A Time To Mend

Hi, everyone!  This quick card was made for Dawn's 'Crafty Sentiment' Challenge for the July VSN (Virtual Stamp Night).  The sewing machine image from 'A Time To Mend' was inked in navy blue and stamped onto a white panel which was cut out with the ODBD Custom Layered Lacey Squares Dies set, stenciled in gray, then matted with a gray panel cut out with the ODBD Custom Pierced Squares Dies.  The navy blue layer is the largest die from the same Lacey set as the image panel.  The button was cut out with the ODBD Custom Sewing Set Dies set with navy baker's twine.

The Highest Mountain

Hi, everyone!  It's another fun Sketch Challenge at Splitcoast this week. Instead of adding layers for the two vertical strips, I used a craft knife and cut the strips from the card base and tucked the other layers underneath. The image from 'Keep Climbing' was stamped in kraft on a panel cut with the ODBD Custom Squares Dies, matted in black with the ODBD Custom Double Stitched Squares Dies.  The quote is from the 'Mountains' coordinating set.  The background panel, cut out with the ODBD Custom Double Stitched Rectangles Dies was stamped in kraft with the 'Birch Background' stamp.  Before adhering the square panel, some holes were paper pierced in the corners and linen thread was stitched through with a needle to coordinate with the linen thread tied through the eyelets.

Let It Sew, Let It Sew, Let It Sew!

Happy Saturday, everyone!  This week's Inspiration Challenge over at Splitcoast is to find inspiration from the Seaweed Kisses site.....I fell in love with the peach/hot pink color combination of these smash books , so I used these colors to create this altered spiral notebook.  I started by cutting a 3 x 5 piece of apricot cardstock, stamped the 'Dresden Quilt Stamp' by Our Daily Bread designs in Stazon Fuschia ink, highlighted parts of the stamp with an apricot marker, created some faux stitching with a pink marker, stamped a sentiment from 'A Time To Mend', then adhered three paper buttons which were cut out with the ODBD Custom Matting Circles Dies set.  To match the holes in the notebook, one piece of paper was cut out of the notebook in order to punch the holes in the same places. With scissors, a snip was made for each hole; after adhering the cover, each section at the top was pressed through the wire and adhered to the cover.  If you'd like to see a photo tutorial of this easy-peasy alteration, click HERE.

Me? A Seamstress? Who'da Thunk It?

Hi everyone! My great-niece, Kylinne, turned one this past weekend..... I had already purchased a gift for her, but then I saw the cutest penguin pillow on Jess' blog, Craftiness Is Not Optional, and ordered the pattern immediately (link below)! I just had to give it a try, even though I hadn't sewn anything like this in 30 years (since junior high!) By far, it's not perfect, but I managed to "get 'er done" in half a day (yes, I'm slow!)


I spent so much time on the pillow that I ran out of time for the matching card (made with the fabric scraps).....I will post that soon....um.....as soon as I finish it!

Here is the beautiful, blue-eyed birthday girl herself!!! If you saw the recent scrapbook page HERE during Our Daily Bread designs Anniversary Week, this is the same little darlin'!!!!

Pattern by Gingercake Patterns and Design;
Fabric by JoAnn's (I chose these colors to match Kylinne's room);
Tools: Basics....scissors (no fancy cutting wheel), my sweet little (and inexpensive) Singer sewing machine from Target (my honey bought it so I could sew on my cards.....HA!!!!), and me!

Today's card is both a sneak peek for a new set, called "Get Well", from Our Daily Bread Designs, plus another combo challenge! There are so many fun challenges each week, but not enough time to do them all, so combo it is!! Anne's Inspiration Challenge today over at Splitcoast is to choose an item from Creative Wall Coverings site......I chose this wallpaper border which matched my fabric swatch perfectly. Julia's Ways To Use It challenge was to make a vintage card...this fabric has been in my stash for 20 years....that makes it an antique, right? Wendy's Limited Supply Challenge was to make a gift card holder, use at least one butterfly, plus incorporate chocolate cardstock.....this was all in celebration of her birthday yesterday....HAPPY BIRTHDAY, WENDY!! Over at Christian Paper Crafts, Cindy's Fun On Friday challenge was to use fabric on your project....this is MY VERY FIRST sewn card....with my sewing machine, that is!! And I saved the best for last....Michelle aka Tolep8nt is the featured artist for Case Artist Saturday over at CPC.....check out her awesome gallery HERE or her blog HERE.
