Flowers for Mom

Hi, everyone!  This week's Color Challenge over at Splitcoast is one of my mom's favorite color combinations!  I did not go with the dessert option of 'sunflowers'.  The floral and 'Mom' dies are from Papertrey Ink; the Blending Brushes and Matting Rectangle Die are from Divinity Designs LLC.

Grateful To Call You Mom

Hi, everyone! This week's Color Challenge over at Splitcoast is to use Real Red, Lemon Lolly, Pool Party, and Old Olive. I don't have Lemon Lolly yet, so I used Daffodil Delight. This card was created for my Step-Mom. I used some stamps and dies from Papertrey Ink which I picked up earlier this year. All of the flowers and leaves were die cut from white cardstock and colored with sponges or blending brushes....needless to say my hands were super inky!  Multiple flowers were cut out so I will ink up more flowers in different colors and share them with you! The background panel was cut out with the Matting Rectangle Die by Divinity Designs LLC; the Blending Brushes are also from DD.

Two Challenge Cards

Happy Friday, everyone!  I have two challenge cards to share today.  The Mixability Challenge over at Splitcoast is A Taste of Fall.  For my card, I chose a leafy pattern from the 'Follow the Son' Paper Pad from Divinity Designs LLC.  The rooster from 'Rise and Shine' was stamped in the center with Cajun Craze dye ink, then the sentiment was over-stamped with Stazon Timber Brown.  After coloring the feet and beak with a marker, a clear glaze pen was used to highlight them. Other items used for this card are as follows: Linen Thread, foam tape, sequins, and the following dies from Divinity Designs LLC: Basket Weave Square Background, Squares, Square Card Base with Layer, Double Stitched Circles, Bitty Blossoms.

My second card is for the Friday Free4All Challenge, 'Go To the Corner'. This is a card I made for a co-worker to give to his mother-in-law. All of the products used are from Divinity Designs LLC.  The flowers are from the Beautiful Blossoms 4 Paper/Die Duos set, the floral paper is from the Beautiful Blossoms Set 4 and 5 Coordinating Paper Pad. These are the dies used: Lattice Background, Pierced Ovals, Ovals, Family Names, Matting Rectangle, and A2 Portrait Card Base with Layer.  The satin ribbon was tied with a Bow Easy and foam tape was used to pop up the layers.

Beach-y Blessings

Hi, everyone!  This week's Ways To Use It Challenge over at Splitcoast is 'To The Beach'.  Today I am sharing three Mother's Day cards from last year which I did not get around to posting anywhere.  Each of the three use the same products from Divinity Designs LLC: Sunset Skies Slimline Paper Pad, Long and Lean Letters Dies, Bold Blessings Stamp/Die Duos, A2 Thin Pierced Frame Die, A2 Portrait Card Base with Layer Dies, Foam Mounting Tape. The letters were cut from the designer paper, layered onto cardstock, then popped up with foam tape.  This is a type of eclipse technique but with only two layers.

Happy Mother's Day

Hi, everyone!  This week's Ways to Use It Challenge over at Splitcoast is to create a one layer card.  The challenge police may come after me since I already made this card, but had not posted it yet.  I used the 'Pressed Flowers' and sentiment from (unknown name), both from Stampin Up.  For the flowers, I used markers direct-to-stamp, starting with Daffodil Delight in the center, Lovely Lilac on the leaves, Brilliant Blue to highlight the petals, then Old Olive for the greenery.  It took a little bit to do this multiple times, but I love how it turned out and I ended up with NO smudges.....a miracle! :)

Mother's Day Hibiscus

Hi, everyone! It's been a few years, but I am proud to be part of the Sketch Challenge team over at SplitcoastStampers again!!  This week's sketch is number 800....wow!!  If you are a member at Splitcoast and submit a card for the challenge, you could win some cards and other goodies from the Sketch Team, including my card shown here!

When I saw this week's sketch, I knew I wanted to use the Delicate Doily Die and 'Great Faith' Stamp/Die Duo set from Divinity Designs.  After visiting Hawaii twice back in the 90's, tropical flowers just melt me into a big puddle and I'm so in love with this stamp set!! The hibiscus flowers were stamped with Stazon Jet Black, water-colored with several colors of orange and pink, then highlighted with markers. I used a circle die to cut out the center of the doilies.  The 'Mother' sentiment was cut out three times with the 'Family Names 1' Dies set; the background was embossed with the Flourishes Embossing Folder and cut out with the Pierced Rectangles Dies set.

