Delphinium Blue Butterfly

Hi, everyone!  This week's Featured Stamper over at Splitcoast is Sharon Madson aka smadson.....congrats, Sharon!!  I chose this beautiful card to case today because of the gorgeous embossed background, butterfly, and striking colors.  I used the following items from Divinity Designs to create my card: 'Happy' Stamp/Die Duos, Fancy Fritillary Dies, Flourishes Embossing Folder, Scalloped Ovals Dies, Ovals Dies, and the Pierced Rectangles Dies.  For the embossed background, I used shimmery white cardstock; I changed the color a bit for the die cuts and card base and flipped the butterfly and oval panel to the opposite sides.  This week's Clean and Simple Challenge is to use your birth-flower for inspiration.....July's flowers are larkspur or delphinium, so I found some purple/blue cardstock to use for my card. Instead of pearls, I used clear gemstones for embellishments.

Hey, Chick!

Country Door Stylish Hen Pillow
Hi, everyone!  This week's Inspiration Challenge site over at Splitcoast is Country Door....I thought that this pillow was so cute and tried to recreate the look with the Stampin Up set, 'Hey, Chick', and some designer paper which I found at Goodwill many years ago.  The chicken image was stamped directly onto the designer paper, then fussy cut and popped up with foam tape over the black panel which was cut out with the Divinity Designs Pierced Squares Dies set.  The sentiment was stamped onto an ivory piece from the same designer paper pack, then cut out with the DD Treat Tags Dies set, using the Die Re-sizing Technique so that the die cut fit the sentiment size perfectly.  The striped panel was cut with the DD Pierced Rectangles Dies set; baker's twine was added as a simple embellishment.  I will save this in my birthday stash, either for one of my nieces or maybe my sister-in-law.

March Color Combo Design Team Challenge

Divinity Designs Color Combo Design Team Challenge March

Hi, everyone! Kelley gave the team a fabulous color challenge this month....green, turquoise, and yellow.  Click HERE to see the rest of the team samples.  Since Kelley and Rick lost their beloved Murphy a couple of weeks ago, I am using the 'Birthday Murphy' image as tribute.  The image was stamped onto a white panel, colored with markers, and the balloons were paper-pieced with polka dot papers from the Birthday Brights Paper Collection. The following dies from Divinity Designs were also used: Inspiration Word Dies, Cloud Borders Dies, Pierced Rectangles Dies and Clouds and Raindrops Dies (sponged clouds).  A white gel pen highlighted the balloons and I used a strip of yellow baker's twine for a simple embellishment.

Into The Forest

Hi, everyone!  This week's Featured Stamper over at Splitcoast is Liz aka LizBeth1976...congrats, Liz!  I chose this awesome card to case today since I am obsessed with alcohol inks right now!  I chose an already inked panel from my trial and error stash, stamped the image from 'Seek Me', die cut with the DD Custom Rounded Rectangles Dies on one edge, then matted the panel with black. Instead of the speckled background, the same stamp was inked with Crumb Cake and stamped onto the top of the card base.  The edges of the card base were sponged for dimension.  Three metallic dots were used instead of pearls.

Lake Scene Pet Sympathy

Hi, everyone!  My card today will be sent to a dear friend and her family who lost their beloved fur-baby last week.  He loved to go swimming in a nearby lake and did so right up until he passed, so I chose the 'With Deepest Sympathy' set as a tribute to him.  The scene was stamped onto watercolor paper with Stazon Jet Black, then both water-colored and colored with markers.  The heart and sentiment on the side are from the 'Dog Sympathy' set. (Both stamp sets are from Divinity Designs, formerly Our Daily Bread designs.)  The 'Faux Wood' Technique was used on the card base: a blue ink pad was swiped in downward lines onto the card base and I used the pad to ink up the edges of the card for extra dimension. The scene was cut out with the Double Stitched Squares Dies.

Give Us This Day

Hi, everyone!  This week's Featured Stamper over at Splitcoast is Sunny Qi aka Sunnylovespaper....congrats, Sunny!!!  What a fabulous gallery...I loved every card, but decided on this beautiful CAS design since I have been short on time this week.  Instead of the stamped background, I decided to get a watercolor look by coloring on an acrylic block with four different markers, spritzing, and applying it to a white panel.  The stamps I used are from the 'Wheat' set by Divinity Designs and the panel was cut with the Pierced Rectangles Dies. Instead of using ribbon, I used baker's twine which matched the chocolate brown card base.

Alcohol Ink Eclipse Birthday

Hi, everyone!  Today I would like to share another eclipse card (yes, I'm obsessed with both the eclipse technique AND my alcohol inks!!)  I began by spritzing rubbing alcohol over a Yupo paper panel, then adding alcohol inks here and there, some drops and some lines.  Since the alcohol was spritzed first, it made the alcohol inks more fluid and I blew them around a bit.  Once the inks were dry, the panel was cut out with the Divinity Designs Custom Pierced Rectangles Dies; one of the dies from the 'Birthday' Stamp/Die Duos set was cut out of the inked panel, then four more times with indigo cardstock.  The Yupo panel was adhered to a indigo panel. One of the turquoise 'birthday' die cuts was glued into the cut out, then the alcohol ink extra cut out pieces (loops inside the letters) were inserted into the indigo word.  The other indigo die cut 'birthdays' were layered with the alcohol ink 'birthday' on the top.  To make it a true 'eclipse', the tiny pieces from your top piece are to be glued down into the bottom layer to show dimension.  The sentiment panel was cut from the 'Treat Tags Dies' set, using the Die Re-sizing Technique to customize the size of the tag....see a tutorial here.  Three hot pink pearls were added after everything was matted and put together.

