Child of God

Hi, everyone!  This week's Featured Stamper over at Splitcoast is Betty aka gabbygal....congrats, Betty!!!  It took a long while to decide on just one card from her gallery and finally chose this gorgeous sympathy card and changed it to a birthday card.  For my card, I used the following items from Divinity Designs LLC: 'I Believe' stamp set, a pattern from the Watercolor Paper Pad, and these dies: A2 Landscape Card Base with Layer Dies, Matting Rectangle, Leafy Edged Borders Dies, Fancy Fritillary Dies, and Clouds and Raindrops Dies (tiny hearts).  The butterfly and hearts were embellished with a clear glaze pen.

Hugs for Mom

Hi, everyone!  This week's Inspiration Challenge over at Splitcoast is to find inspiration from the super fun Joy of Socks website.  My Mom loves California Poppies and for her birthday card I wanted to include one.  Using the Poppy Stamp/Die Duo from Divinity Designs LLC, I stamped, cut out, and watercolored the poppy......a week ago!  I have been staring at it all week trying to figure out what type of card to build around it.  This gorgeous sock, with the delish colors, was the inspiration I needed!  A white panel, cut out with the Matting Rectangles Die, was sponged with Blackberry Bliss, Melon Mambo, and Tangerine Tango.  The Floral Background Die was cut out of white cardstock and adhered to the inked mat, everywhere except for the large flower petals.  For a simple sentiment (and because I can't hug her in person right now), I used 'Hugs' (three layers) from the Inspiration Words Dies set.  Blackberry Bliss ribbon and a bow tied with a Bow Easy were the last touches before adhering the panel to the card which was cut out with the A2Portrait Card Base with Layers Dies set.

Happy Anniversary to Divinity Designs LLC!!!

Hi, everyone!  Today marks the 12th anniversary for Divinity Designs LLC (formerly known as Our Daily Bread designs)!  I joined the design team just seven months after the company was started and I can't believe how time has flown!  It's been exciting to see how just a few stamps sets has turned into a full line of stamps, dies, stencils, embossing folders, and paper collections!!!  It has been a blessing to be a part of this family for so many years.  Now, on to the celebration!!!  To see all of the beautiful stamps, dies, and new paper collection, plus some awesome designer samples, please click HERE.  If you follow us on social media, there may be some free goodies in your future!

For my two card samples today, here are the products featured:

For my first card, I tried a new-to-me stained glass technique to show off the awesome new Floral Background Die and one of the sentiments from "I Believe".  It's not a difficult technique, but it takes several layers of cardstock.  First, I cut two white cardstock panels and adhered them together using my Xyron Sticker Maker.  I used the Floral Background Die to emboss only on this double panel so that I could see where to color.  All of the colored sections you see were water-colored; once dry, a panel was die cut with the Floral Background Die and adhered to frame the colors.  Then, Glossy Accents were used to coat all of the colored area (make sure the glaze touches the framing for a more complete look.)  Another frame was die cut and adhered to give more dimension.  You could add even more layers but I felt that it was good as is.  Since I didn't want to cover up the background, the sentiment from "I Believe" was stamped onto vellum and cut out with the Pierced Circles Dies and glued just inside the border of the circle.  The stained glass frame was adhered to a turquoise panel which was cut out with the Matting Rectangle Die, then adhered to the card which was cut out with the A2 Portrait Card Base with Layer Die.

My next card features another sentiment from "I Believe", a gorgeous pattern from the Watercolor Paper Pad, along with the following items which were previously released: Center Step A2 with Layers Dies, Inspiration Words Dies ("Believe"), Alphabet Flags Dies (the letter "I"), Ornamental Crosses Dies, Bitty Borders Dies, and Double Stitched Rectangles Dies.  The sentiment was gold-embossed onto vellum, cut out with the Double Stitched Rectangles Dies, then turned into a sticker with a Xyron.  The additional die cuts were cut twice (violet and metallic gold) and layered for added dimension.

