Celebrate Life

SplitcoastStampers.com Sketch Challenge 806
Hi, everyone! It's time for a new Sketch Challenge over at Splitcoast!!  I've been having fun digging into my older Stampin Up sets.....some of them haven't seen ink in over a decade.  The image I have used for this card is from 'Feathered Hope' and the sentiment is from 'So Many Sayings'.  I'm in love with Lemon Lime Twist plus I'm gaga over gingham, so I used a piece from the Gingham Gala paper pack.  The image was stamped with Stazon Jet Black, partially watercolored, partially colored with markers, and the sky was sponged.  The sentiment and mat were punched with the Word Window punch.  Coral baker's twine was used to match the coral ribbon in the image and some irridescent sequins were used as a finishing touch.

One of my Peeps!

Hi, everyone!  After creating my last barnyard card, I had some 'parts and pieces' laying on my desk from the 'Barn Dies' set from Divinity Designs and I envisioned a chicken!  I grabbed some red and orange scraps, cut the comb with the hay die and the beak is the cut-out piece from the barn door....if you can't visualize it, take a look at the die set HERE.  The two panels were cut out with the Double Stitched Squares Dies, the sentiment is from 'Hogs and Kisses', and the gingham bow was tied with a Bow Easy.  I was so happy to find a large googlie eye in my eyeball stash!!

Polished Stone Stencil Lift

Hi, everyone!  Today I would like to share a card which was inspired by my new navy blue gingham ribbon!  I dug through my folder of alcohol ink panels and found one on which I used eggplant and navy inks with the polished stone technique.  I then used the Damask Mixed Media Stencil and sponged Alcohol Lift Ink to create the flourished background.  Once the panel was done, it was trimmed down with the Pierced Rectangles Dies, matted in white, ribbon added (bow tied with a Bow Easy), then adhered the panel to an eggplant card.  The 'Long and Lean Letters' were cut from navy and white and glued to the background panel.  Since the alcohol ink panel was already done, this card didn't take long to come together....I love when that happens!!

Pooh Bear Name-frame Gift and Card

Hi, everyone!  Today I would like to share a card and name-frame created back in November for a new little bundle of joy in our family, our new niece, Molly!  In order to match Molly's nursery, since I do not own any Pooh stamps, for both the card and nameframe, I fussy cut the Pooh characters out of some scrapbook paper.  For the card, I started by cutting out the pink panel with the ODBD Custom Double Stitched Rectangles Dies, then cut out the circles with the ODBD Custom Double Stitched Circles Dies.  The sentiment is from the 'Pennant Flag Verses' set; the sentiment and mat, along with the pennants at the top were cut out with the ODBD Custom Pennant Flags Dies and ODBD Custom Double Stitched Pennant Flags Dies.  Peeking through the circle cut-outs is a panel which was stamped with the ODBD 'Gingham Background' stamp; the white mat at the bottom was cut out with the ODBD Custom Pierced Rectangles Dies set.  The tiny hearts are from the ODBD Custom Umbrellas Dies set.

For the frame, Pooh scrapbook paper was used for the background and the fun image.  The following items from Our Daily Bread designs were also used:  ODBD Custom Double Stitched Pennants Flags Dies, ODBD Custom Pennant Flags Dies, ODBD Custom Alphabet Dies, ODBD Custom Pierced Rectangles Dies, ODBD Custom Clouds and Raindrops Dies (sponged clouds), ODBD Custom Grass Hill Die, ODBD Custom Fence Die, ODBD 'Little Girls' stamp set (sentiment).

Polka Dot Posies for My Friend

Hi, everyone!  When you subscribe to the Fan Club at Splitcoast Stampers, there are monthly challenges and special events throughout the year in which you may participate.  My card today will be submitted to a couple of the monthly challenges.  For my card, I dusted off an old Stampin Up set, called Polka-Dot Posies since it fit so well with the Fan Club Inspiration challenge which included red, black, polka dots, and more.  The flower was stamped in red, overstamped the flower center in black, then fussy cut and popped up over the background which was stamped several times with the sentiment stamp then dry embossed with a polka dot folder.  Gingham ribbon, red button, and paper piercing were added for embellishments.

Spring Daffodils

Splitcoast Sketch Challenge 582
Hi, everyone!  I'm excited and honored to announce that I will be a part of the Sketch Challenge team for three months over at Splitcoast!!!  My sample below fits Sketch 582 shown at the left.....you can make it as layered or as simple as you wish.  I am happy that I was able to keep my card fairly simple....my brain likes things more simple these days! :)

I started out with the 'Daffodils' set by North Coast Creations (sister company to Our Daily Bread designs), then added the yellow and green layers stamped with the ODBD 'Gingham Background'.  The dies I used are as follows:  ODBD Custom Fence Die, ODBD Custom Double Stitched Circles Dies, ODBD Custom Double Stitched Squares Dies, ODBD Custom Double Stitched Rectangles Dies, and the ODBD Custom Clouds and Raindrops Dies (template to sponge clouds).  I wasn't up for the challenge of doing the 'out-of-the-box' technique for the daffodils, so I went the lazy route and stamped an extra daffodil for each side, cut them out, and glued them on.

