Cocktails on the Beach

Happy Friday, everyone! This week's Friday Free4All Challenge theme over at Splitcoast is 'Let's Chill'. For my card today, I chose the 'Cocktail Mixer' set by Newton's Nook to create a birthday card for my niece. The cocktails were stamped onto a white card base, the clear glass portions were highlighted with a light blue marker; the colored sections were sponged using reverse masking; the tiny pieces were colored with markers.  A clear glaze pen was used to seal in the colors, then the background scene was sponged.

Beach-y Blessings

Hi, everyone!  This week's Ways To Use It Challenge over at Splitcoast is 'To The Beach'.  Today I am sharing three Mother's Day cards from last year which I did not get around to posting anywhere.  Each of the three use the same products from Divinity Designs LLC: Sunset Skies Slimline Paper Pad, Long and Lean Letters Dies, Bold Blessings Stamp/Die Duos, A2 Thin Pierced Frame Die, A2 Portrait Card Base with Layer Dies, Foam Mounting Tape. The letters were cut from the designer paper, layered onto cardstock, then popped up with foam tape.  This is a type of eclipse technique but with only two layers.

Thanks for visiting with me!

Warm and Beachy

Hi, everyone!  This week's Featured Stamper over at Splitcoast is Erin aka erinbh....congrats, Erin!  I chose this awesome palm tree card to case today.  I had a scrap piece of SU designer paper just large enough to use a rectangle die to cut the edges.  I used the MISTI to line up the stamps from 'Paradise Palms' so that I could stamp onto the card base multiple times and onto the designer paper multiple times in order to get full coverage.  The palm tree stamps were inked with markers so it took a couple of rounds to get the colors I wanted.  I didn't pop up the layer so that it would be flat for mailing.

Be Still

Hi, everyone!  This week's Featured Stamper over at Splitcoast is LynnZant....congrats, Lynn!!  Wow, Lynn's gallery is full of mostly scrapbook layouts and they are AMAZING!!  I chose this beautiful layout for inspiration in creating this birthday card for my sister-in-law who loves the beach.  The scene and scripture verse from 'Come To Me' were stamped with Stazon Jet Black; the scene was colored partially with markers and partially with Blending Brushes.  The chairs were coated with a clear glaze pen before sponging the sun.  The panel was cut out with the Pierced Rectangles Dies and layered with the Matting Rectangle.  The card was cut with the A2 Portrait Card Base with Layers Dies. (Stamps, dies, and blending brushes are from Divinity Designs LLC.)  Some linen thread was added to coordinate with the kraft card base.

Shake The Sand From Your Shoes

Hi, everyone!  This week's Color Challenge over at Splitcoast is to use ivory, light aqua, and teal.  My card today features all three, along with some sandy designer paper which I hope will be considered a "neutral".  I have used the following items from Divinity Designs LLC in the making of this shaker card: Stamps: Jesus Saves; Paper: Beautiful Beaches; Stencil: Water Spray; Dies: Pierced Frames, A2 Portrait Card Base with Layer; Misc: Shaker Supplies, X-press It Foam Tape.  After stenciling with the light aqua and teal, I used versamark and clear embossed the splashes before assembling the shaker.  Baker's twine was added for a final embellishment.

My Lifeguard

Happy Friday, everyone!  Today I would like to share a bookmark which was made to cover three challenges over at Splitcoast: the Friday Free4All Challenge is to use Crumb Cake (kraft); Jean's VSN 'Scavenger Hunt' Challenge : bookmark, beach, lifesaver (Jesus); and the Fan Club July 'Sun, Sand, and Surf' Central Theme Challenge.  The image and sentiment are from an ODBD set called 'My Lifeguard', stamped on a white panel which was cut out with the largest die from the ODBD Custom Bookmarks Dies set.  Once the panel was colored with sponges and markers, it was adhered to a piece of Crumb Cake cardstock....the curves were fussy cut and the straight lines trimmed with a paper cutter.

