April Sneak Peeks and Paper Piercing Tutorial!

Hi everyone! Just wanted to share with you a couple of cards I created with some brand new stamps from Our Daily Bread designs (available April 1st!). I made these while I was filming a Paper Piercing / Faux Stitching Tutorial over at the Our Daily Bread designs blog.....check out the tutorial HERE.

I LOVE this new stamp, the Prayer of St. Francis! It has been a favorite of mine for many years....I will store this stamp on the shelf next to the Mother Teresa sets by Our Daily Bread designs......oh, in case you're a Mother Teresa fan, those sets are 'Mother Teresa', 'Let Us Begin', and there is a quote from her on one of the March releases, 'Spread Light'!

Stamps: Our Daily Bread designs 'Prayer of St. Francis' (will be available April 1st);
Cardstock: Stampin Up Pear Pizazz and Very Vanilla;
Designer Paper: Prima 'Romantique';

Accessories: Spellbinders Grand Calibur (LOVE!), Grand Labels One Dies, Cheery Lynn Designs 'Fanciful Flourish', Prima Flower, Foam Tape, Paper Piercer;

To find out how to make shaped cards with your Spellbinder dies and Grand Calibur, check out a tutorial HERE!

Another card I made for the Paper Piercing tutorial features the new 'Cat Sympathy' set....isn't this Kitty adorable?! Pets are part of our families and it sure is tough when we have to say goodbye. I could have used this (and the 'Dog Sympathy' set) many times already, unfortunately.

Stamps: Our Daily Bread designs 'Cat Sympathy' (will be available April 1st);

Me? A Seamstress? Who'da Thunk It?

Hi everyone! My great-niece, Kylinne, turned one this past weekend..... I had already purchased a gift for her, but then I saw the cutest penguin pillow on Jess' blog, Craftiness Is Not Optional, and ordered the pattern immediately (link below)! I just had to give it a try, even though I hadn't sewn anything like this in 30 years (since junior high!) By far, it's not perfect, but I managed to "get 'er done" in half a day (yes, I'm slow!)

I spent so much time on the pillow that I ran out of time for the matching card (made with the fabric scraps).....I will post that soon....um.....as soon as I finish it!

Here is the beautiful, blue-eyed birthday girl herself!!! If you saw the recent scrapbook page HERE during Our Daily Bread designs Anniversary Week, this is the same little darlin'!!!!

Supplies used for the Penguin Pillow:
Pattern by Gingercake Patterns and Design;
Fabric by JoAnn's (I chose these colors to match Kylinne's room);
Tools: Basics....scissors (no fancy cutting wheel), my sweet little (and inexpensive) Singer sewing machine from Target (my honey bought it so I could sew on my cards.....HA!!!!), and me!

Thanks for taking a peek! You just might see more "different" stuff from me yet.....I think I might have the "sewing bug"!!!!

Have a blessed day!!!

Flower Soft Sympathy Card

Hi everyone! Today I'd like to share a sympathy card created with one of the new Flower Soft Card Kits (coming soon to Our Daily Bread designs!). I am a HUGE fan of all of Flower Soft's products.....there are so many gorgeous pre-printed "Card Toppers" and kits....all you have to do is stamp, add Flower Soft sprinkles, and your card nearly makes itself!!! If you'd like to learn more about Flower Soft, please visit the Tutorial/Product Review Archives on the Our Daily Bread designs Blog.

I have incorporated the following challenges for this card:
Splitcoast's Free 4 All: Use three or more of something....I used three layers and three pearls;
Really Reasonable Ribbon Challenge: use ribbon, lace, or trim on your Spring project;
Raise the Bar: In The Garden;
Paper Play: Spring colors;
Freshly Brewed Challenges: Outdoor scenery;
Stampin Sisters in Christ: new season....spring flowers.

