Happiness Always

Splitcoast Stampers Color Challenge 697
Hi, everyone!  This week's Color Challenge over at Splitcoast forced me to dust off one of my 'oldie but goodie' stamp sets from Stampin Up which hasn't been used in years, 'Sun Ripened'.  I was lucky enough to have a Berry Burst marker, but had to use Lucky Limeade for the leaves.  The raspberry image was stamped in Stazon Jet Black, then colored both with markers and watercolor.  A craft knife and paper snips were used to fussy cut the image before popping it up with foam tape over the Smoky Slate card base which was scored with a Scor-buddy.  The sentiment is from another older SU set, called 'Happy Harmony'.  I chose not to add embellishments so that it would stay very CAS.  I will also be submitting this card to the Less Is More 'Stripes' Challenge due to the multiple score lines.

Tropical Smile

Happy Monday, everyone!  This week's Clean and Simple Challenge over at Splitcoast is to create something tropical.  Since the 'Less is More' Challenge Blog theme is to use tangerine and olive, I decided to create an orange hibiscus card so that I could submit to both.  The following dies from ODBD were used to create this quick card: Inspiration Words, Hibiscus, and Tropical Leaves.  The white card base was scored with my Scor-buddy.  Since I used scoring, I will also submit to the Fan Club Central Theme challenge for July.

Tickled Pink

Hi, everyone!  I'm back with another card for the Featured Stamper Challenge over at Splitcoast.  Since my first card only took 10 minutes, I went back to Cindy's gallery for more CAS (clean and simple) inspiration to help me catch up on my birthday card list.  This time around I chose this super cute flamingo card for inspiration.  I used the 'Tickled Pink' set from Our Daily Bread designs.  The sentiment was masked so that each word could be stamped separately.  The sky was sponged over a template cut from the ODBD Custom Clouds and Raindrops Dies set; the 'water' was sponged over a piece of scratch paper; a white chalk marker dotted the top of the water line at the flamingo's feet.  This card is for a dear friend of mine who will be 88 years young this week (I swear she stopped aging at 70!)  I will be submitting this to the 'Less is More' Friendship Challenge as well.

Hello My Friend

Hi, everyone!  This week's Featured Stamper over at Splitcoast is Cindy aka cdk22968...congrats, Cindy!!  I fell in love with this awesome CAS design from Cindy's gallery.  I changed the stencil, color, and sentiment, plus I added three sequins. I do not know the name of the stencil, but the stamp is from 'Sentiments Collection 2' from ODBD.  I will also be submitting this card to the 'Less is More' Friendship Challenge this week.

Send Forth Your Light

Hi, everyone!  This week's challenge over at the "Less Is More" blog is to use candles or anything depicting light.  Since I needed to make a card for my Dad's birthday, I chose to use the "Light of Life" set by Our Daily Bread designs.  The kraft card base was cut out with the ODBD Custom Double Stitched Rounded Rectangles Dies.  The image was colored with markers and the edges were sponged for a little dimension.

Always Be There For You

Hi, everyone!  This week's Technique Lovers' Challenge is to create a quick, easy to duplicate, card for someone in need.  I have used the 'To My Friend' set by Our Daily Bread designs to create this quick, one layer card for a friend.  I chose royal blue and lime green so that I may also submit to the Less Is More color challenge.

Play Ball!

Stacked Baseball Lamp from Christmas Tree Shops
Hi, everyone!  This week's Inspiration Challenge over at Splitcoast is to find inspiration from the Christmas Tree Shops site....I chose this adorable baseball lamp for my inspiration.  The red stitching on the lampshade gave me the idea to use some hand-stitching on my card. The stamps I used today are from the 'Baseball' Stamp/Die Duos set; the 'baseball' was cut from the ODBD Custom Double Stitched Circles Dies, matted with the ODBD Custom Circles Dies; a die from the ODBD Custom Stitched Ovals Dies set was used to trace the outline for the stitches; a small paper piercer was used to pierce the holes; some red embroidery thread was used to sew the stitches. I will also be submitting this to the 'Less Is More' challenge which is to use something on your CAS card which you would not normally use.....my unusual item is embroidery thread and hand-stitching.

Follow Your Heart

Hi, everyone!  This week's Clean and Simple Challenge over at Splitcoast is all about 'Summertime'.  I created a summer scene with coral baker's twine and flowers.  The stamps are from the 'Happy Wedding Day' set by Our Daily Bread designs.  The first thing I did was used a die from the ODBD Custom Pierced Rectangles Dies set to emboss the card base.  While the die was still in place, the image was stamped, the planter was masked, then the grass and clouds were sponged inside the die only. Baker's twine was added for a simple embellishment to coordinate with the love-birds and flowers.

Rockin' Out With Elvis!

Hi, everyone!  This week's Featured Stamper over at Splitcoast is Kandie aka Kemernow....congrats, Kandie!!!  I fell in love with this beautiful silhouette card, with the turquoise background and simple layout.  I followed the same general design and colors, but went very CAS with my card.  I am an Elvis nut and love when I have the opportunity to use these fun stamps (from Crackerbox Palace) which I picked up at a stamp show a couple of years ago.  Instead of coloring the full background, I used a star stencil around the edges of the image which was inked in Stazon Jet Black and stamped three times in a row for the shadow effect. This is a birthday card for one of my nephews who I was tickled to hear also loves Elvis!!!!  I will also be submitting this card to the 'Less Is More' shadow challenge.

Butterfly Sunburst Hello!

Happy Saturday, everyone!  This week's Inspiration Challenge over at Splitcoast is to find inspiration from the Tim Holtz Mania Pinterest Board.....I chose this amazing card for my inspiration today. I couldn't find the stencil I wanted to use for this card, so instead I dry embossed and stenciled the ODBD Custom Sunburst Background Die.  The butterfly and its mat were cut out with the ODBD Custom Fancy Fritillary Dies set.  Ranger Antique Linen distress ink was used for both the butterfly and sunburst, then a little blackberry ink was added to the edges to match the ODBD Custom Hello Die and blackberry mat layer.  Irridescent Gold Glimmer Mist was heavily sprayed onto the background and butterfly and a gold metallic card base and gold sequins were used to coordinate with the shimmer.  Unfortunately, the photo did not turn out great, even after multiple shots.  It's very golden and shimmery in real life! I will also be submitting this to the "Less is More" (Use a Stencil) Challenge and the June Fan Club Central Theme at SCS (all about angles).

Clean and Simple Birthday Cake x 2

Happy Monday, everyone!  I have two cards to share with you today....one is the "Less is More" version and the other is "More is More" version, which is the same card but "ramped up" a bit!  The "More" version is based upon the Mojo Sketch for this week......I couldn't resist since it was a very simple design!  Today's Clean and Simple Challenge over at Splitcoast is "Cakes, Pies, and Desserts", so I used the "Cake Single" and birthday sentiment from "All Occasion Sentiments", both by Our Daily Bread designs.  I will also be submitting this to the "Less is More" challenge.....choose any previous challenge.....I chose the challenge from March 5th, to use pastel colors.
