NEW MAY RELEASES FROM ODBD!!!

Today is new-release day at Our Daily Bread Designs! Check out the three new patriotic sets....aren't they awesome!!! Kelley has released these sets just in time to celebrate Memorial Day, to pay tribute to all those who have given their lives to protect our freedoms. Or it would be a great time to start on those Fathers' Day or Independence Day cards....you KNOW how fast time flies...better get started now!

The set I have used for this card is "God Bless America". I have combined several challenges from Splitcoast this week: Betty's Color Challenge to use Real Red, Old Olive, and Basic Black; Roxie's sketch challenge; and Julia's Ways To Use It Challenge to focus on the color black for your card, embellishments, etc. This beautiful dsp from Memory Box, called "Rhubarb Tart" was perfect for the color challenge.....plus with a little Irridescent Gold Shimmerz, was elegant enough to combine with the black elements, which include the Midnight Black Accent Pearls from Hero Arts.

Check out the ODBD Blog to see some awesome cards made by the Design Team! Stay tuned for another ODBD Sketch Challenge!!!
Thanks so much for stopping by!!! Have a blessed day!!

Children of God Baby Shower Gifts

My BFF's daughter, Jennifer, is having her first baby! I am soooo excited for her! Jennifer and Zach love the outdoors.....love to hunt, fish, and go four-wheelin'! A traditional baby set just wouldn't do....so when I saw this little owl from Hero Arts, the outdoor scene just fell into place. The tree trunks I cut out by hand from SU Chocolate Chip, stamped with SU Weathered, stamped the SU Headline Alphabet onto the trees, cut the letters out with an exacto knife, and popped them up over Creamy Caramel to make them look like a real carved tree. The tree tops are scalloped circles ran through the CB with Swirls ef, sponged, pierced, and popped up. The little owl was stamped three times for the nameframe and once for the card, with Chocolate Chip on Close to Cocoa, and colored with a white gel pen.
The verse on the card is from "Children of God", an April release from Our Daily Bread Designs.
Thanks for stopping by! Stay tuned for new releases this week from ODBD!!!

Blessed is the Nation

SNEAK PEEK ALERT!!! Isn't this set awesome!!! It's called "In God We Trust", from Our Daily Bread Designs, and will be available on May 1st! Roxie's sketch challenge over at Splitcoast was absolutely perfect.....I LOVE when a plan comes together so beautifully!!!! Plus, Jeanne's Limited Supply Challenge was to choose a room in your house for inspiration. Our basement is the "Man Room", where there are deer on the wall and mantle....plus a patriotic theme. The photo below is a photo of one of the framed items there. (Sorry for the bad photo....tried to keep reflections out of it, especially me!!!) The striped dp is from Moxxie. I just happened to have some Creative Memories star dp in my stash.......what a perfect fit! There is nothing fancy here....simple stamping, sponging, and layering. The hardest part was all of the paper piercing! I decided not to over-embellish.....didn't want to take away from the powerful verse and image. This was mailed to my hubby's Uncle George in Tennesse.....I hope he likes it!!!

Card Recipe:

Paper: SU Night of Navy, Close to Cocoa, Whisper White, CM Stars, Moxxie red & white (name unknown)

Ink: SU Close to Cocoa, Night of Navy

Accessories: Ticket Corner Punch, Paper piercer and mat pack, Cuttlebug swirls ef, antique copper brads, sponge dauber, foam tape

Thanks so much for stopping by! Stay tuned for more new releases and fun stuff for May!! Have a blessed day!

Keep My Lamp Burning

Two birds with one stone, just the way I like it! I wanted to make a special birthday card for my Father-In-Law, plus honor this week's featured stamper, Jamie aka Jamerz, over at Splitcoast. I chose this card to re-create because I liked the layout and how she placed the brads and ribbon. The stamp set is "Keep My Lamp Burning" from Our Daily Bread Designs. The moment I opened this paper pack, "Poppyfinch" from Memory Box, I knew that I HAD to use it with this lighthouse because of the similar pattern. The lighthouse was stamped twice so that I could cut it out and pop it up. The background was colored with sponge daubers with Vintage Violet and Bashful Blue, and Barely Banana stamp pads.
Thanks for stopping by today! Stay tuned in the next week for a sneak peek of the AWESOME new sets from ODBD!!! God Bless!