Spring Wishing Well

Hello, everyone! This week's Ways To Use It Challenge at Splitcoast is to share what your little piece of the world is all about. I live in farm country....it's 'mostly' quiet except for when the four-wheelers come out to play or the cows next door get a little 'randy'! lol!!! My card today is very green, which is what my neighborhood will look like come spring! For my card today, I used the 'Wishing Well' set by Our Daily Bread designs, along with the Gingham Background stamp, ODBD Custom Double Stitched Circles Dies, ODBD Custom Double Stitched Rectangles Dies, and ODBD Custom Clouds and Raindrops (for sponging clouds).

Palomino Beauties

Hi, everyone!  This week's Featured Stamper over at Splitcoast is Cheri aka cburry....congrats, Cheri!!  I chose this fun card to recreate...loved the simple layout and I'm a sucker for a cloud background!  For my card, the horse image from Saddle Up (by Our Daily Bread designs) was stamped onto a white panel and again on a small piece of white cardstock in order to fussy cut the image and pop it up for dimension.  The flowers were colored, then clear-coated using a Glaze Pen.  Once the glaze was dry, using masking, the grassy area was sponged in green (the glaze resisted the green ink); the clouds were sponged in aqua over a template created with the ODBD Custom Clouds and Raindrops Dies set. The same glaze resist technique was used on the horses' manes, tails, and other white portions; once the clear glaze was dry, caramel ink was sponged to create the Palomino look.

My first sample features the new 'Beauty' set, along with the ODBD Custom 'Vintage Flourish Pattern' Dies, the ODBD Custom 'Vintage Labels' Dies, and a pre-printed sentiment from the ODBD 'Chalkboard' Paper Collection.  The lily image from 'Beauty' was stamped three times, then different portions were cut out and popped up for dimension, including each stamen.  The white layer peeking through was stamped with the lily image with marigold ink.  To coordinate with the black ribbon and framing, I chose to cut out one of the sentiments from the 'Chalkboard Collection' using the smallest die from the ODBD Custom 'Vintage Flourish Pattern' Dies and matted with the ODBD Custom 'Vintage Labels' Dies.

My second card features the new 'Plant a Garden' set, along with the 'Gingham Background' stamp, ODBD Custom 'Clouds and Raindrops' Dies, and the ODBD Custom 'Fence' Die.  Nothing fancy with this one....the Gingham Background was used on the sky and grass, the veggie basket (and extra carrots) from 'Plant a Garden' were fussy cut, then the basket was popped up with foam tape over a small piece of burlap.

Bee Happy and Thank You, Friend!

Splitcoast Sketch Challenge 520
Hi, everyone!!  This week over at Splitcoast, there were quite a few fun challenges which I did not want to miss, so I have combined them in the making of a birthday card for my sister-in-law, plus a card for a dear friend who is having some health issues.
For my first card, I have used Sketch Challenge 520, plus this week's Color Challenge of Black, White, and Hello Honey.  Since I do not have  the newest SU colors yet, I used So Saffron which was the closest color I had on hand. The background was stamped with the ODBD Gingham Background stamp, the image from 'Bee Happy' was stamped in So Saffron, then the scripture was overstamped in black. The little bee, also from 'Bee Happy', was stamped, colored, then cut out with the ODBD Custom 'Zinnia and Leaves' Dies set.

The Sketch Challenge 520 (at the top left) could be interpreted in a lot of fun ways.....I chose to use the sketch again but used a heart in the center instead of a circle. Today's Inspiration Challenge is to find a color combo from The Perfect Palette blog....I fell in love with these Homespun Colors....yummy!  The Ways to Use It Challenge is to create a Thank You card and the Friday Free 4 All Challenge is 'A CASE of admiration'....case a fellow stamper who encourages and inspires you. I chose this beautiful card by my ODBD design team sister, Cheryl Scrivens aka CherylQuilts. Cheryl is one of the sweetest human beings I have ever known and gives so much of herself to others. Her comments to all are so encouraging and wow, her creativity is inspiring in itself.  I am blessed to call her friend.....what an amazing Christian woman!!!  (Love you, Cheryl dear!!!)  For my card, I have used the ODBD Custom 'Ornate Hearts' Dies, corner dies from the ODBD Custom 'Ornate Borders and Flower' Dies, scripture verse from the 'Thank You' stamp set, and 'lots of hugs' stamp from the 'Mini Tag Sentiments' set, paper from the 'Heart and Soul Paper Collection', all from Our Daily Bread designs.

