YOUnicorn

Hi, everyone! This week's Color Challenge over at Splitcoast was perfect for creating a birthday card for my niece. The stamps and dies are from My Favorite Things. The image was colored with markers and then highlighted with a glitter pen, though the glitter did not show up in the photos. I used thin foam tape and sequin stickers so that it wouldn't cost more to mail.

Happy Third Birthday!

Hi, everyone!  Today is '123' day (January 23rd), so today's Clean and Simple Challenge over at Splitcoast is to include numbers in your CAS cards.  My card today is for one of my little nieces.  I used one of the Number Fun sets from MFT, colored with markers and water-coloring.  A few clouds were cut out and added for balance.  The scene was cut out with Double Stitched Squares Dies and Squares Dies from Divinity Designs LLC.

Rainbow In The Clouds

Hi, everyone!  This week's Inspiration Challenge over at Splitcoast is to find inspiration from the Frankie Print Co's Pinterest board......I chose this photo for today.  This is a birthday card for one of my nieces who loves rainbows, glitter, and all things girly!  I began by cutting the rainbow seven times with the 'Slimline Rainbow and Clouds' Die set by Divinity Designs LLC, once in white and again for each color for the inserts.  The tiny hearts from the 'Clouds and Raindrops' Dies set were cut from the same colors.  The scripture verse is from the 'Rainbow of Hope' stamp set.  Other items used are Rainbow Sherbet Paper Pad, Foam Mounting Tape, a Blending Brush for the clouds, and the following dies: Pierced Rectangles, Matting Rectangle, and the A2 Landscape Card Base with Layer.

Sweet Thoughts of You

Hi, everyone!  This week's Color Challenge over at Splitcoast is to use Early Espresso, Mint Macaron, and Sweet Sorbet with a dessert option of something sweet.  I didn't have the exact colors, but got pretty close.  For my card, I chose 'Catching Butterflies' by Stampin Up and a white card base.  The images were stamped with Stazon Jet Black and lightly water-colored to keep the card from warping. The clouds were sponged and a butterfly trail was added with a fine tip marker.

Birthday Giraffes

Hi, everyone!  I needed to create a quick birthday and get it right in the mail, so I used the latest Sketch Challenge from My Favorite Things and the adorable Number Fun - 3 stamp set. My watercolor skills were a bit lacking this time around, but the giraffes are still adorable!  I fussy cut two clouds from the set to add a little something to the scene. The Double Stitched Square Die and Square Die are both from Divinity Designs LLC.

Oceans of Love

Hi, everyone!  Today I would like to share a fun card created for one of my niece's birthday.  I used the MFT Sketch Challenge for the layout, along with an MFT stamp set, 'Oceans of Love'.  The images and sentiment were stamped onto watercolor paper with Stazon Jet Black, cut out with the coordinating dies, then watercolored. The background panel was spritzed with olive and turquoise Glimmer Mist; the images were 'painted' with Pearl Glimmer Mist at the last.  The sentiment was cut out with the Sentiment Strips 2 Dies by Divinity Designs LLC; the background panel was cut out with the Pierced Rectangles Dies, framed with the Matting Rectangle; the card was cut with the A2 Portrait Card Base with Layer Dies.

Sweet Thoughts of You

Hi, everyone!  This week's Inspiration Challenge over at Splitcoast is to find inspiration from Happy Happy Nester...the article I found was about creating floral napkin rings, but I fell in love with the yellow gingham napkins and went straight for my gingham paper assortment. I cut a 4-1/4 x 5-1/2 panel from the gingham, then used a Double Stitched Rectangle Die from Divinity Designs LLC to cut the frame to adhere to the white card base. (This leaves me another gingham panel already die cut for another card!) The little girl's dress was paper-pieced with the gingham paper as well.  The images and sentiment from the 'Catching Butterflies' set were stamped onto the white card base; aquapainter and markers colored the images and the background was lightly sponged with aqua.  A touch of glitter pen was added to the butterfly and a flight trail was added with a journaling pen.  A yellow gingham bow was tied using the Bow Easy for a finishing touch.

