Hi, everyone! This week's Inspiration Challenge over at Splitcoast is to find inspiration from Ferris Wheels and Carousels. I fell in love with this butterfly dish and decided to make a clean and simple card with it in mind. Unfortunately, the butterfly stamps and matching dies I used are now retired from Divinity Designs LLC, but I still love to use them for my personal birthday list. The butterflies were heat embossed with black and cut out; the outside edges and any sections which were to stay white were coated with a clear glaze pen. On the large butterfly, the yellow sections were colored with a marker, then coated with the clear glaze pen as well. The reason for using the glaze pen is so that it acts as a resist since I wanted to sponge various colors on the butterflies for a smooth and gradient look. Once the sponging was finished, I used a dry rag to buff the ink from the glazed areas. The sentiment is from the 'Today and Everyday' stamp set which is still available from Divinity Designs LLC. I liked the clean look so I didn't add any splatters or stenciling.
EDITED TO ADD: The retired butterfly stamp set is called 'Trois Jolies Papillons' and the custom dies are 'Tres Papillons Dies'.
Thanks for visiting today!
Blessings,
