ODBD Classic Sketch Challenge #4

Hi everyone! It's Tuesday....that means another card challenge over at the Our Daily Bread designs Forum. Since this is the fourth Tuesday of the month, it's my turn to present the "Classics Challenge", where we revisit an "oldie but goodie" challenge from the past. Jennipher Lowery originally designed this sketch, but I have recreated it with ODBD's sketch colors. There are no time limits for any of the challenges over at the ODBD Forum....come on over and play!! If you use ODBD stamps on your project, please upload it to the ODBD Card Gallery and paste a link in the challenge thread HERE. If you do not have Our Daily Bread designs stamps, that's okay....you can include a blog link or thumbnail photo within your comment in the challenge thread.

I have also used the Clean and Simple Challenge from Splitcoast to use Rich Razzleberry and White only....this was a tough challenge, especially combining with the sketch while trying to keep it simple!

Card 'Ingredients':
Stamps: Our Daily Bread designs 'Spread Light' (will be released on March 1st);
Cardstock: Stampin Up Rich Razzleberry and Whisper White;
Ink: Rich Razzleberry;
Accessories: Spellbinders Labels Fifteen Dies, Zva Creative Pearls, Stamp-a-ma-jig stamp positioner, Brocade Embossing Folder by Cuttlebug, May Arts Crocheted Lace, Stampin Up Rich Razzleberry Satin, paper piercer and template, sponge dauber, foam tape;
Size: 4-1/4 x 4-1/4.

A Faithful Friend!

Happy Monday, everyone!!! Hope you had a great weekend!!! Though Saturday was a long workday doing projects and writing posts, yesterday was all about rest.....and a little playtime too! I couldn't help but play in my stamp room because of the Featured Stamper challenge over at Splitcoast. Congrats to Janice Melton aka catcrazy! What a fun gallery, with lots of variety.....I finally chose this beautiful CAS (clean and simple) card....what a great design, and perfect to use another new upcoming set by Our Daily Bread designs....this one is "Faithful Friend".

About a month ago, I tried out my alcohol inks for the first time, though I bought them a couple of years ago. (Here is a link to my first card.) Anyhoo....I had experimented with different colors and nearly threw the rejects away, but saved the ink'd papers in my stash for just the right project....these dragonflies!! All I had to do was stamp the dragonflies with Stazon Jet Black onto the alcohol ink'd paper, cut them out and popped them up with foam tape.

Card 'Ingredients':
Stamps: Our Daily Bread designs 'Faithful Friend', available March 1st;
Cardstock: Stampin Up Perfect Plum, Whisper White, and Glossy White;
Ink: Stazon Jet Black, SU Perfect Plum, and Alcohol Inks;
Accessories: Sizzix Embossing Folder (from Stampin Up), Pearls by 'Want To Scrap', paper piercer and template, Stamp-a-ma-jig stamp positioner, foam tape;
Size: A2.

I have also used the following challenges in the making of this card:
The Crafty Pad: Recycle it...use something you nearly threw away (alcohol ink layer);
Stampin Sisters in Christ: variegated colors on your project;
Craft Your Passion: paper piecing.

Thanks so much for stopping by! Have a very blessed week!!

Wonderful Day!

Happy Saturday, everyone! There is another fun Inspiration Challenge at Splitcoast today....choose an item from Galleria Arts & Crafts. As soon as I saw these cool metal butterflies (photo on the left), I headed to my room to work with some dies by Cheery Lynn Designs and some mirror paper I picked up last year in the ODBD show booth. Once I cut out my silver "Exotic Butterfly", I remembered that this week's challenge over at Cheery Lynn Designs is to "Frame It"! So, I chose the Japanese Lace & Flourish Frame with Island Indigo cardstock and Prima "Alla Prima" designer paper. The sentiment is a "sneak peek" of a new March stamp set, "Flourished Verses", by Our Daily Bread designs.
I have also used the Speedy Fox and Friends challenge to use lace on your project.

Card 'Ingredients':
Stamps: Our Daily Bread designs 'Flourished Verses' (will be released on March 1st);
Cardstock: Stampin Up Island Indigo and Whisper White;
Designer Paper: Prima 'Alla Prima' and silver mirror paper (from the Our Daily Bread designs show booth);
Ink: SU Island Indigo and Pool Party;
Accessories: Cheery Lynn Designs 'Japanese Lace and Flourish Frame' and 'Exotic Butterfly Medium', Spellbinders Ribbon Tags Trio Three, Basic Grey Teal Pearls, crocheted lace (brand unknown), foam tape, paper piercer and template;
Size: 6 x 4-1/2.

Doilies and Daisies for your Birthday!