Two More Peony Aprons for Mother's Day

Hi, everyone!  This week's Inspiration Challenge over at Splitcoast is to find inspiration from Great Big Canvas.  I chose this awesome photo for inspiration.  Last month I made this apron card out of some goodies from Divinity Designs, so I needed to make two more for Mother's Day.  I had already stamped the peonies from 'Daughter's Best Friend' and cut two more panels out with the Apron and Tools Dies set, but couldn't decide on the colors.  Today's Inspiration Challenge helped me to figure that out....just in time since Mother's Day is tomorrow!  After the background was watercolored and the flowers were colored with both markers and watercoloring, the panel was embossed with the Cross Stitch Embossing Folder.  I found some cute little flower eyelets in my stash plus matching grosgrain ribbon.  The ribbons were adhered to the inside of the card base, then an extra apron panel was cut and adhered over the ribbon ends to seal them in.

My second card was inspired by the colors in this photo.....two shades of purple plus yellow centers....yummy!!!  The card was created the same as the first, except I used the cooking tools instead of the gardening tools.

Happy Mother's Day!

Hi, everyone!  Happy Mother's Day to all you Moms out there!!!  Today I would like to share two different Mother's Day cards created with the same set from Our Daily Bread designs, 'The Greatest Gift' Stamp/Die Duo.  For the first card I am using the Splitcoast April Fan Club sketch with a 'Perfect Blend' of purple and yellow to match the floral designer paper from the Whimsical Wildflowers Paper Collection. The designer paper was shaped with the ODBD Custom Leafy Edged Borders Dies and ODBD Custom Pierced Rectangles Dies.  The butterflies were stamped on white with Stazon Jet black, cut out with the custom dies, then sponged with yellow and purple using a reverse mask.

The second version uses the same stamps, designer paper and border die, but the sentiment was stamped onto a panel cut out with the ODBD Custom Pierced Circles Dies set.  Baker's twine and sequins were used as a contrast to the lavender card base.

Mother's Day Blessings

Hi, everyone!  This week's Friday Free4All Challenge over at Splitcoast is to make a normal card for you, but with less layers....a more simple version.  I went very CAS with my Mother's Day cards this year, but I really like how they turned out.  The kraft card base was stamped in Versamark with the Pussy-Willow Background; the buds were painted with Pearl Glimmer Mist.  I cut three strips of white cardstock, sponged kraft and aqua ink over them, then created the borders by cutting them with the ODBD Custom Flower Lattice Die (since the die cuts' edges are a bit delicate, I sponged the colors before cutting so I wouldn't bend the edges.) The die was adhered to aqua cardstock then the edges were trimmed with paper snips. The sentiment is from 'Mother's Day'.  (All stamps and die are from Our Daily Bread designs.) Three brown pearls were added for a simple embellishment.

Mother's Day Quilts

Hello, everyone!  Since most of my family does not visit my blog, I am fairly safe to post two different Mother's Day cards before next weekend!  These were both created with the ODBD Custom Star Quilt Die and a sentiment from 'Mother's Day'.  For the first card, I used ODBD Easter Card Collection 2016 Designer Paper along with wisteria cardstock, baker's twine, and buttons.

Here is another version using a different color scheme.  This designer paper from the ODBD Cozy Quilt Collection looked really good with coral cardstock and I love that I had matching buttons!

Mother's Day Flower Basket

Hi, everyone!  This week's Featured Stamper over at Splitcoast is Polly aka peeps321....congrats, Polly!!!  I chose this super cute card as inspiration to make this Mother's Day card.  The basket from 'Basket of Blessings' was stamped in black, colored with Creamy Caramel, then fussy cut and popped up with foam tape.  The various flowers were cut from both the ODBD Custom 'Birds and Nest' dies and the ODBD Custom 'Asters and Leaves' dies, sponged with Daffodil Delight, then highlighted with stickles.  The grass was cut with the ODBD Custom 'Grass Border' Die (the negative die cut was used inside the basket as filler material behind the flowers).  The bumble-bee from 'Butterfly and Bugs' was stamped, colored, cut out with the ODBD Custom 'Butterfly and Bugs' Dies, then the wings were colored with a glitter pen. Instead of water-coloring the background, I sponged some clouds over a scalloped circle.  The Daffodil seam binding bow was tied with a Bow Easy.

Art Journal Inspired / Roses for Mom

Happy Saturday, everyone!!  It's going to be a beautiful, cool day here in Indiana, so I'm stamping early so that I can spend some time outside later!  This week's Inspiration Challenge is to find inspiration from Audrie's Art of Journaling Pinterest Board.......I loved the elegance and lacy look of this journal, so I tried to re-create the same look with my card, using the "Smell the Roses" set by Our Daily Bread designs, a doily die cut, plus a book plate and some mulberry paper (both of which haven't seen the light of day for a long time!)

Mother's Day Morning Glories

Happy Saturday, everyone!!!  Today's Inspiration Challenge over at Splitcoast Stampers is to choose an item from Ralph Lauren's website as inspiration for your project.  I needed to make three Mother's Day cards and wanted to use the morning glories stamp from the Our Daily Bread designs set, "Glory", but needed help figuring out the design.  When I saw this satin blouse, it led me to the baby blue satin ribbon and the card was born!! The image on the sentiment panel is the "Flower Border" single (cut out with SB Labels 18 die), the sentiment and "Mom" stamp are from the "Mom" set, also from Our Daily Bread designs.  (I LOVE how the Flower Border goes so well with the "Glory" set!!!)  The flowers were colored with a light blue and a green marker, then highlighted with a Glitter pen for some sparkle.

