Lose Yourself In Nature

Hi, everyone!  This is a birthday card for my sister-in-law....good thing she doesn't read my blog! :)  I have used two challenges from Splitcoast: this week's Sketch Challenge 572 and today's Ways To Use It Challenge which is to use a silhouette or shadow on your project.  For my card I used the Find Beauty set by North Coast Creations (sister company to Our Daily Bread designs).  The banana colored panel was embossed only using the ODBD Custom Boho Background Dies set, then cut out with the outline of the same die set. The image/sentiment panel was cut out with the ODBD Custom Double Stitched Circles Dies, colored with sponges, then matted with the ODBD Custom Doily Dies' largest doily.  I'm a bit disappointed in my photo....the banana and blackberry colors look so yummy in the real!

The Cat's Meow

Splitcoast Stampers Sketch Challenge 561
Happy Friday, everyone! My card today was inspired by three different challenges at Splitcoast this week: Sketch Challenge 561 (photo to the left), the Ways To Use It 'Cat' Challenge, and the Friday Free4All Challenge to use two shades of purple....I used Almost Amethyst (retired) and Wisteria Wonder. This is a birthday card for yet another niece who loves purple! (It's a good thing that I love purple since my family is full of purple lovers!!) I used the 'The Cat's Meow' set by Our Daily Bread designs, the ODBD Custom 'Fence' Die, the ODBD Custom 'Pennants' Dies set for the sentiment panel, plus created a cloud stencil from the ODBD Custom 'Clouds and Raindrops' Dies.  I wanted a soft color for the Kitty, so I colored the eyes and nose, then used a glaze pen over them for a resist effect, then sponged gray over all and wisteria on the edges of the fussy cut cat.  There is a custom die set available, but I forgot to order it...duh! :)

Go With All Your Heart

Splitcoast Stampers Sketch Challenge 543
Hello, everyone!  Better late than never, I made this birthday card using this past week's Sketch Challenge at Splitcoast.  The image from the North Coast Creations' 'Sail Away' set was stamped, colored with masking and sponging (and some markers), then cut into four sections and adhered to a white mat.  After the image panel was finished, I realized that it was a bit large and covered up the ODBD 'Fishing Net Background' too much, but it was too late at that point....not my best work, but oh well, can't win 'em all! :)  Some natural ribbon was added, along with teal baker's twine to match the water.

Wildflower Silhouette Hello!

Splitcoast Stampers Sketch Challenge SC525
Hi, everyone!! Today's Sketch Challenge over at Splitcoast was a PERFECT opportunity to share a sneak peek of some upcoming goodies from Our Daily Bread designs....yay!! The background was stamped in dark brown onto aqua cardstock with the new 'Wildflower Silhouette Background'; the same stamp was used with aqua ink on white cardstock for the top panel and the image was lined up with the bottom image.  The ODBD Custom 'Hello' Die was cut out of dark brown and popped up with foam tape. The background image and Hello sentiment were both highlighted with a glitter pen for a little glitz.  I will also be submitting this to the Our Daily Bread designs Shining the Light Challenge, which is 'anything goes with ODBD stamps'!

Rockin' Birthday!

Splitcoast Sketch Challenge 522
Hi, everyone!! Hubby and I have been under the weather so I haven't felt like stamping much lately. But when I saw today's Sketch Challenge over at Splitcoast, I rushed to my room and made this quick card before leaving for work. Both the image and sentiment are from a new set by Our Daily Bread designs, called 'Rock Star'.  The sentiment was stamped with navy Stazon onto cotton ribbon.  The image was stamped once in navy and once in brown, fussy cut and popped up.  Instead of the scalloped border at the bottom, I tore the edge and ink distressed it.  The musical paper is out of my scrap bin....I'm pretty sure it's by Authentique.  This card will go into my birthday card stash for one of my many nephews.

Bee Happy and Thank You, Friend!

Splitcoast Sketch Challenge 520
Hi, everyone!!  This week over at Splitcoast, there were quite a few fun challenges which I did not want to miss, so I have combined them in the making of a birthday card for my sister-in-law, plus a card for a dear friend who is having some health issues.
For my first card, I have used Sketch Challenge 520, plus this week's Color Challenge of Black, White, and Hello Honey.  Since I do not have  the newest SU colors yet, I used So Saffron which was the closest color I had on hand. The background was stamped with the ODBD Gingham Background stamp, the image from 'Bee Happy' was stamped in So Saffron, then the scripture was overstamped in black. The little bee, also from 'Bee Happy', was stamped, colored, then cut out with the ODBD Custom 'Zinnia and Leaves' Dies set.

