Sneaky Peek for Our Daily Bread designs!

Happy Saturday, everyone! I'm so excited to have a sneak peek finished for the February sets by Our Daily Bread designs! Wait until you see the New Releases on Tuesday....perfect for masculine cards and more! I have used the "Stone Fish" single stamp along with the "Fish Embossing Plate". I inked up the embossing plate with Not Quite Navy ink so that the de-bossed images would be colored. The "Stone Fish" image was stamped in Not Quite Navy, cut out with paper snips and exacto knife, sponged with Ranger Antique Linen and SU Early Espresso ink, and popped up with foam tape over some May Arts Jute. Don't fall down from shock, but I actually did some distressing (ack!)....PLUS there is no paper piercing!! haha!

Here is a close-up of the "Stone Fish" image....I LOVE this stamp! (Can't wait to show you more later!)

I have used the following challenges in the making of this card:
Shining the Light Challenge by Our Daily Bread designs: "The Blues";
Clean and Simple Saturday Challenge at Christian Paper Crafts: dry embossing on your CAS card;
Inspiration Challenge at Splitcoast: this crib set from Rooms by Zoya B inspired me with the blue and cream colors;
AI Factory: For the boys;
Stamp Insanity: Create a peaceful project;
Tuesday Throwdown: Distressing;
Critter Challenge: Distressing and a circle (brads);
Oooh-la-la: 3 of a kind (3 crosses);

Christian Paper Crafts' Praise and Paper Night

Hi there! Just wanted to share a quick card I created last week for Christian Paper Crafts' very first "Praise and Paper Night"....a "virtual stamping" event which will take place the 3rd Thursday of each month. Please forgive me for not blogging about this ahead of time....was dealing with a migraine the whole week, but will definitely give ya'all heads up for February....mark your calendar for Thursday, February 17th. The night begins with prayer at 7pm EST and the first challenge will start promptly at 8. You have 45 minutes to complete each challenge, with a 15 minute break to clean up and get ready for the next challenge. You will have until Saturday noon to upload your projects in order to qualify for a prize!

Not a member to Christian Paper Crafts yet? No problem....it's fast and easy to sign up....the General Membership fee is only $9.95, which grants access to all of the challenges, forums, and general gallery. Please check out the different membership levels and detials HERE. Why a yearly subscription fee, you ask? First of all, it creates a safe and private environment for forum conversations and personal prayer requests, plus it takes care of all spammer problems for the site. However, if you would like to take part in the Bible Study or read the Devotionals, these are free to the public. Hope to see you there. It's a great investment, I promise!!!

This card I barely made under the 45 minute deadline....usually my cards take a couple of hours. Thanks to my sister-in-law, who gave me these adorable Stampin' Up rub-ons, plus this awesome sketch by Gloria, I was able to pull it off!

Card details:
Stamps: None!;
Paper: Stampin Up Pink Pirouette and Whisper White, SEI "With All My Heart";
Accessories: Bow Easy, May Arts Satin Ribbon, Dew Drops, Stampin' Up Rub-ons, paper piercer and template.

Thanks for stopping by today! God Bless!!

BVT90 Beautiful!

Hello, everyone! Better late than never, I would like to share a card which I made for last week's Bible Verse Thursday Challenge at Christian Paper Crafts....the theme was "Beautiful". (Card deets below.)