Two Quick Rustic Birthday Cards

Hi, everyone!  This week's Featured Stamper over at Splitcoast is Pauline aka meisu4....congrats, Pauline!  I was looking for inspiration to help me make some masculine cards and this awesome card did the trick!  I grabbed the 'Seek Me' set by Divinity Designs LLC, along with the 'Wood Background' and created two quick birthday cards.  I began by stamping the Wood Background with Crumb Cake ink onto Crumb Cake card bases, then stamped the trees with Mossy Meadow ink.  On the portrait card, I used a scripture verse from the set, cut with the 'Large Banners Dies'; on the landscape card, I used a scripture from the 'Dad' stamp set (retired).  Both cards were sponged on the edges to give a bit more dimension.

Seaside Thoughts of You

Hi, everyone! This week's Featured Stamper over at Splitcoast is Faith aka PeonySnail....congrats, Faith!!!  It was tough to choose just one card to case, but I finally decided on this gorgeous card.  For my card, the white panel was cut with a rectangle die, stamped the seagulls (from SU 'By The Bay'), used a clear glaze pen as a resist on the gulls and sand lines, used a reverse mask to sponge the colors in the circle, then used the circle die to emboss around the scene. The panel was matted with aqua and adhered onto a white card base. Three enamel dots were added for a simple embellishment.

Celebrate Life

Hi, everyone!  This week's Featured Stamper over at Splitcoast is Maura Hibbitts aka onecraftstamper....congrats, Maura!  Maura's gallery is chock full of cool techniques, mixed media, and my fave.....alcohol inks!!!  I chose this card to case today because of the AI background and cute sentiment banners.  The AI panel used for my card was actually created over a year ago while I was at my BFF's house, showing her how to use alcohol inks and lift ink.  The stamps I used for the lift are from Stampin Up but I do not know the name of the set.  I still had the 'So Many Sayings' set on my desk from yesterday's card, so I used it to create the three banners.

You Make Me Happy

Hi, everyone! This week's Inspiration Challenge over at Splitcoast is to find inspiration the Inspiring Tables Pinterest board.....I am always a sucker for royal blue, so I chose this awesome table setting.  I used two of my neglected Stampin Up sets, Bitty Buds and So Many Sayings, along with the Blossom 3 SB Dies. I haven't made a shaped card in a while so this was fun. To help keep the outer flowers somewhat lined up, I traced a circle die with a blue marker and then began stamping.  I did not use a stamp positioner....I just "went for it"...it's not perfectly symmetrical but I can live with it this time!  The sentiment was stamped in blue and punched out with the Word Window punch.  A tiny gingham bow, tied with a Bow Easy, was the finishing touch.  This will go into my birthday stash.

The Right Direction

Hi, everyone!  Happy Friday!!  Today's Friday Free4All Challenge over at Splitcoast is 'Put A Bird On It'....I needed a quick masculine card to put in the mail, so I grabbed the 'Home' set by Artistic Outpost, plus designer paper from the Weathered Wood Collection and Double Stitched Rectangles Dies from Divinity Designs LLC.  This was a very simple and quick card.....stamping, tearing, and lots of sponging on the edges, and a bit of linen thread and off it went into the mailbox.

Birthday Bear Hugs

Hi, everyone!  This week's Featured Stamper over at Splitcoast is Shelly aka mcschmidty...congrats, Shelly!  I chose this super cute card to case today....the cowboy's pose with his arms outstretched  reminded me of my favorite 'bratty bear' stamp, plus I LOVE the Faux Wood technique.  For my card, I used the 'Under the Stars' set from Stampin Up, along with some letter stamps by EK Success which I bought at JoAnn's more than a decade ago.  The bear was stamped and watercolored, then the panel was cut out with the Double Stitched Squares Dies from Divinity Designs LLC.  A craft knife was used to cut slits so that the linen thread could wrap around his paws.  The card base was swiped with a matching ink pad, creating a 'Faux Wood' background. Silver mini brads were added to the corners.

Happiness Is Knowing You

Hi, everyone!  This week's Featured Stamper over at Splitcoast is Brent aka brentsCards....congrats, Brent!!  I chose this beautiful card to case today because of the watercolor background, beautiful butterfly, and delish colors....how could I resist?  The stamp set I am using is a old favorite from my retired Stampin Up sets, 'Winged Things'.  I created a Wrinkle Free Distress panel with similar colors, white embossed the butterfly and sentiment, then cut out the panel with a rectangle die.  To coordinate with the tiny dots around the image, I used a white gel pen to add more dots to the background.  Baker's twine and white sequins were added at the last.  This will go into my birthday card stash for later.