Skeem Inspiration Memorial Plaque

For those of you who don't know, I am addicted to the challenges over at Splitcoast! I love rules and suggestions to help lead me in directions I was not expecting to go! My favorite challenge of the week is the Inspiration Challenge on Saturday.....I love trying to recreate the inspiration piece or at least recreate the feeling of it with colors and design! This week's IC was to find inspiration from the Skeem store, which has the most awesome candles, match boxes, lanterns, etc. I chose the Water Jasmine Pillar, because of the GORGEOUS colors!!!

I have been wanting to make this plaque for some time now. When Kelley at Our Daily Bread Designs released this new set, Children of God, I knew it was time for this project. Throw in the IC challenge and I have a perfect combination to get me started.

The wooden plaque was sprayed with "Glacier" Glimmer Mist, then with "Iridescent Gold" Glimmer Mist. The dp is from the "Butterfield" collection by Memory Box, edges sponged with Almost Amethyst. After adhering the dp and image, I sprayed a few layers of clear-coat to make it weather proof. My hubby, Tom, drilled two holes for my dowel rods....then we headed to the cemetary for a nice sunny visit! About a year after we were married, we had a son, Thomas Jr., who died shortly after birth.....he would have been sixteen.....wow, I can't imagine what it would be like living with a teenager right now! But the Lord chose a different path and purpose for us. We have been blessed in so many ways and are so grateful for the knowledge and understanding the Lord has given us. Thanks so much for stopping by today! Have a blessed weekend!!

Welcome Little Baby!

I just LOVE the new sets this month over at Our Daily Bread Designs!!! They are all so versatile, with scripture AND sentiment stamps.....it's great when one set works for the inside and outside of your card! This is one sentiment stamp from "Children of God", which I separated into three panels for the Ways To Use It challenge on Splitcoast, which was to alter a frame in some way. I have been waiting for the perfect opportunity to use these photo slide frames that I bought at JoAnn's on clearance. The frames were white, but I sprayed them with "Rose Tea" Glimmer Mist...sprayed the butterflies too! I love the marbled look from spraying it heavy and letting it air dry. The centers of the butterflies are covered with pink liquid pearls. Added white eyelet lace and pink grosgrain to finish. Thanks so much for stopping by! God Bless!

Love One Another

This is another gorgeous new set from Our Daily Bread Designs, called "Love One Another". The hearts were stamped twice, cut out, colored with Pink Pirouette, Chocolate Chip, and Mellow Moss, and the roses and ribbon pieces were popped up on foam tape for dimension, then painted with Pearl Shimmerz. The verse was stamped on some vine patterned vellum, retired from Stampin' Up. The border and frame are new Spellbinder die-cuts, also found at the ODBD store......Kelley has sooooo many new products in the store....you HAVE to check it out!!!

This card qualifies for this week's color challenge over at Splitcoast: Pink Pirouette, Bordering Blue, Chocolate Chip, and So Saffron. This dp from SU fit perfectly!!! I also used this week's sketch challenge for the layout....except I made it square instead of rectangle.
Thanks so much for stopping by! Have a blessed day!!!

Biker Granny Photos!

Here are some photos of "Biker Granny" you'all had requested. This is my hubby's 83 year-old Grandmother, Georgia. She lives in Dickson, Tennessee and is quite a woman!!! She is very independent and does as much for herself as she can....she's even done some of her own minor electrical work...yikes! How do you like her leather riding gear....isn't she hot?! That's her son, George, who takes her riding frequently! I wonder if anyone ever mistakes them for a couple? His wife, Vicki, would get a tickle out of that!!! Hi Vic!!

Biker Granny's 83rd Birthday!