Speaking of Christian Paper Crafts....have you heard the news? The community site is now a Members Only site, in order to provide a safe environment for conversations, plus NO SPAMMERS! There are several levels of membership, with the lowest being $9.95 per year. So that I don't mess up, please see the details of the memberships HERE. If you would like to participate in the Bible study or read the Devotionals, that is still free to the public. All of the members and DT there are wonderful Christian ladies.....we would love to fellowship with you as well!!
Along with the Bible Verse Thursday Challenge, I have also used Gloria's awesome Sketch Tuesday Challenge from last week for the layout. Gloria provides a brand new sketch for us each Tuesday! Hope you decide to join us....we have challenges at Christian Paper Crafts every day except Sunday! Plus we have rotating Scrapbooking Challenges all month long as well......AND every third Thursday of the month is Praise and Paper Night.....a "virtual stamping night" full of fun!!
Card details: The background Cool Caribbean cardstock was embossed with Our Daily Bread designs' "Butterfly Embossing Plate" and I chose to use the de-bossed side for a more crisp image. The image panels were clear embossed using the "Faith" set and Ranger Clear Embossing Powder. Cool Caribbean and Chocolate Chip ink were then sponged over the embossing, then the ink was wiped off of the embossed images.....this the "Embossing Resist" technique. The button is Basic Grey, the pearls are by Zva Creative, and the Scrapbooking Thread by Making Memories. In order to photograph the embossed background, the "Pearl" Glimmer Mist is not visible, but is shimmery in the real!
*******************************************************************************

My next card is one I made earlier this month for a "Spinner Card Tutorial" on Our Daily Bread designs' blog........check out the tutorial here. Card details:The background scene was embellished with the Meadow and Peony Pink Flower Soft blends and Zva Creative Pearls in the flower centers and panel corners. The scripture stamp is from another new release this month, the "Faith" set, the paper is by Prima, and the twill ribbon was tied with a Bow Easy.

Here is a close up of the "Butterfly Single Stamp", cut out with the custom "Butterfly Die" and embellished with Marigold Flower Soft.

My New Awesome Toy - A Spellbinders Grand Calibur!

Hi everyone! First of all, I would like to invite you all to come back tomorrow for the 2nd annual March of the Snowmen Blog Hop! Last year's hop was so much fun and we had many talented ladies participate......I can't wait to see everyone's snowman creations this year! Plus, a lot of the girls, including myself, will have blog candy available to win.....more deets on that tomorrow! So, come back at 8 am EST on Tuesday morning, January 25th.....it will be a blast, I promise!!!

Now, I am so excited to share with you my new toy......a Spellbinders Grand Calibur die cut machine....woo hoo!!!! What is so special, you ask? Well, Spellbinders came out with some jumbo cutting dies, perfect for scrapbooking, larger shaped cards, and tons of project ideas. The Grand Calibur has an extra wide "mouth" for the jumbo dies and larger cutting plates to fit. I own a Spellbinders Wizard as well, and I still love it, but the cranking mechanism is a bit noisy. The Grand Calibur is smooth as butter and makes no noise while cranking the handle. This is a plus if you don't want to wake the household during a middle of the night crafting binge!

The plates for the Grand Calibur not only fit the largest of the cutting dies, but you can also save time by using many dies at the same time. Shown here is my card, designer paper layer, and sentiment panel, which will all be cut in one swoop!

I have cut and folded my cardstock to make a shaped card. I taped the Grand Labels One cutting die to the cardstock so that the die won't cut all of the way through at the fold of the card. By the way, the Grand Calibur and Wizard will both cut through both layers of cardstock beautifully!

Here I have flipped over and placed the dies and paper on the base plate so that the cutting edge is up.

Place the Cutting plate on top of the papers and dies.

Insert plates into the Grand Calibur and crank the handle while holding onto the top of the machine. (I know....I'm not holding the top, but I had to take the photo, right?!)

So, here is my shaped card, still attached at the top, my designer paper layer, and my sentiment panel. By the way, most of the time, there is no need to run these through a second time with the embossing mat since the impression is already there from the first cutting! I love anything that saves time....yay!!!

Here is my finished card. The sentiment is from "Faith - the Full of Grace Collection", the designer paper is SEI "With All My Heart", the pearls (and flowers) are Zva Creative, the crocheted lace is by May Arts, and the sentiment panel was cut with Spellbinders Labels Four.