Minnie Mouse Birthday

Hi, everyone!  This week's Featured Stamper over at Splitcoast is Cindy H....congrats, Cindy!!  When I saw this adorable card, it reminded me that I had not used this Minnie pre-made die-cut I bought at a scrapbooking booth last year at a stamp show.  Instead of red and yellow like Cindy's card, I coordinated the colors with the Minnie die-cut.  I used the following items from Divinity Designs LLC to create the card: 'Princess' stamp set (retired), A2 Thin Pierced Frame Die, Layering Hearts Dies, Clouds and Raindrops Dies (tiny hearts and clouds), Grass Hill Die, Blending Brushes, and Foam Mounting Tape. A yellow bow tied with the Bow Easy was the finishing touch.

Happy Birthday, Princess!

Hi, everyone!  This week's Featured Stamper over at Splitcoast is Diana Gibson....congrats, Diana!!  I chose this gorgeous card to case, but turned it into a birthday card for my niece.  Instead of an oval, I used a heart for the center and moved the sentiment panel to the other side.  The crown was stamped in Stazon Jet Black, colored with markers and sponges, then fussy cut and coated with a clear glaze pen.  Here is a list of items from Divinity Designs LLC used for this card:  Ornate Hearts Dies, Large Numbers Dies, Flourishes Embossing Folder, Pierced Rectangles Dies, Scalloped Rectangles Dies, Clouds and Raindrops Dies (tiny hearts), Easter Card Collection 2016 (crosses) and 'Princess' (retired from Our Daily Bread designs).

Have a Purrr-fect Day!

Hi, everyone!  I have used this week's Sketch Challenge over at Splitcoast to help in creating a birthday card for my great niece, Kynna, who will be two this week.  The challenge police may come after me since the main panel does not go all of the way across.  For my card, the kitty from 'The Cat's Meow' was stamped on white with Stazon Jet Black; the eyes, ears, and nose were colored with markers then coated with a clear glaze pen.  The fur was then colored with a sponge dauber and ink; I do not have the custom die for this set, so I had to fussy cut it.  The bow was stamped separately, fussy cut, then paper-pieced onto the kitty.  The following custom dies from ODBD were also used: Birthday Balloons, Numbers, Fence, Grass Hill, Double Stitched Pennant Flags, Double Stitched Rectangles, Clouds and Raindrops (cloud stencil). Pink baker's twine was used to 'tie' the balloons to the fence.

Daughter of the King!

Hi, everyone!  This week's Ways To Use It Challenge is all about the number 3: three panels, three folds, etc.  I chose three tiny silver hearts for this 1st birthday card for my niece, Molly!  This stamp set, 'Princess', from Our Daily Bread designs, is retired, unfortunately, but it's still one of my go-to sets for little girls in my family.  The crown was stamped in Stazon Jet Black onto silver metallic paper, then metallic pens were used to color the gems.  The tiny hearts were cut with the ODBD Custom 'Umbrellas' Dies set, the large hearts were cut with the ODBD Custom Ornate Hearts Dies.  The crown was fussy cut and wrapped around the top heart panel before adhering to the scalloped mat.  The silver '1' was cut out with the ODBD Custom Large Numbers Dies; the polka dot panel was cut out with the ODBD Custom Pierced Rectangles Dies.  The yummy polka dot and coordinating paper is from the ODBD Pastel Paper Pack.

Butterfly Blessings

Hi, everyone!  This week's Featured Stamper over at Splitcoast is Angie aka Sunshinesense....congrats, Angie!  I chose this gorgeous card to recreate today since I loved the framing with the die cut panel peeking through, plus it was the perfect inspiration to help me create a birthday card for one of my nieces who loves pink and butterflies!  Instead of cutting all of the panels in pink, the ODBD Custom Lattice Background Die and the sentiment panel were cut from white; the pink frame was cut by using two dies from the ODBD Custom Pierced Rectangles Dies set.  The sentiment from 'Pennant Flag Verses' was stamped in black, cut out with the ODBD Custom Pennant Flags Dies set and stenciled with pink before removing from the die. The butterfly was cut with the ODBD Custom Fancy Fritillary Dies set; pearls were added as on Angie's card.

