Have a Purrr-fect Day!

Hi, everyone!  I have used this week's Sketch Challenge over at Splitcoast to help in creating a birthday card for my great niece, Kynna, who will be two this week.  The challenge police may come after me since the main panel does not go all of the way across.  For my card, the kitty from 'The Cat's Meow' was stamped on white with Stazon Jet Black; the eyes, ears, and nose were colored with markers then coated with a clear glaze pen.  The fur was then colored with a sponge dauber and ink; I do not have the custom die for this set, so I had to fussy cut it.  The bow was stamped separately, fussy cut, then paper-pieced onto the kitty.  The following custom dies from ODBD were also used: Birthday Balloons, Numbers, Fence, Grass Hill, Double Stitched Pennant Flags, Double Stitched Rectangles, Clouds and Raindrops (cloud stencil). Pink baker's twine was used to 'tie' the balloons to the fence.

Jesus and Coffee

Hi, everyone!  Looking at the gorgeous colors and patterns in the 'Latte Love' Paper Collection from Our Daily Bread designs, I just had to make a quilt pattern!  I used the ODBD Custom Log Cabin Quilt Die with vanilla cardstock (for the frame) first.  I cut out another piece of cardstock which is the same size of the quilt frame, ran it through my Xyron sticker maker, then adhered the vanilla quilt frame to it.  Once I cut out the pattern and orange quilt pieces, I popped them into the frame and pressed them onto the sticker layer.  This is the easiest and quickest way I have found to adhere the quilt pieces together.  The coffee cups from 'Hug in a Mug' Stamp/Die Duos were stamped twice onto vanilla cardstock plus two shades from the 'Latte Love' Paper Collection.  The sentiment was split between the two cups using masking.  Once the cups were paper-pieced together onto the custom die, they were popped up with foam tape over the vanilla seam binding.  The bow was tied using a Bow Easy.  I will be submitting this card to the Spring and Summer Coffee Lovers Blog Hop, which is open until June 1st.

Dream In Color

Hi, everyone!  This week's Color Challenge 689 over at Splitcoast is to use Tempting Turquoise, Daffodil Delight, Crushed Cucumber, Berry Burst with bonus points for adding flowers.  For my card, I chose to color a design from the ODBD 'God's Beauty Coloring Pages' collection.  The turquoise background was water-colored and the images were colored with markers (please don't look too close...there are a lot of oopsies!)  The triple-layered die cut word was cut out with the ODBD Custom Inspiration Words Dies; the coloring page and white mat were cut out with the ODBD Custom Pierced Rectangles Dies. (Note: the coloring pages and word dies will be available June 1st.)

Sunflower Bookmark Pocket Card

Hi, everyone!  Today I would like to share a pocket card and bookmarks created for my Mother-In-Law.  I started by cutting and scoring an A2 card; an A2 panel was cut from a sunflower/gingham design from the ODBD 'Follow the Son' Paper Collection; the designer paper was then cut with a curved die from the ODBD Custom Leafy Edged Borders Dies set. The edges were sponged then adhesive was used on the bottom and two sides only, leaving the curved side open. The front of the card was then decorated with the 'Be a Sunflower' set, coordinating ODBD Custom Sunflower Die, ODBD Custom Fence Die, and ODBD Custom Pierced Ovals Dies

Since my MIL (mother-in-law) stated that she needed some bookmarks for her Bible, I created two to fit in the pocket, using the ODBD Custom Bookmarks Dies and the same papers and stamps as the card. The sunflowers were colored with markers, then burnished with sponges for a deeper color.

Hello, Friend

Hi, everyone!  This week's Featured Stamper over at Splitcoast is Sylvia aka Zylvia....congrats, Sylvia!!  I fell in love with this trio of cards and chose to recreate the butterfly card but with purple tones instead of gray.  I started with plum cardstock, cut out with the ODBD Custom Pierced Squares Dies, then sponged eggplant ink to give it a darker, textured appearance.  The sentiment and flower stamps are from the 'Hello, Friend' Stamp/Die Duos set.  The butterfly was cut out with the ODBD Custom Fancy Fritillary Dies set in gold and eggplant; the eggplant butterfly was highlight with a gold marker (the camera caused the gold shades to look different but they look good in the real.)