The Sketch Challenge 520 (at the top left) could be interpreted in a lot of fun ways.....I chose to use the sketch again but used a heart in the center instead of a circle. Today's Inspiration Challenge is to find a color combo from The Perfect Palette blog....I fell in love with these Homespun Colors....yummy!  The Ways to Use It Challenge is to create a Thank You card and the Friday Free 4 All Challenge is 'A CASE of admiration'....case a fellow stamper who encourages and inspires you. I chose this beautiful card by my ODBD design team sister, Cheryl Scrivens aka CherylQuilts. Cheryl is one of the sweetest human beings I have ever known and gives so much of herself to others. Her comments to all are so encouraging and wow, her creativity is inspiring in itself.  I am blessed to call her friend.....what an amazing Christian woman!!!  (Love you, Cheryl dear!!!)  For my card, I have used the ODBD Custom 'Ornate Hearts' Dies, corner dies from the ODBD Custom 'Ornate Borders and Flower' Dies, scripture verse from the 'Thank You' stamp set, and 'lots of hugs' stamp from the 'Mini Tag Sentiments' set, paper from the 'Heart and Soul Paper Collection', all from Our Daily Bread designs.

Anchor the Soul

Splitcoast Sketch Challenge SC518
Happy Hump Day, everyone!! Today's Sketch Challenge and yesterday's Color Challenge (Pool Party, Crumb Cake, Chocolate Chip) over at Splitcoast forced me to stamp this morning before work....teehee!!!! The image (and little anchor) from 'Anchor the Soul' (by Our Daily Bread designs) were inked in Pool Party, thumped with a Crumb Cake Marker, stamped onto ivory cardstock, edges sponged, then paper pierced. The little tag was cut from the ODBD Custom Mini Tags Dies set and tied onto the panel with baker's twine.

God is Good All The Time!

Splitcoast Stampers Sketch Challenge 511
Hey, everyone!!! Eeek, I haven't stamped in over a week.....I was going through withdrawal!! I'm behind on my birthday list, so I had to get back into the groove, especially when I saw the Sketch Challenge at Splitcoast.  This is a birthday card for my nephew who loves the color red. I LOVE this sentiment....I may wear out this stamp!! Both the clock and sentiment are from 'God's Timing' from Our Daily Bread designs and the dies I used are from two coordinating sets, ODBD Custom Matting Circles Dies and ODBD Circle Ornaments Dies.

Sand In Your Shoes

Hi, everyone! I stayed out of my stamp room for a couple of days to recover from DTGD week, but today's Sketch Challenge at Splitcoast was one I couldn't resist! I love when I can do a challenge before work...yay!! The sand dollar and sentiment are from 'Ocean Treasures' by Our Daily Bread designs. The card base is Naturals White, the two torn pieces are Sahara Sand, and the sand dollar was stamped on a scrap from my trash pile. I had previously tried to dry emboss with the ODBD Daisy Chain Background die and used the wrong sandwich so it didn't turn out like I wanted it. So, today, I spotted it and stamped the sand dollar on it, sponged it with blush and sand, then spritzed it with Pearl Glimmer Mist. The photo does not show the texture or shimmer, but it's really pretty in the real.

Life is Better in Flip Flops

Splitcoast Sketch 451
Hi there!!! This week is Sketch Challenge #500 over at Splitcoast....wow, 500!! The challenge is to choose a sketch from 400-499...I chose number 451 since I love CAS and I love banners. Instead of using designer paper for the banners, I stamped my own with 'Flip Flop Fun' and 'Life is Better' from Our Daily Bread designs, then colored each with sponge daubers in blue, blue-green, and green ink. To match the flip flop image, the card was embossed with a Polka Dot embossing folder. I will also be submitting this to five Dare to Get Dirty Challenges. I don't know if I will be able to complete all 49 challenges this week, but I'm definitely making a dent so far....yay!!!

