challenge is similar to an inspiration challenge. I was recently reading about John The Baptist in Matthew and thought he would be a wonderful inspirational theme for Bible Verse Thursday. John states in Matthew 3:30, "He must increase, but I must decrease." These words have always stuck in my head, especially when my world gets wrapped around me instead of the Lord.....this verse is always an attitude adjustment for me. Now, as far as paper-crafting, the same applies. Sometimes we get all wrapped up in the pretty papers and popular doo-dads and His message gets a little lost. So, for today, the challenge theme of "John, The Baptist" may be used in many ways....here are some examples:Less is More (create a project with less embellishments and more focus on His word),since John the Baptist wore skins, use something fuzzy or furry on your project;he was also known to live in the wilderness and eat locusts and honey...incorporate something from these attributes;John baptized many, including our Savior.....create a project about baptism.The possibilities here are up to you.....hope you can play along!! For my sample, I chose the "Less is More" option.....no extra layers, no sponging, and no paper piercing....very CAS for me!

Card details:
I have used a brand new set from Our Daily Bread designs, "Daffodil Tag Set", which will be released on March 1st. The tag was stamped, colored, and cut out with the ODBD "Tag Die", then layered over an A2 sized card (Daffodil Delight) which was "Cuttlebug'd" with a Polka Dots embossing folder. The pearls are by Zva Creative, the May Arts satin ribbon was gathered and tied with SU Linen Thread, and there are several sprays of "Pearl" Glimmer Mist.

Along with
Bible Verse Thursday, I have used the following challenges in the making of this card:
Wednesday CASE Artist challenge at Christian Paper Crafts is to choose a project from Korin's gallery.....I chose this clean and simple beauty!;
Color Create: Choose 3 fruits from the inspiration photo: green apple, banana, and papaya;
Stampin B's: Use a flower on your project;
Creative Cottage: Fabulous Florals;
Freshly Brewed Challenges: Ribbons and bows;
Frosted Designs: No designer paper.

Thanks so much for stopping by today!!! God Bless!!!

Bible Verse Thursday Challenge - Storms of Life

Happy Thursday, everyone!!! Time for another Bible Verse Thursday Challenge at Christian Paper Crafts! This week's challenge theme is "Storms of Life".....we all go through rough patches in life when we feel lost or hopeless or distressed. The Lord is our strenth and our hope in times like this and His word is a comfort. For this challenge, create a card, layout, or altered item with storms in mind. Here are some examples for your creations: weather (thunderstorms or snowstorms), what comes after a rain storm (rainbows or flowers perhaps?), create something for a friend or loved one who may be going through one of those life storms (a comforting verse or scene), or choose a verse for your project which speaks of weather....perhaps Jesus calming the stormy sea? Our challenges at Christian Paper Crafts are meant to be "stretched", to give more paper-crafters the chance to play along! We can't wait to see your take on the challenge!!

For my sample, I used the "Fish Background" stamp and "Scripture Collection 4", along with Basic Grey "Oliver" designer paper. The twill is from May Arts, the twine I got from a flea market for a buck, and the charm is from Michael's but not sure which brand.

Along with the Bible Verse Thursday Challenge, I have also used the following challenges in the making of this card:

Mary's Color Monday Challenge at Christian Paper Crafts;
Our Daily Bread designs
Shining The Light Challenge: H.E.A.R.T. recipe challenge: I used Hemp (twine), A (any ODBD stamps), and R (ribbon);
All Sorts: Sentiment Focal.

Thanks so much for stopping by today! God Bless!!

Christian Paper Crafts, by membership, is now a private site, with a safe environment for more personal conversations and prayer requests....plus it keeps the spammers out....that's always a good thing, huh? For more information on the different levels of membership and their benefits, please click on this link. (By the way, if you would like to join the Bible Study or read the Devotionals column, this is open to the public.) Hope to see you there!

Thanks so much for stopping by today! God Bless!!