My hubby's Grandma turned 83 this week! Not only is she totally independent, and still drives....even several states away, but she also loves to ride on the back of her son's motorcycle! Oh, I wish I had a photo of her in her full leather riding gear, chaps and all!!!! I just HAD to use Snoopy's Chopper in "hot pink" for her birthday card! This week's Inspiration Challenge over at Splitcoast was to choose an item from the Grandin Road catalog. This wall art was perfect......though Snoopy is riding PAST the mountains, instead of climbing UP them, I thought it was the perfect piece!
The scene was created by masking the sections and coloring with sponge daubers and ink pads. I used Vintage Violet for both the road and the mountains. The clouds were made by sponging Pink Pirouette over a scalloped circle. The little flowers are from Trees Three by SU. This colorful ribbon was 50 cents at Michael's! Pink Pearls were added to the motorcycle hubs and corners. Cotton Candy Stickles were added to the flowers, gas tank and fender, and on Snoopy's sunglasses....REAL MEN WEAR PINK you know!!! Thanks for stopping by!!! Have a blessed weekend!!!

Children of God Diorama

I love this new set, Children of God, from Our Daily Bread Designs! I couldn't resist but pair the verse and Jesus image with the scene from Path of Life....I thought it was a perfect fit!!! I made this diorama for this week's Splitcoast color challenge of Bashful Blue, So Saffron, and Close to Cocoa....this new SU dp, Bella Birds, was a fantastic match. I started to follow the Diorama instructions on the Resource page at SCS, but decided I only wanted two layers and a bigger window. I cut my two pieces 6"x8" each and scored 1" from each end. I cut out the square with a ruler and exacto knife, punched the scalloped border with a SU punch. I painted Jesus' robe with Pearl Shimmerz, however, my camera will just not pick it up....darn! I didn't want to take away from the image or verse, so I chose not to embellish it much.

Love is Patient....

This verse from 1 Corinthians has always been a favorite of mine....I love to read it slow and think about every word. REAL love, like God's love, is pure and powerful! What a joy is was to find out that Kelley had made this beautiful verse into a stamp!!! You can see this verse, along with three awesome new sets at Our Daily Bread Designs.

Today's Featured Stamper over at Splitcoast is Julie aka JustWriteDesigns.....I love cruising her gallery....she has such a funky, creative style and uses such beautiful, fun colors! I chose this card to case, although I ran out of room and couldn't put anything on the bottom as she did.

Card Recipe:
Paper: Elegant Eggplant, Almost Amethyst, Whisper White
Ink: Elegant Eggplant, Almost Amethyst
Accessories: Ornare Piercing Template and piercing tool, Scalloped border punch, pearls, sponge dauber, Tattered Angels "Pearl" Glimmer Mist, CB Textile EF

Thanks for stopping by! Stay tuned for more projects for the new releases at ODBD!!! Have a blessed day!

This verse is from one of the special Design Team sets, Scripture Collection 2 from Our Daily Bread Designs. The paper primas and Basic Grey brads can also be found in the ODBD store.

SC222 Snoopy's Chopper

Finally! This is the first card I've done in a week and a half! My slump is now over! I used Roxie's sketch from Splitcoast to make a birthday card for Larry, a co-worker. Snoopy and Woodstock, doing a "wheelie" was PERFECT for this sketch. I cut the top panel, adhered it to the larger panel with removable adhesive, sponged the scene with sponge daubers, using scratch paper for masking. When the sponging was finished, removed the top panel to be framed and popped up. Also stamped Snoopy a second time, cut out with exacto and scissors and popped up. The clouds were sponged over a scalloped circle.
Supplies:
Paper: Real Red, Summer Sun, Whisper White
Stamps: Snoopy's Chopper, SU Trees Three and Riveting
Ink: Basic Gray, Old Olive, Bashful Blue, Real Red, Summer Sun, Going Gray, Chocolate Chip
Accessories: Exacto Knife, circle punches, ribbon, foam tape, sponge daubers
