Recycled Calendar = Quick Cards

Hi, everyone!  Today I would like to share several quick cards which were created with a recycled wall calendar.  Each year I choose calendars with the following credentials: I love to look at them each day and I know I will be able to make cool cards with them after they are finished!  I also love that the pages are more sturdy than designer paper.  Since the pages are slick, I always use Stazon permanent ink so that they do not smudge. All of the dies used are from Divinity Designs LLC; most of the stamps are from Divinity Designs; a few are from Altenew.

Simply Amazing Sunset

Hi, everyone! This week's Ways To Use It Challenge over at Splitcoast is to incorporate elements using the letters L-O-V-E. For my card, L is for lavender sky, O is for ocean, V is vacation, and E is for evening. Time has been very limited for me due to daily overtime at work, so I have been creating a lot of cards from my recycled wall calendars. This card, from start to finish, only took 15 minutes. The sentiment is from Altenew and the following dies from Divinity Designs LLC were used: Pierced Rectangles, Matting Rectangle, A2 Landscape Card Base with Layer.  Some gems were added as a finishing touch.

The Good Book

Hi, everyone! This week's Ways To Use It Challenge theme over at Splitcoast is 'Book Club'....anything book related. When I create cards for my family, I always ask if they have a request for theme, colors, etc. My brother-in-law is a pastor; he immediately asked for a 'King James Bible' card.  I dug through some old tax boxes to find a yearly planner book and tore off the cover since it had the perfect texture to look like a Bible cover!  The rectangles and cross dies are from Divinity Designs LLC and the letter dies are from Top Dog Dies.  The tassel was made from gold cording....it matches the gold foil cardstock  in the real, but not in the photo, unfortunately. On the inside a scripture verse stamp and birthday greeting were used.

A Year Full of Adventures

Hi, everyone! This week's Featured Stamper over at Splitcoast is Caterina aka caterinafmig......congrats, Caterina! When I saw this awesome card in her gallery, my first thought was to create something tropical, however, when I looked at the calendar pages in my stash, I chose this camping scene with all of the orange tones and the sun. This was perfect to create a birthday card for my nephew who loves the outdoors! Using the recycled calendar pages makes card-making so quick and easy...I love it!! The scene was cut out with a Pierced Rectangle Die then placed in my MISTI in order to stamp the sentiment which is from 'Happy Trails'. (Since the paper is a bit slick, the MISTI lets you stamp multiple times to get good ink coverage.) Other dies used were the Matting Rectangle and A2 Portrait Card Base with Layer. Some linen thread was added for a simple embellishment.

God Made The Horse

Happy Saturday, everyone! This week's Inspiration Challenge over at Splitcoast is to find inspiration from Lumas.....when I saw this awesome photo, it reminded me of one of the calendar pages I saved from last year. This was perfect to make a birthday card for my horse-loving niece! The scene from the calendar page was cut with a Pierced Rectangle Die, layered on an ivory panel cut with a Matting Rectangle.  The quote is from 'Saddle Up'; (stamps and dies are from Divinity Designs LLC)'.  Brown gingham ribbon was added for the finishing touch; a Bow Easy was used for the bow.

Sunset Sailing

Hi, everyone!  This week's Ways To Use It Challenge theme over at Splitcoast is 'Stay Afloat'.  My card today features another awesome scene from last year's wall calendar.  The sentiment is from 'Happy Trails' from Divinity Designs LLC; the scene was cut with a Pierced Rectangle Die, layered with the Matting Rectangle Die and A2 Portrait Card Base with Layer Dies.  Brass brads were added in the corners to coordinate with the sunset colors. This card took about fifteen minutes from start to finish....yay!!!

Another Recycled Calendar Card

Hi, everyone!  Today I would like to share a quick card created for the Sketch Challenge over at Splitcoast.  I used a page from last year's sunset calendar for this card.  The scene was cut with a Pierced Rectangle Die from Divinity Designs LLC, a section was cut out of the center at an angle according to the Sketch Challenge layout, then matted onto a panel cut with the Matting Rectangle.  The sentiment is from MFT; my MISTI was used to line up the stamp and to make sure the inking of the stamp was complete. Brass brads were added before adhering to the card panel.

Tropical Sunset

Hi, everyone!  Right now it's a whole 3 degrees outside, so I'm going tropical!  This week's Inspiration Challenge at Splitcoast is to find inspiration from the Puzzle Warehouse.....this gorgeous tropical scene reminded me of last year's wall calendar which I disassembled for re-purposing into cards. In order to capture the full scene, I had to make it slimline sized. The dies I used are from Divinity Designs LLC: Slimline Pierced Rectangles, Slimline Card Base, and Sentiment Strips.  The sentiment is from MFT.