Happy Birthday Roses

Hi, everyone!  This week's Featured Stamper over at Splitcoast is Olga Jewell aka memorykeeper....congrats, Olga!  Wow, what a fabulous gallery!  Most of her gorgeous cards would take me several days to recreate....her gallery is flower heaven!!  I chose this beautiful card to case because I loved the curved corners and clean layout with the corner flowers.  Once I cut my card base with the Divinity Designs Custom Rounded Rectangles Dies, I saw this piece of designer paper (from the Romantic Roses Paper Collection) with the pretty roses in the corner and decided to use it instead of stamping the flowers.  The designer paper was cut with the Double Stitched Rounded Rectangles Dies, then sponged on the edges.  For the sentiment, I used the 'Happy' Stamp/Die Duos set, along with the Double Stitched Rectangles Dies.  Chocolate pearls were added on two corners to coordinate with the chocolate sentiment and sponging.

Oil Pastels - Rainbow

Reeves Oil Pastels
Hi, everyone!  This week's Inspiration Challenge over at Splitcoast is to find inspiration from the V and A Museum site......when I saw this set of oil pastels, it reminded me that I have only used my set just once.  The rainbow colors inspired me to use this stamp from the 'Sentiments Collection 2' (from Divinity Designs).  I remembered that the Mixability Challenge theme yesterday was 'draw a line', so I masked a straight line with scratch paper, scribbled small lines of colors with the oil pastels, then blended them with my finger.  The panel was cut out with the DD Custom Double Stitched Rectangles Dies.  Two blue gems were added for a simple embellishment.

First up is a card which features the 'Birthday' Stamp/Die Duos set and the DD Custom Pierced Rectangles Dies.  I began by adding drops and lines of various alcohol inks and rose gold mixtative onto a piece of Yupo paper.  The colors were blended slightly with a paintbrush dipped in rubbing alcohol.  Once everything was nice and dry, the Birthday die was cut from the Yupo paper so that I could do the eclipse technique.  (Tip: if you do the eclipse technique, be careful not to lose any of the tiny pieces inside of the letter loops since these pieces will be glued back into the bottom layer of cardstock.) The die was used three additional times with turquoise cardstock; all of the die-cuts were layered with the alcohol ink layer on top.  The small sentiment stamps from the set were heat embossed with pewter embossing powder to coordinate with the metallics in the alcohol ink panel. Two brass brads were added to coordinate with the copper mats.

Next up is a gift set created with the Test Tube Treats Dies, Test Tubes - Small, Test Tube Treat Stamps, Treat Tag Sentiments 3, Flower Burst Mixed Media Stencil, Scalloped Circles Dies, Circles Dies, Scalloped Squares Dies, Squares Dies, and the Spring Flower Paper Collection 2019.  The treat holder was super fast and easy to make....cutting, embossing, and assembling the cardstock base and designer paper layers took about ten minutes! It was easy peasy!  The adorable little daffodil image from the treat stamps set was stamped twice, cut out with a small circle die, then matted with a scalloped circle.  Sentiments for both the card and treat holder are from the Treat Tag Sentiments 3 set, cut out with the Test Tube Treats Dies set.  The tags can also be purchased separately in the Treat Tags Dies, but I love that the Test Tube Treats Dies already includes them! For the card, the base was cut out with the new Scalloped Squares Dies, matted with a panel cut with the Squares Dies.  Yellow and peach was sponged over the Flower Burst Mixed Media Stencil, while the panel was still inside the die; tiny green pearls were added to the image panels and to the centers of the sponged flower bursts.

This cute set was created with the same "ingredients" as the daffodil set, minus the designer paper.  I began by stamping half of a page of peeps on white cardstock using a ruler for spacing (every 5/8" the peep was centered).  I then used the Wrinkle Free Distress Technique: yellow, pink, and lavender ink pads (plain ole dye ink) was swiped onto a craft mat, spritzed with water, then the peeps cardstock mopped up the ink. When the cardstock was dry, the treat holder layers were cut out.  For the decorative piece on the front of the treat holder, I used the purple cut-out which was leftover from cutting the treat holder base, stenciled one of the flower bursts in lavender, fussy cut one of the yellow peeps from the WFD panel, then layered it onto a Scalloped Circle die cut. Since I had quite a few colored peeps left on the sheet, I fussy cut five of them, with different color variations and popped them up over a panel which was cut out with the Double Stitched Squares Dies, then dry embossed with the Flower Burst Mixed Media Stencil. Yep, you can dry emboss with the stencils.....yay!!  The peeps are sitting on a strip cut with the Bitty Borders Dies.  The lavender mat was stenciled (Flower Burst) with Versamark, then clear embossed and cut out with the Scalloped Squares Dies.

Below is the 'More is More' version of the peeps card, using the popped up Wrinkle Free Distress peeps and a 'Less is More' version on which the peeps were stamped directly onto the lightly stenciled panel then sponged (using reverse masking). The second version was super quick since there were less steps involved. Feel free to click on each photo for a larger view.
