From the Bottom of my Heart

Hi, everyone!  I'm loving the CAS (clean and simple) Sketch Challenge this week over at Splitcoast!  A perfect way to share a sneak peek of some new goodies from Divinity Designs LLC (available January 1st).  The four designer paper patterns are all from the 'Happy Hearts' Paper Pad; the sentiment is from 'Thank You' clear stamps, cut out with the largest of the Sentiment Strips 2 Dies.  The large Thank You was cut out with the 'Thank You' Dies and the tiny hearts are from the 'Heart Clay Sprinkles'.....part of the Shaker Supplies line.  The paper strips were adhered together and cut out with the largest of the Pierced Rectangles Dies.  Paper Piercing and 'Faux Stitching' was used since I am NOT good at sewing on paper....eek, what a nightmare! lol!!  The panel was framed with the Matting Rectangle Die and the pink card base was cut out with the A2 Portrait Card Base with Layer Dies.

New Year Mandala

Hi, everyone!  This week's Featured Stamper over at Splitcoast is Ina aka yellowrose46...congrats, Ina!!!  I chose this beautiful Iris Fold card with the irridescent stars as inspiration for my card today.  I didn't have any irridescent  paper, so I used blue and silver mirror paper. The background paper is from the Shine Bright Paper Pad and here are the dies used for this card from Divinity Designs LLC: Mandala Layering Combo, Snow Crystals, Christmas Dove, Matting Rectangle, Rectangles, A2 Portrait Card Base with Layer, and Holiday Words

Snowbirds

Hi, everyone!  For my card today, I have combined Splitcoast's Color Challenge (Sea Foam, Pear, Peacock) with the Sketch Challenge.  The cute birdies and sentiment are from the Snowbirds Stamp/Die Duos set by Divinity Designs LLC.  The snowflake panel and mat are from the Snowflake Sky Dies set; the foliage is from the 'Pinecones and Pine Branches' Dies set. Other dies used are the Sentiment Strips with Layers Dies, Matting Rectangle, and A2 Portrait Card Base with Layer Dies.  Though the camera does not show it, the snowflake background and sentiment panel are white shimmer paper....looks really pretty in the real.

Dunnuh...Dunnuh...Dunnuh....Shark!!

Hi, everyone!  This week's Sketch Challenge over at Splitcoast gives us all a chance to show how creative our imagination can be!  At first glance, I flipped the sketch upward and thought of a space ship.....THEN I showed it to my hubby and he said, "Well, it's a shark!" I laughed out loud and told him he was a genius and that I was going to do it.....not sure how, but I was gonna make it happen!!  So, using various dies and stamps, masking and sponging, the scene slowly came to life!  Here is a list of items used to create this silly scene:

Stamps: the tiny cake is from 'Recipe Card Icons' from Divinity Designs; the 'Palm Trees' are from DMD; the sentiment is from 'Twice the Wishes' by My Favorite Things.  Dies: from Divinity Designs LLC, Pierced Rectangles, Circles, Matting Rectangle, A2 Portrait Card Base with Layer; the nostrils are actually commas cut from the Alphabet Caps Dies.

The teeth were fussy cut after cutting a circle within another circle, then cutting the teeth from the inside opening with scissors.  The waves on the sentiment panel were cut with scalloped scissors.

Thanks so much for looking!

"I Love Mew" Double Dutch Fold

Hi, everyone!  This week's Sketch Challenge over at Splitcoast was designed around the fun fold known as the Double Dutch Fold.  I have never tried one of these before...it took a little while longer to decorate the extra panels but I love how it turned out!  This is a birthday card for my little niece who just turned one.  The stamps on the front are from the 'Purr-fect' set by My Favorite Things, the sentiments on the inside are from 'Cocktail Mixer' by Newton's Nook.  All of the dies shown are from Divinity Designs LLC: Grass Lawn, Clouds and Raindrops, Double Stitched Squares, Squares, and Double Stitched Rectangles. The small images were colored with markers and the kitty was sponged with wisteria and gray inks using reverse masking. (Before sponging the kitty, her nose and ears were colored with a pink marker, then coated with a clear glaze pen.)  The clouds in the background were sponged over a template created with the same cloud die set.

This is a view of the inside, with the flaps open.