I have used the following challenges in the making of this card:
Crafty Pad: Something Girly;
Paper Cutz: Open challenge;
Raise the Bar:
Nesties, Embellishments, White;
AI Factory: Anything Goes;
Belli Challenge: Letter P: Pink, pearls, pattern paper, paper piercing(Fogotten embellie: paper roses);
Christian Paper Crafts: Wednesday Case Artist.....Sabrina aka Okimom2girlz....I did not case one card in particular but used her style as inspiration with lace, flowers, and swirly pearls;
Creative Cottage: Shaped Cards;
Papertake Weekly: Ribbons and pearls;
Crafty Cardmakers: Flowers.

Thanks so much for stopping by today! Have a very blessed week! Don't forget to come back tomorrow morning for the March of the Snowmen!!

Bible Verse Thursday / Stamping In Time Combo!

Happy Thursday, everyone!!! It's time for another Bible Verse Thursday / Stamping In Time challenge combo! This week's Bible Verse Thursday Challenge over at Christian Paper Crafts is all about FELLOWSHIP.......create a card, layout, or altered item with fellowship in mind.......create a card or gift for someone you love to fellowship with, what do you like to do or where do you like to go during fellowship, and so on.....stretch the challenge however you like....and don't forget the scripture verse!!!

I have used the "Confirmation" set by Our Daily Bread designs. I love this powerful verse and the dove image has always been one of my faves! The pattern on the image panel is from the "Brocade Background" stamp, and the stamped corners are from "Brocade Borders". The designer paper is Basic Grey "Curio", the pearls are by Zva Creative, the May Arts crocheted ribbon was tied with a Bow Easy, the border punch is EK Success Fleur De Lis, there are several sprays of "Pearl" Glimmer Mist, and I made a five-layer button from a scrap of the Curio designer paper. If you would like a tutorial on how to make your own matching buttons out of paper, please check out this post.

Bible Verse Thursday Challenge at Christian Paper Crafts!

Happy Thursday, everyone! Time for another Bible Verse Thursday Challenge at Christian Paper Crafts! This week's challenge is to use a song or hymn as inspiration for your card, layout, or altered item. One of my all time favorite songs.....ever....is "Your Love, Oh Lord" by Third Day....click here if you'd like to hear the song. When this new "Faith" set by Our Daily Bread designs was released, I nearly flipped out since this scripture verse was included in the set!!!

Along with the "Faith" set, I have used the new "Single Butterfly" stamp and "Butterfly Die", also from Our Daily Bread designs, as sentiment panels. Using simple masking and my Stamp-a-ma-jig, I was able to separate the scripture into two panels easily. The designer paper is Basic Grey "Capella", the lace ribbon from Offray, the brown pearls are from Zva Creative, the border was punched with a Martha Stewart Doily Lace Punch, and there are several layers of "Pearl" Glimmer Mist for a finishing touch.

The general design is from Gloria's Sketch Tuesday Challenge this week from Christian Paper Crafts......I had to "tweak" it a bit and replaced the sentiment panel with ribbon to make it work.....good thing there aren't any challenge police to crack down on me!
I have also used the following challenges in the making of this card:
Fab -n-Funky: Anything Goes;
Creative Cottage: Something New (I'm using a new butterfly stamp and matching die;
Flutterby Wednesday: Open challenge as long as you have a butterfly, angel, fairy, etc.;
Little Red Wagon: Use a doily......okay, I couldn't find my doilies, so I settled for a Doily Lace punch.....does that make me a "challenge cheater"?!;
Papertake Weekly: Anything Goes;
Craft Your Passion: Anything Goes;
Die Cut Dreams: Quotes;
The Shabby Tea Room: Use 11 elements in your creation: 2 cardstock, 1 designer paper, 3 different stamps, lace, doily lace punch, butterfly die, pearls, and Glimmer Mist!!! :) That was fun!;
Stamptacular Sunday: Inspiration photo of wedding dress with muted creams and browns;
Drunken Stampers: use something new (butterfly stamp and die);
Speedy the Cat's Friends' Challenge: Use something new.
AI Factory: New Beginnings...use something new;
Dutch Dare: New Beginnings...once again, new stamps!;
Stampin' B's: use an old favorite (lace ribbon) and something new...stamps.