Inspired Birthday Doily

Hi, everyone!!  It's the weekend.....woo hoo!!!  Today I would like to share a birthday card created for my niece, using two challenges from Splitcoast.  Today's Inspiration Challenge is to find inspiration from one of the photos from the {more} Sprinkled Joy Etsy store,  ......I loved the fresh colors of these straws.  The card design was inspired from this week's Queen for the Day, TrishG.....I fell in love with this gorgeous card and had to try my hand at recreating it! I used the Birthday Doily set (inked the stamp with markers, then spritzed before stamping) and Gingham Background, both from Our Daily Bread designs.

Framed Aster

Happy Monday!! Today's Clean and Simple Challenge over at Splitcoast is to use your "Little Ribbon Scraps".....I immediately thought of some celery grosgrain in my stash....have about 20 2-inch pieces leftover from a mass project several years ago, so I was happy to build a card around one of those pieces which I cut into two leaves. I used two square dies to create a frame which was popped up over a square panel stamped in celery with the Gingham Background from Our Daily Bread designs. The flower was cut from the ODBD Custom Asters and Leaves Die set, sponged in daffodil. The sentiment is from the "Rose" set, also from ODBD, cut out with an oval punch.

Ladybug Birthday Card

Happy Friday!!  Today's Friday Free 4 All Challenge over at Splitcoast is to use circles on your project.  I made a super quick birthday card using the ladybug images from the "Zinnia" set by Our Daily Bread designs, cut out with the ODBD Custom Zinnia and Leaves Die Set.  The sentiment is from the "Quote Collection 4" set, also by ODBD.  The largest circles were stamped with the ODBD Gingham Background.  The basic card design is based on this beautiful card by Diane aka fionna51 who is our brand new Queen for the Day.....congrats, Diane!  I forgot to leave a space for some baker's twine, so I decided to leave it as is and not try to pry the circles back up....that never ends well for me! :)

Jar of Jellybeans

Hi, everyone!  This week's Clean and Simple Challenge over at Splitcoast Stampers is to choose a card from Jen's gallery (Miss Boo) and recreate it in a CAS fashion.  I chose this beautiful card from her gallery....I loved the colors, the polka dots, the corner punch, and perfect paper piercing.  My card did not end up as CAS as originally planned, but here it is!

ODBD Gingham Background, Canning Jars and custom dies, Canning Jar Fillers 2, Little Girls (sentiment), ODBD Ornate Borders and Flower Die Set (corner), Card Designer Angie Crockett

I have used several stamp sets and dies from Our Daily Bread designs in the making of this card.  The largest jar from the "Canning Jars" set was stamped and cut out with the ODBD Custom Canning Jars Die Set, the "jellybeans" are from the "Canning Jar Fillers 2" set (these are actually regular beans, but I colored them red and coated them with Glossy Accents).  The jar cover, banner, and corner embellishment (cut out with the Ornate Borders and Flower Die Set) were all stamped with the Gingham Background. The sentiment is from the "Little Girls" set.

Thanks for visiting with me today!  Come on back first thing in the morning for the ODBD January New Releases!!!!  Yay!!!

Have a safe and blessed New Year!!

Punch Art Froggie Birthday

Hi, everyone!  Today's Inspiration Challenge over at Splitcoast is to find an item from Michael Kors.....I used this gorgeous green purse with brown leather tassles as inspiration for my card today.  My sister-in-law requested a frog themed birthday card this year.....when I saw the green  bag, I knew that today was the day to make her card!  Instead of using the same ole frog stamps I usually use, I decided to create my own frog out of punches and die cuts.  I used scratch paper and different dies and punches for trial and error until I found the right combination, then cut the pieces out of cardstock. I used the Gingham Background and Ornate Border Sentiments, both from Our Daily Bread designs.

Clean and Simple "Happy Thanksgiving"

Hi, everyone! Today's Clean and Simple Challenge over at Splitcoast is to use Tearing and/or Distressing on your CAS card. I chose to use sponging/ink distressing on the edges.

This is a clean and simple card which I made in under an hour, which is fast for me! The SU Barely Banana cardstock was embossed with an SU embossing folder, edges sponged in Early Espresso, layered on a white mat, and popped up over a Cajun Craze card. The leaves and sentiment are both from a yard sale and are not marked with a company name....so sorry! The gingham ribbon is from Michael's.

Thanks for visiting today!  Stay tuned tomorrow.....I will have a sneak peek of the November sets by Our Daily Bread designs!!

Fall Flower Pumpkin

Hi, everyone!  Happy Saturday....woo hoo!!!  Today's Inspiration Challenge over at Splitcoast is to find a photo from South House Designs for inspiration for your project.  The orange bridesmaid dresses at this Farmers Market Wedding really knocked me out......I had never seen a wedding with these colors before!!!  I used the green gingham pattern from the new Our Daily Bread designs "Christmas Paper Collection 2013" 6x6 pack since it had a country feel to it, plus the "Fall Flower Pumpkin" and custom "Pumpkin and Flowers Die" to cut it out.  The sentiment is from "Thankful Song".