Happy Mother's Day!

Hi, everyone!  Thanks to a bunch of fun challenges this weekend, I was able to create all three of my Mother's Day cards in one evening......one for Mom, my step-mom, and mother-in-law.  The Our Daily Bread designs Shining the Light Challenge is to use four out of five letters of S.P.R.I.N.G......S=sunflowers, P=paper piercing, R=replicated (it's a case, plus I made three), I = insects, N=nature, G= glitter pen.  This week's Queen For The Day at Splitcoast is Sandy aka Stampingwriter.....what a fun gallery....I chose this beautiful CAS card to re-create.  The Friday Free 4 All Challenge is all about Mother's Day.  I didn't have a clue what I was going to use for my Mother's Day cards until I saw the Inspiration Challenge at Splitcoast....choose an item from Wedding Decor....I chose this honey scented soap set as inspiration.

The little bee on the front is from the "Happy Mother' Day" set, but ODBD now has a matching "Stamped By" single stamp for the back of our cards.....love it!!!  This one is the "Bee Mini"The Mom sentiment on the ODBD Elegant Ovals panel is from the "Mom" set and if you look close, you can see the Honeycomb Background stamp on the yellow card.

Thanks so much for stopping by today!

Happy Mother's Day and God bless!

Happy Mother's Day - ODBD Shining the Light Challenge

Mother's Day is fast approaching.....do you have your cards ready? This is the last one I needed....whew! Mom, mother-in-law, step-mom, and Grandma....I'm ready! I killed many birds with one stone for these projects....I wrote the Product Review on Ranger Embossing Powders for the Our Daily Bread designs blog, plus the ODBD Shining the Light Challenge is to make a Mother's Day card, the Stampin' B's challenge #56 is also to make a Mother's Day card, plus the Shabby Tea Room's challenge this week is to "Get Your Bling On"...copper embossing, pearls, and lots of Glimmer Mist should qualify!!

This cute little burlap seed bag I picked up at the "$1 Spot" at Target (minus my hubby's team-member discount, btw!!) I embossed the Mother's Day sentiment with Ranger Copper EP using the ODBD set, "Happy Mother's Day", framed it with Prism Metallic Paper cut with a Nestie die, and sprayed with "Glacier" Glimmer Mist.

I used the same set, "Happy Mother's Day" for the card, embossing the verse and wreath with Copper EP as well. The flowers were colored with SU markers, then I cut out the wreath with an exacto and paper snips, and popped it up over the scripture verse. The pearls are Basic Grey Opaline, the cardstock is Prism Metallic Cardstock in Blue Steel and one layer of Copper, the designer paper is Memory Box "Frond", finished with some velvet ribbon tied with a Bow Easy, and several layers of "Glacier" Glimmer Mist.

Oranare Template plus "Real Wood" Paper!

This week's Product Review on the Our Daily Bread designs' blog is on the awesome "Real Wood" paper by Creative Imaginations. Check out the full review here. I am using Jen's Color Monday Challenge over at Christian Paper Crafts for this as well.....pinks and browns....love it!! Also, the Technique Lover's Challenge at Splitcoast this week is PIERCING, which is my obsession!!!! Also, the OCC challenge this week is to use butterflies!!
Today I am showing how to use the "Real Wood" paper along with an Ornare Embossing and Piercing Template.
The first step is to cut a piece of the wood paper slightly larger than the template. I embossed the wood paper with the template in my Spellbinders Wizard so that the raised images would be easier to stencil.

Using a sponge dauber and SU Rose Red ink, I stenciled all of the designs of the template. I cut out the center of the wood with a square Nestabilities die since this will be a raised frame above my sentiment panel. Once the stenciling was finished I used a paper piercer and foam mat to pierce all of the holes. I cut the outside edge with an exacto knife to keep the wood grain from splintering. Helpful Hint: When cutting this wood paper around curves, using scissors will cause a few rough edges....the exacto knife worked very well for the curves. Any rough edges may be lightly sanded with a sanding block.

Here is the finished card using the wood paper ornare frame. Other supplies used: "Happy Mother's Day" set from ODBD, K & Company 'Madeline' paper, and EK Success Dotted Scallop Border Punch, Martha Stuart Butterfly Punch, Basic Grey Opaline Pearls, Lace Ribbon by Offray tied with a Bow Easy, and Pearl Glimmer Mist.

This close up shows the smooth edges which were cut with an exacto knife around the outside base of the template, and sponged with cocoa. Even the butterfly was punched from the wood paper!

Thanks so much for stopping by today!! Have a very blessed week!!!