Thanks so much for stopping by today! God Bless!

Stamped Candles x 2 !

Wow, am I behind on blogging!!! My plate has been overflowing lately and I found myself a little burned out and exhausted. After cutting back for a couple of weeks, I've got to get back into the swing! So, this post will be short and sweet.......maybe! ;)

This stamped candle is one I made for the Our Daily Bread designs' blog tutorial last month....see the full tutorial HERE. If you haven't tried making a stamped candle, you have GOT to give it a go.....so easy and fast too!!! This image and scripture verse are both from the ODBD set, "You Will Find Refuge"; the crocheted ribbon is by May Arts and the velvet ribbon I got on clearance at Michael's....not sure of the brand.

My second attempt at a stamped candle was for Bible Verse Thursday a couple of weeks ago....the theme was "Gifts", so I used the snowflake image and scripture verse from the ODBD set, "Peace & Joy". The pearls are by Zva Creative, the lace ribbon is Offray, and once again, the velvet ribbon came from Michael's. It's not very visible, but the snowflake was colored with a Glitter Pen after coloring with the Almost Amethyst marker from SU.

Thanks so much for stopping by today! Stay tuned for a new Bible Verse Thursday Challenge tomorrow, plus some updated news from Christian Paper Crafts. God Bless!

Our Daily Bread designs January New Release Blog Hop!

Happy, Happy New Year, everyone!!!!! Thanks so much to all of my readers who have left the most lovely comments here in 2010. Though I missed my 1st Blogiversary last February, I plan to do something special this year for the 2nd anniversary...stay tuned!!

Well, not only am I excited about a brand new year, but you know what the 1st of each month means at Our Daily Bread designs......brand new releases....yay!!!! My goodness, this month Kelley has gone waaaaay overboard! Check out the New Release Post here to see three new stamp sets, a single butterfly stamp with matching cutting die, two background stamps, and an embossing plate!

My sample for today features the new "Faith" set, designed by Dina Kowal at DK Designs. The butterfly and branches image was stamped (and panels stenciled) in Cameo Coral and overstamped with Stazon Timber Brown to match the Basic Grey "Curio" designer paper, one of my new faves!

Most of the designs in the 6 x 6 "Curio" pad have very dark brown borders. Since my card is 5-1/2" square, the designer paper had to be trimmed from two edges. To keep the dark border look, I sponged Stazon Timber Brown on the cut edges, using a scratch paper mask. The designer paper "tidbit" was sponged in the same way and adhered to the inside panel for added decoration.

The pearls and pearl brads are by Zva Creative, the ivory satin and watermelon ribbon are both from May Arts, the bow was tied with a Bow Easy, the frames are Spellbinders Lacey Squares and Lacey Circles, and there are several sprays of "Pearl" Glimmer Mist for a shimmery finish.

Now....the moment you've been waiting for.....

Welcome to the "Leap of Faith" blog hop by Our Daily Bread designs! You are going to flip out when you see the beautiful creations from my fellow Breadsticks today!! If you have hopped here from Julie's blog, you are in the right spot! If you are here by chance, please head over to the ODBD blog for all of the deets and to start from the beginning....we don't want you to miss a thing!!! You have until 8 PM EST on Sunday, January 2nd to complete the hop and follow the winning requirements. Kelley has generously offered to award FIVE lucky hoppers their choice of one free stamp set....how awesome is that?!

Next, you will be hopping over to sweet Grace Nywening's blog.....wait until you see what she has in store for you!!! By the way, if there are any broken links along the way, please go back to the ODBD blog, where there is a complete hop list.

Thanks so much for stopping by today! May your New Year be full of blessings!!!