Card 'Ingredients':
Stamps: Our Daily Bread designs 'Flourished Verses';
Cardstock: Stampin Up Old Olive, Elegant Eggplant, and Whisper White;
Designer Paper: is a Flower Soft Card Topper from the 'Designer Card Making Kit - Floral Series 1' (coming soon to Our Daily Bread designs);
Ink: Stazon Royal Purple;
Accessories: 'Lilac' Flower Soft, Spellbinders Labels Eight, Bow Easy, May Arts Satin Ribbon, 'Pearl' Glimmer Mist;
Size: A2 approximate (the shaped card was cut from an A2 card).

Grunge Butterfly Birthday Card

Hi everyone! Hope you have all had a wonderful weekend! It has been so gorgeous here in Indiana, and though I have a bit of spring fever and wish to stay outside, I did take some time to play in a couple of challenges for a birthday card I need to mail out. The Featured Stamper at Splitcoast is Diane aka pinkberry.....what a fantastic gallery!!! I chose this gorgeous card due to the great layout! As Diane's card, I chose two different pieces of designer paper, but once I put them together, they look the same...oh well!

I have also used the Stampin Sisters In Christ Challenge, which is to incorporate something from the new season....butterflies and flowers!;
The Technique Lover's Challenge at Splitcoast today is 'Crop It'....instead of cropping my image by cutting, I left the panel inside the Spellbinder die and stamped over it;
The Inspiration Challenge from Splitcoast: I chose this vintage wallpaper from Johnny Tapete.

Card 'Ingredients':
Stamps: God's Love, 2-Step Butterflies;
Cardstock: Stampin Up Coral Calypso and Very Vanilla;
Designer paper: Glitz 'French Kiss';
Ink: Stazon Jet Black, Stampin Up Coral Calypso, Crumb Cake, and Early Espresso (sponging);
Accessories: ODBD 'Grunge Butterfly Die', Spellbinders Romantic Rectangles, Crocheted Lace, Zva Creative Pearls, Spica Glitter Pen (butterfly), Stamp-a-ma-jig Stamp Positioner, 'Pearl' Glimmer Mist, CM Corner Rounder, Paper Piercer and template;
Size: A2.

Our Daily Bread designs 4th Anniversary New Release Hop!

Hi everyone! The day is finally here.....it's Our Daily Bread designs' 4th Anniversary.....congrats, ODBD!!!! For those of you who have been with us for a while, you know that we have brand new scripture stamps to release for our anniversary! To our newcomers, WELCOME! For each anniversary's stamp release, all of the designers for ODBD (Our Daily Bread designs) have the opportunity to choose a scripture to be made into a stamp.....this year, we have chosen a mixture of scriptures, quotes, and sentiments....check out all of the New Releases HERE!

As soon as I heard the news that we could choose sentiments and quotes as well as scripture verses for our stamp choice, I instantly picked "You Bless Me!" for mine! There are so many instances when I want to express how much someone has blessed my life, and an ordinary "Thank You" stamp just doesn't say enough. These "three little words" say even more than thank you! I "heart" my new stamp!!! :)

For my card sample, I am using my sentiment stamp from the new "Sentiments Collection". I started by stamping the frame from Mini Tags 2 in bright pink, then stamped "You Bless Me!" inside, using a Stamp-a-ma-jig stamp positioner to line it up straight, then the tag was cut out with Spellbinders Ribbon Tags Trio 3. Most of the card was finished when I decided it needed a pink 2-Step Butterfly to coordinate with the tag. I stamped the solid butterfly background in bright pink, then, using the Stamp-a-ma-jig, overstamped the butterfly outline in dark brown, used a Glitter Pen to highlight the butterfly wings, then cut out the butterfly using the "Grunge Butterfly Die".

Card 'Ingredients':
Stamps: Our Daily Bread designs 'Sentiments Collection', Mini Tags 2, 2-Step Butterflies;
Cardstock: Stampin Up Early Espresso (brown), Very Vanilla;
Designer Paper: Glitz 'Pretty In Pink';
Ink: Stampin Up Pixie Pink and Early Espresso, Stazon Timber Brown;
Accessories: ODBD 'Grunge Butterfly Die', Zva Creative Pearls, 'Pearl' Glimmer Mist, Spellbinders Ribbon Tags Trio 3, May Arts Brown Satin Ribbon and Ivory Satin Trim, Martha Stewart Arch Lattice Border Punch, Stampin Up Paper Piercer and square template, foam tape, Spica Glitter Pen, Stamp-a-ma-jig Stamp Positioner;
Size: 6 x 4-1/2.