CAS Deer Silhouette Birthday

Hi, everyone!  With thoughts of cookouts for Memorial Day, this week's Friday Free4All Challenge theme is ketchup and mustard (use red and yellow on your cards!)  I needed a quick birthday card to mail out today, so I chose the North Coast Creations 'Deer Silhouette Greetings' set.  I cut a mask from scratch paper using the ODBD Custom Rectangles Dies set, then sponged Barely Banana, Real Red, and a little Elegant Eggplant in the corner.  This card took about ten minutes to make...cha ching!! :)

Grand Cayman Turtle Farm

Hi,everyone!  When the new 'Turtle Love' Stamp/Die Duo set was released by Our Daily Bread designs, I had to dig out the photos from our first cruise vacation from 2003 and create a scrapbook layout.  One of our ports of call was Grand Cayman, where we visited a sea turtle farm and I got to hold one!!!  By the way, fifteen years ago, fanny packs were still in style! LOL!!  I had to go with an 8 x 8 layout to fit everything in.  The designer paper I wanted to use from the 'By The Shore' Paper Collection is only 6 x 6, so I cut two corner pieces to make a frame.  The turtles were stamped in Stazon Jet Black, cut out with the custom dies, then watercolored to coordinate with the photos and designer paper.  The following ODBD Custom dies were also used: Alphabet, Numbers, Stitched Ovals, and Double Stitched Rectangles. (Click on the photo for a larger view.)

I Love You A Latte!

Hi, everyone!  This week's Featured Stamper over at Splitcoast is Wanda aka Wendy2512....congrats, Wanda!!  Wanda's gallery is IMMENSE and it was tough to choose just one card from many years of beautiful creations....I kept coming back to this super cute card!  I started by cutting the large panel with the ODBD Custom Double Stitched Rectangles Dies from a striped pattern from the ODBD Fall Favorites Paper Collection and the small rectangle was cut with the ODBD Custom Pierced Rectangles Dies from the ODBD Latte Love Paper Collection.  The coffee cups and sentiment are from the 'Hug in a Mug' Stamp/Die Duos set. The same striped pattern was used to paper piece the right cup and small heart was cut with the ODBD Custom Layering Hearts Dies set.  I added a 2nd sentiment below on a panel cut out with the ODBD Custom Double Stitched Pennant Flags Dies.  Instead of enamel dots, I used five eyelets which have been in my stash for about 15 years!  This card will go to a co-worker who is taking a leave of absence in order to care for her ailing parents.

First up is a card I made for my hubby with the 'Turtle Love' Stamp/Die Duos set for our 26th anniversary this week.  Instead of coloring the turtle, I chose a monochromatic look which matched the chevron pattern from the 'By The Shore' Paper Collection.  Linen thread and the tiny hearts cut from the ODBD Custom Umbrellas Dies set were used for simple embellishments.  ODBD Custom Rectangles Dies and ODBD Custom Circles Dies were also used in this design.

Happy Mother's Day!

Hi, everyone!  Happy Mother's Day to all you Moms out there!!!  Today I would like to share two different Mother's Day cards created with the same set from Our Daily Bread designs, 'The Greatest Gift' Stamp/Die Duo.  For the first card I am using the Splitcoast April Fan Club sketch with a 'Perfect Blend' of purple and yellow to match the floral designer paper from the Whimsical Wildflowers Paper Collection. The designer paper was shaped with the ODBD Custom Leafy Edged Borders Dies and ODBD Custom Pierced Rectangles Dies.  The butterflies were stamped on white with Stazon Jet black, cut out with the custom dies, then sponged with yellow and purple using a reverse mask.

The second version uses the same stamps, designer paper and border die, but the sentiment was stamped onto a panel cut out with the ODBD Custom Pierced Circles Dies set.  Baker's twine and sequins were used as a contrast to the lavender card base.

As You Graduate

Hi, everyone!   This week's Featured Stamper over at Splitcoast is Connie aka Conniecrafter.....congrats, Connie!!  I became a huge fan of Connie's work many years ago while scouting for cards to feature on the ODBD Blog for Customer Card of the Day.  I searched this morning for an ODBD creation to case from Connie's gallery and found this beautiful card.  Though I was unable to stamp yesterday, I did pick out this butterfly artwork from Grandinroad for the Inspiration Challenge, so I am combining both challenges together....the layout from Connie's card and the colors of the butterfly piece.  This will be a graduation card for my niece, Chloe, for next weekend.  For my card, I have used the 'As You Graduate' set by ODBD and the tiny butterfly from 'Butterfly and Bugs' which was stamped in Versamark onto the card base. The image was stamped in Stazon Jet Black; the butterflies and sky were sponged in yellow; a clear glaze pen was used to create a resist effect for the butterflies, then turquoise was sponged over the rest of the image.  Since the ombre/gradient technique was used on my image panel, I will also be submitting this to the Fan Club Central Theme Challenge for April.
