Clean and Simple Thanksgiving

Hi, everyone!  Today's Clean and Simple Challenge over at Splitcoast is 'State Fair Inspiration'.   I fussy cut and popped up half of the scene from the new 'Autumn Tree' image (available Oct 1st) from Our Daily Bread designs to give the pumpkins and gourds more attention and so that the rake could lean against the die-cut ODBD Fence. I will also be submitting this to the ODBD "Fall-Inspired" Shining the Light Challenge.

Autumn Tree - ODBD Sneak Peek

Hi, everyone!  Today's Featured Stamper over at Splitcoast is Jacquie Southas aka Jacquie J...congrats, Jacquie!!  I chose this adorable scenic card to case today, using an upcoming set from Our Daily Bread designs, called 'Autumn Tree' (available Oct 1st).  The image was fussy cut and popped up over the scene created with a Memory Box die and sponging.  The image was fussy cut and popped up with foam tape over the layered die cut background scene which was cut with a Memory Box die and sponged. (P.S. I added the initials to the tree for me and my honey!)  I will also be submitting this to the ODBD Shining the Light "Fall-Inspired" Challenge.

Good Friends Are Like Quilts

Happy Saturday!!!  Today's Inspiration Challenge over at Splitcoast is to find an item from the Christmas Tree Shop website for inspiration.  I fell in love with the soft colors of this quilt set and decided to use the "Quilts" stamp set, along with the 'Stitch Background' and ODBD Custom Doily Dies, all from Our Daily Bread designs.

Remembering With You

Happy Monday!  This week's Clean and Simple Challenge over at Splitcoast is an Alumni Featured Stamper Challenge.....we are to choose a  CAS card from Brenda aka tessaduck's awesome gallery.....I chose this beautiful card for inspiration to create this sympathy card for my boss who lost his father last week.  The calla lily image and sentiment from Loving Memories were stamped in Stazon Jet Black, then using a scratch paper mask over the calla lilly, light blue was sponged around it, then the image was colored with markers.

Birthday Doily for Featured Stamper

Hi, everyone!  This week at Splitcoast we are saying thank you to Bridget Finlay (aka bfinlay) who is stepping down from being a  Featured Stamper Challenge Hostess, so she is our honorary Featured Stamper this week.  I chose this wonderful card from her gallery to case, using the Birthday Doily set from Our Daily Bread designs.  I used a leaf stencil with green ink and a circle pattern stencil with blue, then stamped the doily image and sentiment.  Using an air-art tool and a green marker, little ink spritzes were added, then paper piercing, pearls, and baker's twine.

Amber Waves of Grain

Hi, everyone!!  Today's Ways To Use It Challenge over at Splitcoast is to use marble, granite, stone, etc. on your project.  I chose this paper (SU Naturals White) since it's speckled like concrete, plus I thought that 'amber waves of grain' would fit in with today's memorial of 9-11.  Using two pieces of scratch paper for masking, the orange and mustard sky was sponged (the 'clouds' were sponged over a torn piece of paper), then the wheat image from 'Our Daily Bread' (retired) was stamped.  The sentiment is from 'Serve the Lord'; both sets are from Our Daily Bread designs. Instead of using ribbon, I chose to paper pierce two rows in order for it to be flat.

Inspired Birthday Doily

Hi, everyone!!  It's the weekend.....woo hoo!!!  Today I would like to share a birthday card created for my niece, using two challenges from Splitcoast.  Today's Inspiration Challenge is to find inspiration from one of the photos from the {more} Sprinkled Joy Etsy store,  ......I loved the fresh colors of these straws.  The card design was inspired from this week's Queen for the Day, TrishG.....I fell in love with this gorgeous card and had to try my hand at recreating it! I used the Birthday Doily set (inked the stamp with markers, then spritzed before stamping) and Gingham Background, both from Our Daily Bread designs.

ODBD Custom Beautiful Borders Dies ODBD Ornate Hearts Dies

My first sample for today features the "Quilts" stamp set, ODBD Custom Beautiful Borders Dies, and the ODBD Custom Ornate Hearts Dies.  The quilt image was stamped in black, colored with purple/yellow/green/peach/pink markers, then the center was cut out with the 2nd smallest die in the ODBD Custom Ornate Hearts Dies set.  The heart was made into a five-layer button (see tutorial here).  The first two words of the sentiment were stamped on white, then cut out by hand and popped up with foam tape; the 'sew' word was stamped onto the card base through the heart opening (using scratch paper to mask each side).  The border frame was created by mitering four borders cut out with the ODBD Custom Beautiful Borders Dies, then sewing embroidery thread through the openings.

My next sample features the image and a sentiment from the "Sewing" set, along with the ODBD Custom Beautiful Borders Dies and ODBD Custom Ornate Hearts Dies once again.  The stitched border image and sentiment were stamped in black onto ivory cardstock, then matted with some aida cloth which was stitched with blue embroidery thread.  The plaid strip is from some scrap fabric which has been in my stash for many years. The heart die cut through the fabric easily; after adhering it to cardstock and cutting out the holes with a Cropodile, Glossy Accents was added.  The same thread used for the stitching was used in the button and also threaded through the border die cut.