Divinity Designs LLC February New Release!

Hi, everyone!  Where did January go?!  Welcome to February and welcome to another new release from Divinity Designs LLC!!!  The goods just keep on coming!!  This month's release is SWEET.....check out the entire release and lots of gorgeous project samples HERE....enjoy!!

Here are the items I have used to create my two project samples for today:

My first card was super fun to make!!  I wanted to use bright, cheerful colors, so after the tangerine card base was cut out with the A2 Portrait Card Base with Layer Dies, I created a Wrinkle Free Distress (or Smoosh) panel with tangerine, mustard, and kraft inks on smooth white cardstock.  Once the inked panel was dry, the frame, which was cut with the Quilted Honeycomb Background Die, was adhered over it.  The images from the 'Bee-lieve' Stamp/Die Duos set were stamped in Stazon Jet Black, water-colored, and popped up with foam tape.  The center of the bee hive was cut out with one of the button dies from the Sewing Set Dies so that it could become a shaker card with honey-colored micro beads inside.  The tiny flowers were cut with the Ornamental Crosses Dies set.  The sentiment was stamped on a panel cut with the Double Stitched Rectangles Dies.  The same die was used to cut the offset mat behind it.

For my next card, the 'Bee-lieve' Stamp/Die Duos set, Quilted Honeycomb Background Die, and Double Stitched Rectangles Dies were used again, along with the A2 Landscape Card Base with Layer Dies and the Matting Rectangle Die.  What I LOVE about the Quilted Honeycomb Background Die is that both the frame and cut-outs are stitched, so that you have twice as many design ideas!!  I created another Wrinkle Free Distress panel, this time with mustard and kraft inks; once dry, the panel was cut with the Quilted Honeycomb Background Die and embossed. (The edges of the honeycomb cut-outs are defined in person, but the camera did not agree!)  Since I used only the cut-outs for this card, I will save the frame and extra pieces for later.  Tip: for each background die with frames and cut-outs such as this, I keep all of the extra parts and pieces in envelopes for later projects.

I (Heart) You

Hi, everyone!  This week's Featured Stamper over at Splitcoast is Angela Bode aka ohmypaper!.....congrats, Angie!!!  After cruising every page of her immense gallery, I finally settled on this adorable CAS card.  Not only do I love the clean layout, but the offset ovals were very interesting to me and I loved the added hearts, especially for a sentiment.  For my card, I am using the 'Somebunny' Stamp/Die Duos set from Divinity Designs LLC.  I will tuck this card away for a few months and give it to my hubs for our anniversary.  Also used for this card were the Layering Hearts Dies, Sentiment Strips Dies, Clouds and Raindrops Dies (tiny hearts), and Ovals Dies.  The adorable bunny image was stamped in Stazon Jet Black, then water-colored. The background scene was sponged over die cut templates cut with the Clouds and Raindrops Dies and Grass Lawn Die.

Butterfly Trio

Ferris Wheels and Carousels Butterfly Dish
Hi, everyone!  This week's Inspiration Challenge over at Splitcoast is to find inspiration from Ferris Wheels and Carousels.  I fell in love with this butterfly dish and decided to make a clean and simple card with it in mind.  Unfortunately, the butterfly stamps and matching dies I used are now retired from Divinity Designs LLC, but I still love to use them for my personal birthday list.  The butterflies were heat embossed with black and cut out; the outside edges and any sections which were to stay white were coated with a clear glaze pen. On the large butterfly, the yellow sections were colored with a marker, then coated with the clear glaze pen as well.  The reason for using the glaze pen is so that it acts as a resist since I wanted to sponge various colors on the butterflies for a smooth and gradient look.  Once the sponging was finished, I used a dry rag to buff the ink from the glazed areas.  The sentiment is from the 'Today and Everyday' stamp set which is still available from Divinity Designs LLC.  I liked the clean look so I didn't add any splatters or stenciling.

EDITED TO ADD: The retired butterfly stamp set is called 'Trois Jolies Papillons' and the custom dies are 'Tres Papillons Dies'.