Hope Anchors the Soul

Splitcoast Stampers Sketch 499
Hello there!! I'm back with another Sneak Peek.....can't get enough of the new stamps from Our Daily Bread designs!!! This card features the new "Anchor for the Soul" set, which will be available on August 1st....only two sleeps away!! :)

I used the Sketch Challenge from Splitcoast for the layout.  The image was stamped in Stazon Jet Black, then colored with markers and sponges.  I cut out a mask to cover the image while I sponged the background scene over pieces of scratch paper.  For the #2 panel, I cut a piece of burlap ribbon in half, frayed the edges, then used the leftover strings to stretch across the image and tie in the button.  This is a birthday card for a co-worker....his fave color is navy blue, so I designed the card around that.

I will be submitting this to the ODBD Shining the Light Challenge, for sponging or stenciling....you still have a few more days to enter!!!

I'll probably see you again tomorrow with one more sneak peek before the release on Friday!!!

Three Challenge Combo Cards!

Happy Saturday, everyone!!! Today's Inspiration Challenge over at Splitcoast is to find inspiration from the Leif Shop......I loved the colors of this phone case.  The background of my card was stamped with the smaller floral image from the ODBD Be Joyful set, then colored with markers.  Seeing the phone case with the camera cut-out inspired me to have a cut out as well, so I used a circle die to cut out a section, then stamped the sentiment in the negative space.  I have also incorporated the Friday Free4All Challenge, which was to use a stamp repeatedly to create a background.

ODBD Be Joyful, Card Designer Angie Crockett

My second card was a work in process all week.....each day before work I would spend a few minutes on it and finally got it finished....whew!!  I combined the Color Challenge in which I chose Daffodil, Strawberry, and Olive (and the dessert option of  'summer', the Sketch Challenge, and the Ways To Use It Challenge which was to use dots.  The strip of designer paper is from the ODBD 'Blooming Garden Collection' and the stamps are from the ODBD set, 'Zinnia'.  The flowers were colored with sponge daubers in daffodil first, then strawberry in the centers.  The flowers and leaves were cut with the ODBD Custom Zinnia and Leaves Die set.

My third card today I made for the Queen for the Day Challenge.....congrats to Dianne Beans aka sarahebo....woo hoo!!!  I chose this adorable card to recreate using the ODBD Custom Pennants Die Set, the Pennant Swag Alphabet stamp set, and a brand new embossing folder (from Darice). The single letters for "have" were stamped one at a time, then cut out with a word window punch; the "fun" letters were stamped then punched out with a star punch. Using a paper piercer, I made holes at the top of each pennant, then sewed baker's twine through them. The colors for this card were inspired from another piece from the Leif Shop, this tea towel

Birthday Blessings

If you are looking for the ODBD July New Release post, please scroll down one post or click here.

Hi, everyone!! I'm loving the Sketch Challenge today over at Splitcoast....it was simple enough that I was able to make a card before leaving for work...yay!! I did flip the sketch to the side but tried to keep it as close as possible. This will be a birthday card for one of my nephews....he's past the "cutesie" style of cards so this one is a little more mature. The sentiment is from the ODBD set, "Special Boy" and the designer paper is also from Our Daily Bread designs, called "The Rustic Beauty Collection".

Thoughts of You

Hi, everyone! Today's Sketch Challenge over at Splitcoast is a CAS sketch....woo hoo! I had time to whip something up before work this morning!! The scrap piece of ODBD "Blushing Rose Collection" designer paper which I used a couple of days ago worked perfectly for this...I love when that happens!! The "Rose Bouquet", also from Our Daily Bread designs, was stamped in Stazon Timber Brown, then colored with markers and fussy cut with scissors and a craft knife, then adhered over the designer paper panel.  I would have popped the image up with foam tape, but loved the idea that I could mail this one without extra postage...yay!! :)

Sneak Peek - ODBD "Earth Verses"

Hi, everyone!  This is a super quick card I made for this week's Sketch Challenge over at Splitcoast.  This is not a normal card for me.....no paper piercing and no foam tape.....eek!!!!  I wanted to show how easy it is to create a card simply by using ODBD stamps along with their new beautiful designer paper, the "ODBD Christmas Paper Collection 2013".  Don't let the name fool you.....these gorgeous patterns can be used for many different projects.....as a matter of fact, I used the green gingham for a Thanksgiving card a couple of days ago!  Anyhoo.....I'm also using some brand new stamps too.....the sentiment panel and card base were both stamped by the "Vintage Pattern Mini 1" background stamp and the scripture verse is from "Earth Verses".....these will be available on Friday, November 1st.