Unicorn Blessings

Hi, everyone!  This week's Inspiration Challenge over at Splitcoast is to choose a color collection from Design Seeds to inspire your project.  Since my first card was so quick and easy, I'm back for another round!  This time I chose this awesome color palette to help in creating a birthday card for one of my nieces who asked for a purple card with a unicorn.  Purple...no problem!  Unicorn....eek!  Since I did not have a unicorn stamp, I dug out one of the very first horse stamps I ever bought and drew a horn. Note: this is the extent of my artistic ability....lol!!!!  All of the white areas were colored with a clear Glaze Pen then the rest was sponged with lavender.  Though the camera did not capture it, the horn and hooves were colored with a glitter pen.  I have also used these items from Our Daily Bread designs: ODBD Pennant Flag Verses, ODBD Custom Double Stitched Pennant Flags Dies, ODBD Custom Pennant Flags Dies, ODBD Custom Double Stitched Circles Dies, ODBD Custom Circles Dies, ODBD Custom Double Stitched Rectangles Dies, ODBD Custom Clouds and Raindrops Dies (template to sponge clouds). The paper I chose is from an older Prima collection....I loved the swirled colors and thought it had sort of a fantasy-type look to it.

The Cat's Meow

Splitcoast Stampers Sketch Challenge 561
Happy Friday, everyone! My card today was inspired by three different challenges at Splitcoast this week: Sketch Challenge 561 (photo to the left), the Ways To Use It 'Cat' Challenge, and the Friday Free4All Challenge to use two shades of purple....I used Almost Amethyst (retired) and Wisteria Wonder. This is a birthday card for yet another niece who loves purple! (It's a good thing that I love purple since my family is full of purple lovers!!) I used the 'The Cat's Meow' set by Our Daily Bread designs, the ODBD Custom 'Fence' Die, the ODBD Custom 'Pennants' Dies set for the sentiment panel, plus created a cloud stencil from the ODBD Custom 'Clouds and Raindrops' Dies.  I wanted a soft color for the Kitty, so I colored the eyes and nose, then used a glaze pen over them for a resist effect, then sponged gray over all and wisteria on the edges of the fussy cut cat.  There is a custom die set available, but I forgot to order it...duh! :)

Royal Birthday

Hi, everyone!  Today I would like to share a nameframe gift and matching card for my great-niece, who is turning two!!  The castle is from 'Special Girl', the scripture is from a retired ODBD set 'Childred of God', the fence across the bottom was cut out with the  ODBD Custom 'Gilded Gate' Dies, and the little hearts were cut with the ODBD Custom 'Umbrella' Dies (available April 1st) and added to the glittery chipboard letters.  After stamping the castle, I continued the cobblestone path to the gate by drawing it in by hand, then the scene was sponged using masking to protect the images. Ha, now it is clear to all that I am a stamper, not an artist! :)  I would have added some flowers to the fence, however, there was not enough room in the shallow frame....boo hoo!

Here is the matching card which also features the 'Special Girl' set, along with some new dies from Our Daily Bread designs (available April 1st).  The frame was cut out with the ODBD Custom 'Lacey Layered Squares' Dies and I used more of the tiny hearts cut out with the ODBD Custom 'Umbrella' Dies.  The card layout is based on this beautiful card from Lisa aka countrybeamer, who was named this week's Featured Stamper over at Splitcoast.....congrats, Lisa!!!

Sugar and Spice and All Things Nice!

Hi, everyone!  This week's Ways To Use It and Friday Free 4 All Challenges at Splitcoast were both about using squares, so I took this opportunity to make a birthday card for my sweet little niece, Madilyn, who will be four in a few weeks.  The lady bugs were stamped with the Stamped-By 'Ladybug Mini' by Our Daily Bread designs, then cut out and glued onto panels which were stamped with the ODBD 'Stitch Background'.  The sentiment is from the ODBD 'Little Girls' set and I felt that I just had to use the ODBD 'Gingham Background' to tie it all together!

The Inspiration Challenge yesterday at Splitcoast was to find an item from "Wedding Bells"....I chose this beautiful jeweled tiara as inspiration......the jewels in my tiara stamp were colored with a glitter pen...the hearts were colored red to match the designer paper.
