Our Daily Bread designs' December New Release Blog Hop!

Welcome to the Our Daily Bread designs December New Release Blog Hop!!!! I cannot wait until you see what the other Breadsticks have in store for you today....so much gorgeous-ness, I can barely stand it myself!!!!! If you haven't seen the full December release yet, check out the New Release post HERE.

If you have hopped here from the Our Daily Bread designs blog, you are right where you want to be! If you have stopped here for a visit, please head to the ODBD blog now and soak in all of the deets on how to participate in the blog hop and qualify to be one of six winners of a free ODBD stamp set!!!

I had such a blast creating my sample for the hop! First thing, I chose Basic Grey "Max & Whiskers" designer paper for the fun pattern and the coordinating solid. The "Honeycomb Background" stamp was stamped in SU Vanilla Craft Ink, then Ranger clear embossing powder was poured over the ink while it was still wet, then heat embossed. Using the "Emboss Resist" technique, I sponged different variations of peach and brown ink to shade in the honeycomb sections, then rubbed the excess ink from the embossed image with a rag. ***Now here is the fun part: since I love all things tedious, I used a stylus and hand-embossed each section of the honeycomb to give it lots of texture and a life-like look! It took about an hour to do this, but I love how it turned out!! The edges were then torn and inked heavily for a distressed look. The scripture from the "Little Things" set was overstamped with the "Honeycomb Background" and framed with Spellbinders Labels 22. The honey bees are from the "Simple Things" set and the button I made from the embossed honeycomb paper.....Psst...I'll tell you a secret: I punched out a circle from the honeycomb paper from behind the scripture panel to make my button!!!! If you'd like to learn how to make your own 5-layer buttons, check out my tutorial HERE.