Sending You Sunshine

Hi, everyone!  This week's Friday Free4All Challenge over at Splitcoast is 'Vacation View'.  Nothing says 'vacation' like a beach scene!!  The stamps I used are from the 'Sending You Sunshine' set.  The sandcastle was stamped with Stazon Jet Black onto watercolor paper then cut out with the ODBD Custom Sandcastle Die.  The sandcastle was water-colored and popped up with foam tape over a panel which was cut out of watercolor paper with the ODBD Custom Pierced Rectangles Dies set. The panel was left inside of the die while the sand and sunset were sponged.  The red panel was cut from the ODBD Custom Circle Scalloped Rectangles Dies set. A bow tied with linen thread was added as the only embellishment.

Here are the new and previously released items featured in my two cards today:

ODBD Volleyball Stamp/Die Duos ODBD Softball Stamp/Die Duos

ODBD Custom Pennant Flags Dies ODBD Custom Double Stitched Pennant Flags Dies

ODBD Custom Double Stitched Rectangles Dies ODBD Custom Double Stitched Squares Dies

ODBD Custom Log Cabin Quilt Die ODBD Custom Clouds and Raindrops Dies

ODBD Old Glory Paper Collection

My first card features the Volleyball Stamp/Die Duos set, with an Olympics twist!  I absolutely LOVE beach volleyball when the Olympics roll around, so I colored the volleyball with yellow and blue plus made some sandy hills by tearing and sponging kraft cardstock.  The kraft and white panels were cut with the ODBD Custom Double Stitched Rectangles Dies.  The clouds were sponged over a template cut with the ODBD Custom Clouds and Raindrops Dies. The "net" was created by cutting a strip from a recycled onion bag (this proves to my hubby that I am a pack-rat for a reason! lol!!)  I used yellow baker's twine to mimic the top and bottom of the net.  The Volleyball word was stamped on a white panel cut out with the ODBD Custom Pennant Flags Dies (sponged to match the sky) and matted with the ODBD Custom Double Stitched Pennant Flags Dies.

My second card features the Softball Stamp/Die Duos set.  I played softball in my early twenties and absolutely loved it, so I was excited to see this new set!  I was extra excited knowing that I had one piece of florescent yellow cardstock in my stash...yay!!  The polka dot paper is from the ODBD Old Glory Paper Collection and matched the red stitching really well.  The "home plate" was created by cutting a rectangle with the ODBD Custom Double Stitched Rectangles Dies, then carefully cutting diagonally with a die from the ODBD Custom Double Stitched Squares Dies. (I practiced with scratch paper to get the measurements just right.)  The Eat, Sleep, Play sentiment was stamped one word at a time onto small rectangles cut out with the ODBD Custom Log Cabin Quilt Die. (Tip:  I LOVE using this quilt die since it has so many different sized rectangles for small sentiments!)  The Softball word was stamped then cut out with the ODBD Custom Pennant Flags Dies; the mat was cut with the ODBD Custom Double Stitched Pennant Flags Dies.

Sand Between My Toes

Hi, everyone! This week's Featured Stamper over at Splitcoast is Vicky White aka Miss Vicky.....congrats, Vicky!!  I fell in love with this beautiful sympathy card due to the masking, sponging, and spritzing and wanted to give it a try!  I began by cutting both the ivory panel and a mask with the ODBD Custom Double Stitched Rectangles Dies set , sponged the exposed area then spritzed with a water bottle.  Once the water was dry, the image and sentiment from 'Sending You Sunshine' was stamped. I decided to add a little pop of color so the flags were colored red and some tiny hearts cut with the ODBD Custom Umbrellas Dies set were added.

Enjoy Your Day!

Hi, everyone!  I went wild and flipped this week's Sketch Challenge at Splitcoast upside down!  I tried my best to come up with something "right side up" but I couldn't get the sunny scene out of my brain!  The number 1 panel was sponged using a template made with the ODBD Custom Clouds and Raindrops Dies; the sun (plus the negative space it fit into) was cut out with the ODBD Custom Double Stitched Circles Dies set; the sandals from 'Flip Flop Fun' were stamped onto a piece which was stamped in aqua with the Chalkboard Fan Background, fussy cut then layered onto the sandal bases which were cut out with the ODBD Custom Flip Flops Dies.  For the thin number 4 strip, I used ribbon to mimic a glimpse of the ocean.  Paper piercing and matching baker's twine were the only extras.

My Lifeguard Walks On Water!

