Fabulous Fall Altered Frame!

Hi everyone! Well, I'm a bit melancholy this weekend....we had to turn on the furnace finally! Time to put away the shorts and dig out the jeans...boo hoo! I am sorry to see summer end so soon, but I do love to use fall colors in my projects, so...all is good!!! The leaves are beginning to turn here in Indiana, but I'm still waiting for "the smell" of fall....for those of you whose seasons do not change, "the smell" in the air of the leaves beginning to die....it's hard to describe, but it's a smell I wish I could bottle!! :)

For today's project, I altered a photo frame which I found in the clearance isle at Target ...I'm now sorry that I didn't fill my cart with them! This is the "before" shot:

If you read my previous post, you'll see that I'm in love with this designer paper by Karen Foster, called "Amber Leaves"...I sure wish I would have stocked up on this when I bought it last year! I measured the frame openings, marked the back of the designer paper, and cut out the insert using a ruler and a craft knife. The edges of the designer paper were then inked distressed (sponged heavily) with SU Cajun Craze and adhered to the frame using my Scotch Advanced Tape Glider. The designer paper cut-out was also inked distressed and used as a mat for the stamped image. The leaves and flowers were cut from an outdoor flower arrangement I bought at JoAnn's.

For the image, I used the "Seed Packet" set by Our Daily Bread designs. The seed packet image was stamped with Stazon Jet Black, colored with markers on the outside, and colored with sponge daubers (using masking) on the lighter areas. The "Our Daily Bread Designs Seed Co" stamp is a straight stamp, but I curved it while placing it on the acrylic block.

I have used a couple of challenges in the making of this frame today:
The ODBD Stamping In Time: On Assignment Challenge is to use distressing. I used ink distressing on the edges to give more of a rustic look;
The Inspiration Challenge at Splitcoast was to choose a photo from the Creature Comforts blog....I didn't need to look very far...the first page I looked at sent me straight to my room! The gorgeous fall colors were all the inspiration I needed!;
Also at Splitcoast this week, the Color Challenge was also perfect for fall....Always Artichoke, Cajun Craze, and So Saffron;
PLUS, the Christian Paper Crafts "Fabulous Fall" Blog Hop is still open through 9/25....come on over and link your fall creation!!

Thanks so much for stopping by today! Have a very blessed weekend!

Angie, I am absolutely in LOVE with this wonderful frame!!! Everything on it is just perfection to the "T"! Too bad I don't have a birthday coming up any time soon :D:D. Yeah, I hear you about the smell of Fall! Back home in Germany, I lived in the country and we had to drive to lots of woods and the smell was amazing. Living in AZ, well, that smell just does not exist like back home. Have a blessed weekend! Hugs, Sabrina
