Ask, Seek, Knock!

Hi everyone! Today I am sharing a "better late than never" graduation card which I made using two ODBD challenges and the Stampin' Sisters In Christ Challenge (to have something on your project which moves). The Shining the Light Challenge is to base your project on this song lyric: "You're a grand old flag, you're a high flying flag.".......use a flag, or something that flies, or something that is high.......okay, I'm stretching here, but inside the door is a scene with clouds...clouds fly (or is it float?!) and they are high, right? Also, the Stamping In Time: On Assignment Challenge with Betty is to use something recycled....the twill ribbon was recycled from a stack of wash cloths.....anybody else buy more expensive choice of something just to be able to reuse the packaging?! I think I have a "problem"! :)

This card looks pretty simple, but it was a bit tricky to create the double door. The real stamped door image from the ODBD set, "Ask, Seek, Knock", is the open door view below. I wanted the door to open and it looked funny opening to the left, so I stamped it onto vellum, colored it with markers, then made a sticker out of it and adhered to white cardstock. I used a craft knife to cut around the door and my Scor-buddy to score the hinged side so that it would fold smoothly. Using a Stamp-a-ma-jig, I stamped the door on the back side. On a separate white piece, the grass and clouds were sponged.....once it was adhered to the back, the scripture verse was stamped in.

Card 'Ingredients':
Stamps: Our Daily Bread designs
'Ask, Seek, Knock' (front), 'For The Graduate' (inside);
Cardstock: SU Basic Black, Whisper White, White Vellum ;
Designer Paper:
Bo Bunny 'Timepiece';
Accessories: (?)Key Charm, SU Linen Thread, Recycled Twill Ribbon, Pewter Brads, Craft Knife, Xyron Sticker Maker, Scor-buddy, Paper piercer and template, Scratch paper and sponge daubers for scene;
Technique: Reverse Image, Paper Piercing, Masking;
Size: A2.

Thanks for stopping by today! Have a blessed week!!

Angie, this is just fantastic! Beautiful swinging door detailing and function! I so have some twill I confiscated off of a package of towels. Yes, sometimes I get the stuff because the packaging is added crafting bonus supplies! Wonderful card! Thanks for playing along!

Truly a beautiful card - it captivates both in style & content & one I'm certainly going to use as an example to follow - when I EVER get truly into stamping. Just starting out with stamps after 7 years of working with decoupage designs.
Blessings, Romayne
