Celebrate Life

Hi, everyone!  This week's Featured Stamper over at Splitcoast is Maura Hibbitts aka onecraftstamper....congrats, Maura!  Maura's gallery is chock full of cool techniques, mixed media, and my fave.....alcohol inks!!!  I chose this card to case today because of the AI background and cute sentiment banners.  The AI panel used for my card was actually created over a year ago while I was at my BFF's house, showing her how to use alcohol inks and lift ink.  The stamps I used for the lift are from Stampin Up but I do not know the name of the set.  I still had the 'So Many Sayings' set on my desk from yesterday's card, so I used it to create the three banners.

Polished Stone Stencil Lift

Hi, everyone!  Today I would like to share a card which was inspired by my new navy blue gingham ribbon!  I dug through my folder of alcohol ink panels and found one on which I used eggplant and navy inks with the polished stone technique.  I then used the Damask Mixed Media Stencil and sponged Alcohol Lift Ink to create the flourished background.  Once the panel was done, it was trimmed down with the Pierced Rectangles Dies, matted in white, ribbon added (bow tied with a Bow Easy), then adhered the panel to an eggplant card.  The 'Long and Lean Letters' were cut from navy and white and glued to the background panel.  Since the alcohol ink panel was already done, this card didn't take long to come together....I love when that happens!!

Faith, Hope, Love, and Alcohol Ink

Hi, everyone!  Today's Mixability Challenge is to incorporate Love/Hearts into our mixed media projects.  I've been playing with alcohol inks and Yupo paper all morning and came up with a design for today's challenge.  I began by inking a panel with two pinks and one purple alcohol ink....I worked it quite a bit with a little mixative until it became a pretty solid consistency since the 'Bookmarks - Faith, Hope, Love' stamps (by Divinity Designs) had a lot of flourishes which I didn't want to get lost.  Each stamp was inked one at a time with Alcohol Lift Ink and pressed onto the inked panel; a clean cloth dabbed the lift ink to reveal the ghosted images.  Once each was lifted, I stamped off onto a piece of cardstock which I will use for a project at another time.  When finished, the panel was cut into strips.  The Clean and Simple Challenge this week is 'Bands of Color'.....I'm hoping that the strips and diagonal swipes of purple count as bands, otherwise, the challenge police may come after me! :) To finish the card, pink baker's twine, white heart sequins and tiny pink pearls were added.  I will also be submitting this to the 'Love Is In The Air' Challenge over at the Card Concept Blog.

Snowflake Hugs Times Two!

Hi, everyone! This week's Featured Stamper over at Splitcoast is Victoria aka Hawaiian....congrats, Victoria! When I saw this gorgeous card in Victoria's gallery, it looked like something I could try to recreate with Alcohol Inks and Lift Ink. I began by covering a piece of Yupo paper with pink, purple, and teal alcohol inks.  The sentiment and snowflakes from the SU set 'Beautiful Blizzard' were then inked with Alcohol Lift Ink, stamped onto the Yupo panel and then stamped onto a piece of white cardstock.  (Lifting and stamping the snowflakes was not difficult, however, the stamp has to be cleaned each time.)  Once the two panels were finished, they were trimmed, matted, then the cards were finished with Dazzling Diamonds glitter glue (which did not show up in the photographs...grrr!).

This week's Clean and Simple Challenge is 'December Birthdays'.  The card below, with the  snowflakes and sentiment lifted from the alcohol ink panel in the card above, fits this challenge perfectly.  Both my sister-in-law and her daughter are Christmas babies, so snowflakes are perfect without being 'Christmas-y'.

Old Rugged Cross Autumn Collage

Hi, everyone!  This week's Inspiration Challenge over at Splitcoast is to find inspiration from Christmas Central.....I chose this gorgeous fall table cover with colorful leaves and red border.  'The Old Rugged Cross' background was stamped in black onto ivory cardstock; after tearing the edges, the panel was sponged with caramel and distressed with espresso brown.  The leaves from 'Autumn Blessings' were stamped over the hymn after lifting the colors with Alcohol Lift Ink from a Yupo panel which was inked with multiple alcohol inks.  Three of the 'ghosted' leaves were cut out with the ODBD Custom Fall Leaves and Acorn Dies.

You Make Me Happy!

Hi, everyone! For my card today, I have combined three challenges from Splitcoast Stampers....this week's Color Challenge of Cherry Cobbler, Blueberry Bushel and Bermuda Bay (dessert option of sparkle...I painted the images with Glimmer Mist after water-coloring them), this week's Sketch Challenge, plus the October Fan Club Central Theme Challenge since I have used a mermaid.  I began by adding red, blue, and aqua alcohol inks onto Yupo paper and blended them together.  The ODBD 'Chalkboard Fan' Background stamp was inked with Alcohol Lift Ink, stamped onto the yupo panel to lift the colors, then stamped onto white cardstock.  Once the ink was transferred, the cardstock panel was cut out with the ODBD Custom Pierced Rectangles Dies.  The stamps I used are from 'Happy Days Mermaids' from Your Next Stamp, which I won during the Dare To Get Dirty Challenges.  After stamping the images and cutting them out with the custom dies, I tried something new (and not easy) and water-colored with rubbing alcohol and the same alcohol inks I used on the background panel.  Since alcohol inks are permanent, they dry immediately and they are hard to blend as in normal water-coloring.