Hi everyone! Happy Monday! Today I would like to share a birthday card for a dear friend. I have used a couple of challenges in the making of this card. This week's Feature Stamper at Splitcoast is Becky Carafa aka beccabatgirl....what a fabulous gallery! I chose this adorable card for the fun layout....since I will be mailing my card, I chose to cut the ribbon a little shorter so that it wouldn't be smashed in the envelope;
The Pink Elephant: something with script or print on it (designer paper);
Stampin Sisters In Christ: must include a flower.

Card 'Ingredients':
Stamps: Our Daily Bread designs 'Daisy' and 'Birthday Blessings';
Cardstock: Stampin Up More Mustard and Whisper White;
Designer Paper: Pink Paisley (collection name unknown);
Ink: Stazon Jet Black, SU More Mustard, Pear Pizazz, Soft Suede;
Accessories: Cheery Lynn Designs French Pastry Doily Die, Bow Easy, May Arts ribbon, Zva Creative Pearls, 'Pearl' Glimmer Mist, Foam Tape;
Size: 5-1/2 x 5-1/2.

Happy Saturday, everyone!! Looks like it will be another "non-winter" winter's day here in Indiana.....sunny and upper 40's....weird!!! What a happy morning it was when I saw today's Inspiration Challenge at Splitcoast! Choose an item from Creative Wallcovering......when I saw this gorgeous wallpaper, it screamed "Bo Bunny Garden Girl"!!! I needed a birthday card for a co-worker, so this is what I came up with! I sure hope she likes "loud" and "bright" colors....heehee!!

I have also used the following challenges for this card:
The Crafty Pad: The Letter 'B'....Bright, Butterflies, and Bling;
Stampin Sisters In Christ: Create a happy card.

ODBD "For The Love Of..." Alumni Blog Hop!

Hi everyone!! It's time once again for the Alumni Team's "For the Love of..." bi-monthly Blog Hop!! The theme this time around is "For the Love of Borders and Frames"! Our Daily Bread designs has many border sets, perfect for framing scripture verses or images. My sample today is showcasing Flower Frames 2....these frames were originally designed to fit the scripture stamps from Scripture Collection 1 and Scripture Collection 2, since the verses were quite large, however, I love using Flower Frames 2 for framing scenes as well! The watering can bouquet from the Happy Birthday set fits perfectly....yay!!!

As you hop along today, you will see samples for each of the border sets. If you'd like to see the border sets all in one place, you can always go back to the ODBD store, to the stamp set page. Some of them are bundled together, for example, Flower Frames 1 and Flower Frames 2 are bundled, which saves you 10% when you purchase them together!

For my card sample, as I mentioned above, I chose to combine the Happy Birthday set with Flower Frames 2 to create a 90th birthday card for a family friend. The watering can was stamped in Stazon Royal Purple, then cut out with the custom ODBD Watering Can die. Cutting out the watering can by hand takes way over an hour...using the custom die takes about a minute....thanks, ODBD!!!! I stamped an extra image so that I could cut out and pop up some of the flowers. The frame was also stamped in Royal Purple and was cut out by hand, which is pretty easy (as long as you stick out your tongue!!!!!)

Card 'Ingredients':
Stamps: Our Daily Bread designs 'Flower Frames 2' and 'Happy Birthday';
Cardstock: SU Elegant Eggplant and Whisper White;
Designer paper: My Mind's Eye 'A Beautiful Day';
Ink: Stazon Royal Purple, Ranger Antique Linen (sponging), SU markers;
Accessories: ODBD 'Watering Can' custom die, Spellbinders Fleur De Lis Squares, Zva Creative Pearls, Bow Easy, May Arts Satin Ribbon and Crocheted Lace, 'Pearl' Glimmer Mist, paper piercer and template, foam tape;
Size: 5-1/2 x 5-1/2.

Now......the moment you've been waiting for.....ON WITH THE HOP!!!!

If you have hopped here from Connie's amazing blog, you are in the right place. If you have stopped by today "just because", please head over to the ODBD Blog and start from the beginning....we don't want you to miss a thing!! On Eagle's Wings, the Clean and Simple Way!

Happy Wednesday!! We're half way through the week!!! Today I would like to share another clean and simple card...this one is a birthday card for my hubby's uncle.

The eagle from the ODBD "On Eagle's Wings" set was stamped, colored with SU markers, covered with a scratch paper mask, then the sky was sponged over a punched scallop circle. The scripture verse was stamped using a Stamp-a-ma-jig stamp positioner in order to ensure that it was not stamped crooked.