Birthday Cocktail

Hi, everyone!  This week' Sketch Challenge over at Splitcoast was absolutely perfect for creating a birthday card for my hubby.  His card request this year was for me to make a 'Bahama Mama' card (his fave tropical drink when we go on vacation!)  I had been searching for a fun stamp set to buy and found this 'Cocktail Mixer' set by Newton's Nook.  The image was stamped with Stazon Jet Black; everything except for the liquid was colored with markers, then sealed with a clear glaze pen; after the glaze was dry, I used sponges and inks to color in the cocktail.  The background panel was sponged with the same colors: Marigold Morning, Tangerine Tango, and Real Red.  The palm tree dies are from Top Dog Dies, who went out of business several years ago.  The water and clouds were also colored with sponges.  The small strip of designer paper is from the 'Weathered Wood' Paper Collection by Divinity Designs LLC.  Here are the additional items from Divinity Designs LLC: Pierced Rectangles Dies, Matting Rectangle Die, Pierced Circles Dies, Circles Dies, A2 Portrait Card Base with Layer Dies.

Divinity Designs LLC December New Release

Hi, everyone!  Welcome to the December new release party for Divinity Designs LLC!  Check out the entire release plus some amazing designer samples HERE!

Here are the new items featured in my three samples for today.....please click the links in the descriptions for the previously released items:

My first card features the new 'Snowbirds' Stamp/Die Duos set (LOVE THESE BIRDIES!)  I was super excited that the birds were the right size to fit in the pockets from the Fishing and Hunting Vest Dies set!  The card base (and shirt) were cut with the Couture Collection Dies.  The buffalo plaid paper is from the 'Menswear Material' Collection.  The sentiment was framed and matted with the Rectangles Dies and Double Stitched Rectangles Dies set. A clear glaze pen was used to coat the zipper, snaps, and the birdies' eyes.

My second sample is a slimline design which features the adorable 'Beary Christmas' Stamp/Die Duos set and the new Slimline Cubes Background Die.  I began by using the Slimline Layering Rectangles Dies to cut a panel out of the Serenity Snowflakes Slimline Paper Pad.  The cube background was cut twice, once with the plum cardstock and again with shimmery white cardstock, so that I could insert shimmery snowflake shapes within the cube pattern before popping up the frame with foam tape over the snowflake designer paper.  The Slimline Curvy Slopes Dies and Slimline Rectangles Dies were used with the shimmery white cardstock to cut out the snowy hillside.  An Oval Die was used to cut the skating pond and the Sentiment Strips Dies were used for the sentiment panels. The scene was matted with the Slimline Scalloped Rectangles Dies; the card base was cut with the Slimline Card Base Die.
My third sample features the new Mandala Layering Combo Dies, along with the following items: Stoneware Paper Pad, Circles Mixed Media Stencil (dry embossed), Pierced Circles Dies, Pierced Rectangles Dies, Deco Border Die, Inspiration Words Dies, Matting Rectangle, and A2 Portrait Card Base with Layer Dies.  For the center of the mandala, I used the smallest Circle Die (with the Stoneware paper) and the smallest Pierced Circle Die to create a decorative piece.  The top mandala layer was cut from black mirror paper which gives it a nice finished look.

Kick Up Your Heels!

Hi, everyone!  Just today I received my shipment of cardstock from Stampin Up and this adorable stamp set, Zany Zebras, was my free item of choice!  I just had to use it for this week's Sketch Challenge at Splitcoast! The images were fussy cut and popped up with foam tape; the misc polka dot paper and cardstock were pieced together and then cut with a Pierced Rectangle Die from Divinity Designs LLC.  The strip down the middle was cut using a Scalloped Rectangle Die and the same Pierced Rectangle Die.  The sentiment was cut out and matted with the Pennant Flags Dies and Double Stitched Pennant Flags Dies.  To coordinate with the scalloped strip, the main panel was matted with the Scalloped Rectangles Dies and Matting Rectangle, layered onto the card which was cut with the A2 Landscape Card Base with Layer Dies.  This card is for my niece's birthday this week, hence the pink hats and pink baker's twine.

Celebrate Your Blessings

Hi, everyone!  This week's Ways to Use It Challenge over at Splitcoast is 'Lots of Dots'....though my card is not polka-dotted, my designer paper has lots of dots on the flowers and background.  For quilt cards, I always use my Xyron Sticker Maker....cut a piece of cardstock to the size of the quilt die frame, create a sticker out of it, add the die cut frame first and then insert the pieces.....no messy glue...easy!!  Here are the items from Divinity Designs LLC which were used for this card:

Stamps: Birthday Blooms Stamp/Die Duos and Let's Celebrate
Paper: Stoneware Paper Pad
Dies: Floating Frame Front (for the sentiment), A2 Landscape Card Base with Layer, Matting Rectangle, Quilted Background

Some pretty irridescent blue sequins were added to coordinate with the paper and blue flower.