Now, the moment you've been waiting for.....on with the hop!!!!! If you have hopped here from Debi's fabulous blog, you are in the right place. If not, please head over to the Our Daily Bread designs Blog and start from the beginning.....we don't want you to miss a thing!!!! You have until Sunday, March 18 at 8pm EDT to complete the hop. Our Daily Bread designs "For the Love of....Background Stamps" Blog Hop!

Happy Thursday, everyone!!! It's time for another Alumni Team Blog Hop....the theme this time around is "For the Love Of.....Background Stamps!" Since this week is Our Daily Bread designs' 4th Anniversary, we are incorporating some items associated with 4th anniversaries.....colors of topaz or aqua, flowers, fruit, linen, silk, etc., along with ODBD Background Stamps. Along with a Prima Flower and the color blue, I am using the following Background Stamps: It Is Well With My Soul and Small Bird Background:

For my sample below, the Small Bird Background was stamped on Very Vanilla with baby blue ink using the MegaMount stamp block, then the hymn was overstamped in black. After tearing the edges and sponging with espresso brown and baby blue ink, the panel was layered on espresso brown cardstock. At this point it really needed a pop of color, so I added some Ruby Red ink using an air-spritzer tool to match the Prima Flower and dew drops in the top corner. The corner flourish is the "Victorian Romance Flourish" by Cheery Lynn Designs...though it looks black in the photo, the flourish was cut from Early Espresso (brown) cardstock to match the mat. When finished, several layers of "Pearl" Glimmer Mist were added for some sparkle.

If you've ever been to my gallery at ODBD or Splitcoast, you will see that I love to use Our Daily Bread designs' Background Stamps as the main focus of many projects. With such great backgrounds, especially the hymns, I just can't bear to cover them up!!

Card 'Ingredients':
Stamps: Our Daily Bread designs 'It Is Well With My Soul' Background and 'Small Bird Background';
Cardstock: Stampin Up Bashful Blue, Very Vanilla, and Early Espresso Brown;
Ink: Stazon Jet Black, Stampin Up Ruby Red (spritzed), Bashful Blue, and Early Espresso Brown;
Accessories: MegaMount Stamp Block, Cheery Lynn Designs 'Victorian Romance Flourish', May Arts Ivory Satin Trim, 'Fire and Ice' Dew Drops, Prima Flower, 'Pearl' Glimmer Mist;
Size: 6 x 4-1/2.

Now.....on with the hop! Our talented Alumni Team, plus design team, challenge team, and scrapbook team volunteers have all made samples with the various Background Stamps. On one of the following blogs is a hidden prize of one $15.00 gift certificate to the ODBD store! Visit each blog, leave a comment, then return to the ODBD blog to let us know you have completed the hop. You have until March 28th 6 pm to complete the hop...the winner will be announced on the ODBD blog on March 29. Happy hopping!!!!

I am so, so blessed to be a designer for Our Daily Bread designs and have been since December 2008! I have sooooo many favorite sets so it's difficult to choose just a few, but here are the ones at the top of my "heart" list:
Happy Birthday......I have nearly worn this set out!! The scriptures are some of my favorites and can be used for any occasion. Since I make an average of 100 birthday cards a year, these birthday sentiments always accompany a scripture on the inside!
Faith....I adore the butterfly image and the scriptures are so beautiful and versatile! Something about this set just speaks to me!!
The Mighty Sea.....perfect not only for masculine cards, but for any occasion.....such a gorgeous image and I love the scriptures too!
Seed Packet set.......I love this set because there are many stamps (The Garden Collection) which coordinate with it....the possibilities with this set are endless! The scripture about having the faith of a mustard seed is one of my all time favorite scriptures! I have used the Seed Packet image as a photo frame for my great-niece's photo on my scrap-page sample today. (Isn't she adorable?!)