Splitcoast Inspiration Challenge IC514
Happy Saturday, everyone! This week's Inspiration Challenge at Splitcoast makes me so anxious for vacation....it's all about shells and the beach!!  The photo to my left is one I chose as inspiration for my card today.  I needed a masculine card for today, so I chose the 'My Lifeguard' set by Our Daily Bread designs, along with the ODBD 'Fishing Net Background'.  The background was sponged using masking, the lifeguard stand was colored with markers, the panel was matted with a brick red cardstock, paper pierced, then adhered over a cut piece of burlap ribbon.  The star button was in a sample variety pack I got at CHA about five years ago.....was perfect since it looks a little like a starfish!!

Just Chillin' with Buford!

Hi, everyone!  Yes, with me, it's either feast or famine.....this is my third post for today!  Still trying to do as many of the Dare to Get Dirty challenges as I can before the deadline on Monday night.  Looks like I won't make the Challenge Queen list this year (if you complete all 40 challenges), but it was still fun playing!!  This card was a blast to make.....it's a birthday card for a co-worker.  The background was created by inking up a large acrylic block with kraft ink plus two shades of aqua, spritzing it with water, then 'smooshing' the white cardstock onto it.  After it was dry, the edges were sponged, the panel was matted in white and paper pierced.  The fun image is 'Pool Time Buford' and the sentiment is from 'You're the Bomb', both from North Coast Creations (sister company to Our Daily Bread designs).  Buford was stamped on white, then cut out with the ODBD Custom 'Stitched Ovals' dies, using the 'Out of the Box' technique, then matted with the ODBD Custom 'Ovals Dies'.

Inspired Beach House

Happy Saturday, everyone!!!  This week's Inspiration Challenge is to find inspiration from this Beach House Pinterest board.....I loved this window shutter which was transformed into a chalkboard and magazine holder....very cool!  So, I decided to create a card with a beach house theme, with the colors of this photo.  To mimic the siding on the house in the photo, I used an embossing folder with thick lines, but they did not show up well in my photo...should have sponged them I guess.  The anchor, seagull, and shells are from the 'Anchor to the Soul' set, the sentiment is from 'Home Sweet Home', cut out with the ODBD Custom 'Mini Tags' Dies.  The window was created with the ODBD Custom 'Welcoming Window' Dies, ODBD Custom 'Window Shutter and Awning' Dies, and the inside 'wallpaper' was stamped with the ODBD 'Chalkboard Fan Background'.  The stripes on the awning were sponged using masking.

Life Is Better In Flip Flops!

Happy Saturday!!!  It's a hot one outside today, so I will be staying inside today.....thank you, Lord, for the invention of air-conditioning!! :)  Today's Inspiration Challenge over at Splitcoast is to find inspiration from the Forzieri website......I chose this gorgeous scarf to help me design a birthday card for my sister, who loves the beach and anything orange.  The scarf had oranges, pinks, and brown tones so I thought a beach scene would fit just right.  I used the following stamps and dies from Our Daily Bread designs: 'Chalkboard Fan Background' (umbrella sections), 'Life is Better' (sentiment), 'Flip Flop Fun' (flip flops), ODBD Custom Flip Flop Dies, ODBD Custom Umbrella Dies, ODBD Custom Pennant Row Dies (sun spokes), ODBD Custom Clouds and Raindrops Dies.  The water was sponged over a piece of scratch paper, the clouds were sponged over a cloud die cut, and the sand was created with torn/sponged paper.

On The Beach

Hello!  I have another "funky" but fun card to share today!!  The triangle shaped card's fold is at the top and opens from the bottom.  I have combined a couple of Dare To Get Dirty Challenges along with today's Color Challenge of Cherry Cobbler, Wild Wasabi, Pool Party, and Daffodil Delight (plus no focus on flowers or sentiments).  The sentiment stamp I used is from 'Flip Flop Fun' from Our Daily Bread designs and the other stamps in the scene are from an 'oldie' stamp set from Stampin Up, 'On The Beach'.  The waves and sand were colored with sponge daubers and ink; the detailed items were colored with markers.  This will be a birthday card for my nephew, Ethan, who saw the ocean for the first time recently and was transformed into a totally different kid...he loved it!!!!