Card 'Ingredients':
Stamps: Our Daily Bread designs 'On Eagle's Wings';
Cardstock: SU Crumb Cake and Whisper White;
Ink: Stazon Jet Black, SU Markers and ink;
Accessories: Stamp-a-ma-jig Stamp Positioner, paper piercer and template, Black cotton twill ribbon, black brads, sponge dauber, scalloped circle punch, foam tape;
Size: A2.

God's Wonders

Hi everyone! Today I would like to share a "Clean and Simple" card I made for a co-worker's birthday, using the Clean and Simple Sketch Challenge at Splitcoast and the Robyn's Nest Challenge at the Our Daily Bread designs Forum, which was to use items from your stash.

I knew I wanted three butterflies for the sketch, so for the stash challenge I found a large piece of Barely Banana cardstock and a leftover piece of Basic Grey "Hello Luscious" designer paper on which these Cheery Lynn Designs Exotic Butterflies barely fit. Once I scored the card, I realized that there was not much room for the butterflies, so they were staggered diagonally instead of exactly like the sketch.....oops!

Card 'Ingredients':
Stamps: Our Daily Bread designs 'Porch';
Cardstock: SU (retired) Barely Banana;
Designer Paper: Basic Grey 'Hello Luscious';
Ink: SU Real Red;
Accessories: Cheery Lynn Designs Small and Medium Exotic Butterfly dies, 'Pearl' Glimmer Mist, Red Rhinestones (company unknown), foam tape, Stamp-a-ma-jig Stamp Positioner;
Size: Approx. 6 x 4-3/4.

Breakers of the Sea

Hi everyone! I didn't get the chance to post this yesterday for the Inspiration Challenge at Splitcoast since hubby and I went to "the city" (Indianapolis) for his work's banquet dinner, but just wanted to share a birthday card I made for my step-dad. The challenge was to choose a photo from "Better Photo".....wowza, soooo many fabulous photos, however, I really want to take some photography classes after seeing some of those shots. I had better start saving now for a "real" camera!!! :) As soon as I saw this amazing sunset scene, I knew I had to use "The Mighty Sea" again......this is such a perfect set for masculine cards! I have also used the Our Daily Bread designs "Shining The Light Challenge"....a H-E-A-R-T recipe challenge: E=embossing folder, R=raised panel, and T= "The Mighty Sea" or twine.

Since I don't have Copics markers yet (another thing I need to save for!), I like to color with sponge daubers and ink pads. If you'd like to see how I use masking and sponging, check out this tutorial I wrote for the Our Daily Bread designs blog HERE.

Card 'Ingredients':
Stamps: Our Daily Bread designs 'The Mighty Sea';
Cardstock: SU Marina Mist, Crumb Cake, and Whisper White;
Ink: Stazon Jet Black, SU Ruby Red, Daffodil Delight, Marina Mist, Crumb Cake, and Old Olive;
Accessories: SU Square Lattice Embossing Folder, SU Corduroy button, Baker's Twine, paper piercer and template, sponge daubers, foam tape, 3m Post-it Craft paper;
Size: 5-1/2 x 5-1/2.

Thanks for stopping by for a visit! Have a wonderful, blessed weekend!!

The Simple Things In Life

Hello! I love to make shaped cards.....they are so fun and easy! I made this for a co-worker's birthday....she doesn't like to be "fussed over" on her birthday, so I kept it "simple" with very few "doo-dads"!

Today's Featured Stamper over at Splitcoast is Kathy Bradley aka 101Airborne ......check out her fabbie gallery HERE. I just loved this shaped card plus the blue and yellow color combination. I kept the color scheme, but used different dies. If you'd like to learn how to make shaped cards using cutting dies, check out the tutorial I wrote for Our Daily Bread designs HERE.

I have also used the following challenges in the making of this card:
The Our Daily Bread designs 'Shining The Light Challenge': H-E-A-R-T recipe...E=embossing (with die), R=ribbon, and T=three layers;
The Play Date Cafe color challenge of blues and yellow;
Speedy Fox Challenge: make a shaped card;
The Crafty Pad; Letter 'B' Challenge = blue!!;
Stampin Sisters In Christ: make a 'happy' card.

Card 'Ingredients':
Stamps: Our Daily Bread designs 'Little Things';
Cardstock: SU Brocade Blue and Whisper White;
Designer paper: Basic Grey 'Picadilly';
Ink: SU Daffodil Delight and Brocade Blue;
Accessories: Spellbinders Blossom 3 Dies, Zva Creative Pearls, 'Pearl' Glimmer Mist (it's camera shy!), Bow Easy, May Arts Satin Ribbon, sponge daubers, foam tape;
Size: 4-1/2 x 4-1/2.