Let's Roll!

Hi, everyone!  Today I would like to share a birthday card for one of my nephews...his fave toy is a red truck so I chose the 'Special Boy' set from Our Daily Bread designs.  For the embossed background, I ran a cardstock panel through my Xyron, adhered a piece of aluminum foil to it, used a diamond-plate embossing folder on it, then cut it out with the ODBD Custom Pierced Rectangles Dies set. The image panel was cut out with the ODBD Custom Pierced Squares Dies.  The image was colored with SU markers and the sky was sponged over a template cut with the ODBD Custom Clouds and Raindrops Dies.  Silver brads and black gingham ribbon were used for finishing touches. I will be submitting this to the Falliday Fest Forest Ranger 'recycling' challenge and for the October Fan Club theme since I used my Xyron machine.

Here are the new and previously released items featured in my two cards today:

ODBD Volleyball Stamp/Die Duos ODBD Softball Stamp/Die Duos

ODBD Custom Pennant Flags Dies ODBD Custom Double Stitched Pennant Flags Dies

ODBD Custom Double Stitched Rectangles Dies ODBD Custom Double Stitched Squares Dies

ODBD Custom Log Cabin Quilt Die ODBD Custom Clouds and Raindrops Dies

ODBD Old Glory Paper Collection

My first card features the Volleyball Stamp/Die Duos set, with an Olympics twist!  I absolutely LOVE beach volleyball when the Olympics roll around, so I colored the volleyball with yellow and blue plus made some sandy hills by tearing and sponging kraft cardstock.  The kraft and white panels were cut with the ODBD Custom Double Stitched Rectangles Dies.  The clouds were sponged over a template cut with the ODBD Custom Clouds and Raindrops Dies. The "net" was created by cutting a strip from a recycled onion bag (this proves to my hubby that I am a pack-rat for a reason! lol!!)  I used yellow baker's twine to mimic the top and bottom of the net.  The Volleyball word was stamped on a white panel cut out with the ODBD Custom Pennant Flags Dies (sponged to match the sky) and matted with the ODBD Custom Double Stitched Pennant Flags Dies.

My second card features the Softball Stamp/Die Duos set.  I played softball in my early twenties and absolutely loved it, so I was excited to see this new set!  I was extra excited knowing that I had one piece of florescent yellow cardstock in my stash...yay!!  The polka dot paper is from the ODBD Old Glory Paper Collection and matched the red stitching really well.  The "home plate" was created by cutting a rectangle with the ODBD Custom Double Stitched Rectangles Dies, then carefully cutting diagonally with a die from the ODBD Custom Double Stitched Squares Dies. (I practiced with scratch paper to get the measurements just right.)  The Eat, Sleep, Play sentiment was stamped one word at a time onto small rectangles cut out with the ODBD Custom Log Cabin Quilt Die. (Tip:  I LOVE using this quilt die since it has so many different sized rectangles for small sentiments!)  The Softball word was stamped then cut out with the ODBD Custom Pennant Flags Dies; the mat was cut with the ODBD Custom Double Stitched Pennant Flags Dies.

ODBD Boho Bolds Paper Collection

My first project is a 6x6 scrapbook page which was built around this awesome photo from my mom and step-dad's vacation to the Alabama shore.  When I first saw the new 'By the Sea' stamp set with the cool pelican, I immediately thought of this photo!  The background scene is a piece of designer paper from the ODBD By The Shore Paper Collection; the edges were distressed, torn, and inked, then pieces of a recycled onion bag were tucked between the layers and under the photo panel.  The photo and sentiment panel were both cut with the ODBD Custom Pierced Rectangles Dies set; the letters were cut with the ODBD Custom Alphabet Dies and numbers cut with the ODBD Custom Numbers Dies.

My second project is an A2 card which features the 'Thanks a Melon' set, coordinating ODBD Custom Watermelon Dies, ODBD Custom Fence Die, ODBD Custom Clouds and Raindrops Dies, ODBD Custom Grass Lawn Die (available Sept.1), ODBD Custom Double Stitched Rectangles Dies, and the ODBD Boho Bolds Paper Collection.  The watermelons were stamped, cut out with the custom dies, colored with markers, layered over the die cut grass and fence.  The sky was sponged over a template cut from the ODBD Custom Clouds and Raindrops Dies, then two clouds were popped up with foam tape for added dimension.
