Have a Purrr-fect Day!

Hi, everyone!  I have used this week's Sketch Challenge over at Splitcoast to help in creating a birthday card for my great niece, Kynna, who will be two this week.  The challenge police may come after me since the main panel does not go all of the way across.  For my card, the kitty from 'The Cat's Meow' was stamped on white with Stazon Jet Black; the eyes, ears, and nose were colored with markers then coated with a clear glaze pen.  The fur was then colored with a sponge dauber and ink; I do not have the custom die for this set, so I had to fussy cut it.  The bow was stamped separately, fussy cut, then paper-pieced onto the kitty.  The following custom dies from ODBD were also used: Birthday Balloons, Numbers, Fence, Grass Hill, Double Stitched Pennant Flags, Double Stitched Rectangles, Clouds and Raindrops (cloud stencil). Pink baker's twine was used to 'tie' the balloons to the fence.

Let Your Dreams Set Sail

Happy Saturday, everyone!  This week's Inspiration Challenge over at Splitcoast is to choose one of the color schemes from 100 Brilliant Color Combinations.....I loved the colors of number 33, Fun and Tropical.  These colors were perfect for a sailboat and sunset scene.  For my card, I started with the North Coast Creations set, 'Sail Away'; the image and sentiment were stamped on a white rectangle cut out with the ODBD Custom 'Double Stitched Rectangles' Dies, matted with the ODBD Custom 'Rectangles' Dies.  The clouds, boat, sails, and touches of waves were coated with a clear glaze pen, which acted as a resist as I sponged the background colors.  I left the white rectangle panel inside of the die while sponging to protect the white edge.  Paper piercing was added at the last......I messed up and had to fix it by piercing a double row, then added faux stitching.  This card is proof that I should not stamp when I'm under the weather! ;) The card base was stamped with the ODBD 'Fishing Net Background' stamp. Baker's twine was added as the only embellishment.