Warm Winter Wishes

Hi, everyone!  We have another fun Sketch Challenge for you this week over at Splitcoast!!  For my sample, I have used the 'Snowman and Friends' set by Divinity Designs LLC, along with the following items: Rustic Christmas Slimline Paper Pad and custom dies: Pierced Circles, Pierced Rectangles, Matting Rectangle, A2 Portrait Card Base with Layer, Icicle Border and Treat Tags.  I took a piece of wide burlap ribbon, cut the stitching off of both sides, then cut it in half length-wise.  (Call me silly, but I enjoy pulling the outer strings to cause the frayed edges!) Some irridescent white sequins and Stickles were added for a little sparkle.

Seek Me With All Your Heart

Hi, everyone! For this week's Sketch Challenge over at Splitcoast, we get 'imaginary' bonus points for creating a pocket card.....I haven't made one of these in over a decade!!!  For my sample, the card base is an upside down A2 card, with a flap scored and folded down for the front.  Only the edges are adhered inside so that you can insert the inner panel/tag.  For my card, I used the Birch Background Die from Divinity Designs LLC, cut it down to size with the Pierced Rectangles Dies, then used a paper cutter to separate the pieces for the front and the folded flap.  A white gel pen highlighted all of the embossed parts which are usually stenciled with ink. It took a while to color them all, but I like how it turned out.  For the small sentiment on the front and the inside tag, I used the 'Seek Me' set.  Other dies used: Pierced Circles, Circles, Large Banners, and A2 Portrait Card Base with Layer. Another white banner panel was adhered to the back of the tag for a birthday sentiment and personal message.

Anniversary Fireworks!

Hi, everyone! This week's Ways To Use It Challenge over at Splitcoast is to use a silhouette on your project.  My card today was created for my in-laws' anniversary, using some goodies from Divinity Designs LLC.  The eggplant frame was cut out with the Pierced Frames Dies; the sentiment from 'Lovely Day' was cut out with the Sentiment Strips with Layers Dies.  The silhouettes were cut with the Park Silhouettes Dies (coated with a clear glaze pen and glitter pen on the light.) The cool fireworks designer paper is from the Landscapes Paper Pad.

Woohoo, It's Your Birthday!

Hi, everyone!  This week's Sketch Challenge over at Splitcoast could be interpreted many different ways.  I chose to cut out a window from the front of my card with the Floating Frame Front Dies set by Divinity Designs LLC.  The fun balloons and sentiments are from 'Wonky Wishes' which was part of the July Blessings Box (subscription).  Some of the balloons were sponged and others were paper-pieced with the same designer paper from the Geometric (6x9) Paper Pad.  On the inside, I used several of the sentiment stamps to create the message.  The sentiment on the front was cut out and matted with the Sentiment Strips with Layers Dies (from the April Blessings Box.) Yellow sequins were added here and there to bring out the yellow and orange tones in the paper.  Additional dies: Matting Rectangle and A2 Portrait Card Base with Layer.

This is a close up of the inside panel (cut out with the Double Stitched Rectangles Dies.)

Divinity Designs LLC November New Release!

Hi, everyone!  Wow, it's time for another new release from Divinity Designs LLC!  Seems like just yesterday is was summer and now we're working on winter projects!!  To see all of the beautiful new stamps and dies, plus some amazing designer samples, visit the Divinity Designs LLC Blog.

Below are the new items I have featured in my card samples for today:

My first card is a shaker card created with the new Snowman and Friends Stamp/Die Duos set, along with the Serenity Snowflakes Slimline Paper Pad, and the following dies: Snow Globe, Christmas Dove (snowflakes), Scalloped Rectangles, Pierced Rectangles, Matting Rectangle, A2 Portrait Card Base with Layer, Scalloped Ovals, Pierced Ovals, and Ovals. The snow globe was cut from silver mirror paper; the outer edge of the die cut was used to trace onto the designer paper on which the snowman was stamped.  This created the backing for the shaker.  The snow inside is white Flower Soft sprinkles.

My second card features the new Birch Background Die, along with the 'All is Calm' Stamp/Die Duos set which was released last month. The Birch BG Die is the same size as the largest die in the Pierced Rectangles Dies set, so I cut a white panel, sponged yellow in the center and navy around the edges. The birch panel was cut with white, stenciled with gray, then popped up with foam tape over the sponged panel; the navy mat was cut with the Matting Rectangle Die and the gray card was cut with the A2 Landscape Card Base with Layer Dies set. The Large Banners Dies set was used for the sentiment, also sponged with yellow. The fawn was water-colored; the foliage and pinecones were colored with markers. Navy baker's twine was used as a finishing touch.
Thanks so much for hanging out with us today!
